Liverpool vs. Manchester City picks (Sunday, 11:30 a.m. ET)

                Manchester City to win +108
                Under 3.5 goals -200

Manchester City will aim to move 10 points clear of Premier League title rivals Liverpool when the teams clash at Anfield on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola's men lifted the Premier League trophy in 2018 and 2019, but finished 18 points behind Liverpool last season. Man City responded by spending $140 million on defenders Ruben Dias and Nathan Aké last summer, and that investment has paid dividends.

Dias has been a revelation at the heart of defense. Injuries have derailed Aké's time in Manchester, but his arrival created intense competition for places in the team, and that inspired a significant improvement from the previously underperforming John Stones.

Dias and Stones have now formed a rock solid defensive partnership. Man City has not conceded a single goal in its last six games. It has easily the best defensive record in the league, with just 13 goals conceded in 21 games. Guardiola's men are on a 13-game winning streak in all competitions, and they are surging with confidence right now.

Injury Woes Pile Up for Klopp

The same cannot be said for Liverpool. It made a strong start to the season, but it has been plagued by injuries over the past few months. Key central defenders Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez have been sidelined for most of the campaign, and they are unlikely to return to action until next season.

Joel Matip added to manager Jurgen Klopp's woes when he suffered a season-ending ankle injury a week ago, leaving the club without any senior central defenders. That forced Liverpool to dip into the transfer market, signing Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke and Ben Davies from Preston on a permanent deal.

They could come into the starting 11 for this game, but Klopp might decide that it is too risky to hand two youngsters a debut in a game of such magnitude. Captain Jordan Henderson, a midfielder, is therefore likely to continue playing in defense for the match against Man City.

                Liverpool "Not Fresh Enough"

Klopp admitted that his team was not "not fresh enough, mentally and physically" as Brighton consigned it to a second straight home defeat on Wednesday. Liverpool has just two wins in its last seven games. Its defensive struggles are understandable, but it has also been uncharacteristically toothless in front of goal in 2021. That could spell good news for Man City on Sunday.

Guardiola is without key playmaker Kevin De Bruyne and star striker Sergio Aguero for this game. However, the likes of Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden have stepped up in De Bruyne's absence, and Gabriel Jesus has scored in his last two appearances while deputizing for Aguero.

It finished 1-1 when these teams met in November, and Man City won 4-0 in their previous clash. It is hard to see Guardiola's team losing this game, as it has been very strong in defense and dangerous in attack over the past two months.

ANALYSIS: The Wolf Pack played perhaps their best game in beating Boise State on Friday night. They had 22 assists against eight turnovers, and shot 52.6 percent from the field. Even still, Boise State had a chance to win at the buzzer but a 3-pointer rimmed out. Look for the Broncos, who are 12-3-1 ATS following an ATS loss, to prove they're the better team today.

ANALYSIS: The Green Wave have covered their last two games by a combined 29 points, and they're facing a Cincy team dealing with COVID-19 issues. (The Bearcats started a walk-on in their last game, a 63-60 win over Temple -- the same Owls team Tulane just whipped by 17). Tulane sophomore Kevin Cross, a 6-8, 240-pound transfer from Nebraska, is finally starting to play to his potential with 24 points, 11 rebounds and four assists over his past two games. Look for Cincinnati to fall to 7-18 ATS in its last 25 road games dating to last season.

                  KANSAS CITY -155
ANALYSIS: Adding a money-line pick now that the line has dropped. If Patrick Mahomes had finished the first playoff game, the Chiefs likely would be entering off two straight blowout wins. I trust Andy Reid, with the extra time to prepare, to keep the Bucs' off balance enough so their pass rush doesn't blow up too many K.C. drives. Look for the unheralded Chiefs' defense to pressure Tom Brady up the middle as K.C. repeats.
