| Feb 21 | Tony Mejia | 3% | [CBB] (807) Maryland at (808) Rutgers Time: 3:00 PM EST |
1H Total Under 60.5 (-110) |
| Analysis: The Terps can match a season-best by winning their fourth straight game here, and even though Nebraska, Minnesota and Rutgers aren’t the class of the Big Ten, picking up four straight league wins would be more impressive than beating Old Dominion, Navy, Mount St. Mary’s and Saint Peter’s to open the season. I just don’t believe it’s going to happen. All those victories came at the Xfinity Center, while this one is in Piscataway at the RAC, one of the Big Ten’s toughest venues to come in and win in. Maryland and Rutgers played a 56-51 game and a 78-67 game last season, but that latter contest was higher-scoring due to the second half. We’ll ride the under for the full game as a 2% play, the 1st-half under as a 3% play and will lay the four points with Rutgers too. | ||||
| Feb 21 | Tony Mejia | 4% | [CBB] (827) Butler at (828) Xavier Time: 7:00 PM EST |
Xavier -7.5 (-117) |
| Analysis: The Musketeers are desperate for a win as they welcome the Bulldogs into Cintas Center after falling 93-84 against St. John’s the other night, surrendering 11 3-pointers and over 50 percent shooting. I’m not certain they can lock in defensively the way they need to, but definitely have advantages on the offensive end that they can utilize to overcome being porous on that end of the floor. Head coach Travis Steele confessed that they couldn’t guard any worse than they did against the Red Storm, so the last few days of practice couldn’t have been very pleasant in Cincinnati. Combine that with Butler coming in hobbled and all the ingredients are there to provide a lopsided result to keep Xavier on the right side of .500 in Big East play, not to mention the NCAA Tournament bubble. The Bulldogs will be without top rim protector Bryce Nze due to a groin injury and will therefore struggle to keep Zach Freemantle off the glass. ETSU transfer Bo Hodges is nursing a calf strain and also may not play with his team suffering through a losing season and essentially just playing spoiler. Expect Xavier to deliver a double-digit win. ALSO BE SURE YOU THIS LATE ADD ON IOWA-PENN STATE WITH CJ FREDRICK CLEARED TO PLAY C.J. Fredrick is in the mix for Iowa, which means we'll see the Hawkeyes play their usual rotations and have their customary chemistry. The Nittany Lions should be able to breathe offensively and will therefore play the loose basketball Jim Ferry has them playing. Penn State fired up 28 3-pointers against Ohio State and should be able to score with the Hawkeyes. Luka Garza will break the Iowa scoring record today and this game is likely to be higher-scoring. Ride the over. |
