    5% UCL COLOSSUS TOP PLAY
Game: (224225) Manchester City at (224226) Borussia Monchengladbach
    Date/Time: Feb 24 2021 3:00 PM EST
    Betting Line Provider: Consensus Line
    Play Rating: 5%
    Play: Manchester City -1.5 (-120)

We're taking Manchester City at the -1.5 handicap line to win in convincing fashion on Wednesday night against an out of sorts Borussia Monchengladbach team.

    Breakdown

We normally don't look to back big numbers at this stage of the Champions League, but this Manchester City team are on another level right now and we expect an easy win and cover here on Wednesday night against an under-strength Borussia Monchengladbach team.

After overcoming a difficult few months to open up the season, Manchester City have been absolutely rampant since, and effectively ended the English Premier League title race in comprehensive fashion.

Since December 1st, Manchester City have accumulated 44 points from a possible 48 (in comparison Liverpool accumulated 19 from a possible 45), and they haven't even slowed that pace on the road either, unbeaten in eight domestically and posting a 2.11 xg average across those eight road games as well.

What's been most impressive however is City's defense. They're allowing just 0.45 xg per game since December and that's by far the best in the league.

On the flip side, Gladbach are winless in February domestically, losing to Mainz and Koln (two teams occupying the bottom five spots in the league), and have scored just 2 goals over that three game stretch as well.

Man City enter this one effectively at full strength, they haven't conceded in five straight Champions League games and take on a Gladbach team who allowed 5 goals against Inter and Real Madrid combined to close out the group stage to narrowly go through on goal difference.

On Wednesday night, they face a clinical in-form Manchester City team at full strength, and we expect nothing but a comprehensive victory for the English side in this one.

Take City minus the handicap on Wednesday to win and cover in style.

          FEATURED PICK

          ST. BONA. @ DAVIDSON | 02/24 | 5:00 PM EST
          DAVIDSON -1.5
ANALYSIS: This is a Grade A model pick on Wednesday's NCAA slate as nearly 70 percent of simulations forecast Davidson to quite easily cover the 1.5-point spread in this important Atlantic 10 game. The Wildcats lost at the Bonnies on Sunday but are 7-1 ATS in their past eight following an ATS loss. The favorite is also 7-1 ATS in the past eight in the series.

          OVER 6
ANALYSIS: My model projects this as the highest-scoring NHL game by a rather comfortable margin Wednesday and nearly 80 percent of simulations have the game finishing Over the total of 6 goals. Might be wise to wager on the total ASAP as it seems likely to rise to 6.5. The Over is 5-1 in Tampa's past six at home.

                MERCER -3.5
ANALYSIS: It's Senior Night at Mercer, where the Bears will salute leading scorer Ross Cummings (14.8 ppg). He shoots over 44 percent from 3-point range, and he should be fresh after only. having to play 21 minutes in Mercer's Monday blowout of The Citadel. These teams played Jan. 13 in Chattanooga, the Mocs winning 83-80. The Mocs got 13 more free-throw attempts and shot 44 percent from deep. Look for Mercer to get the split on Senior Night, and cover.

                TULANE +12
ANALYSIS: The Green Wave are 5-2 ATS on the road. And since their blowout loss to Houston in their first game back from a COVID-related pause, the Green Wave have been extremely competitive, winning three times and losing by eight, three, four and three points. They already played Memphis tough once, losing 80-74 at home in December. The Tigers have a lot more talent but this is their first game in 18 days. Take the points.

ANALYSIS: The Timberwolves changed coaches, then lost by 27 at Milwaukee. This is their third straight road game; they're 3-14 on the road this season. The Bulls should have a huge offensive night and win for the fifth time in six games. Look for Chicago to cover its fifth straight versus a losing team.

                FLORIDA ST. -11
ANALYSIS: The Hurricanes lost by 27 at home to Georgia Tech on Saturday, and they'll only have six scholarship players available Wednesday. "We can’t practice because of the injuries," coach Jim Larranaga told the Miami Herald. "It’s very hard to prepare for an opponent. We don’t have a point guard. It’s a matter of trying to stay positive and keep our head above water because every day is a new drama, a new challenge, a new situation.” The deep Seminoles beat Miami 81-59 at home less than a month ago. Miami leading scorer Isaiah Wong (16.7 ppg) is expected to play, but likely won't be 100 percent after missing the entire second half vs. Georgia Tech with a sprained ankle.

                NEW MEXICO +1
ANALYSIS: Air Force grabbed just 13 defensive rebounds in Monday's eight-point loss to New Mexico. The Falcons got outrebounded overall, 37-22. In Wednesday's rematch, look for the Lobos to use their size and length to again dominate the boards. I don't expect a letdown, because the Lobos are motivated to win for assistant coach Dave Pilipovich. He was fired last March after eight-plus seasons as Air Force's head coach.

Here are the UEFA Europa League picks from Martin Green:

Tottenham vs. Wolfsberger picks (Wednesday, 12 noon ET)

                    Gareth Bale to score (-120)
                    Tottenham -1.5 goals (-135)

Tottenham has a great opportunity to record a morale-boosting victory when it hosts Wolfsberger in London on Wednesday.

Spurs thumped the Austrian team 4-1 in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 32 last week. Gareth Bale delivered an attacking masterclass as he set up Son Heung-Min's opening goal and then fired in a thunderbolt to put his team up 2-0.

Lucas Moura made it 3-0 Tottenham with a fine solo effort. Wolfsberger got back one goal after it was awarded a penalty, but Carlos Vinicius - deputizing for Harry Kane, who was rested - wrapped up a comprehensive victory with a late strike.

Tottenham was utterly dominant in that game, but it has been struggling badly in the Premier League. It lost 2-1 to West Ham over the weekend, its fifth defeat in six league games. That has seen Spurs slip down to ninth in the standings, and exasperated manager Jose Mourinho lambasted his squad after the defeat. "We have problems in the team that I cannot resolve by myself as a coach - no coach could," he said.

                    Tottenham Expected to Rotate Forwards

That was a pretty damning indictment, but Tottenham's players now can lighten the mood somewhat by beating Wolfsberger once more.

It is a slightly tricky game for bettors to analyze, as there is no real motivation for Tottenham to win. It could lose the game 2-0 and still qualify for the next round, as it would be ahead on aggregate.

However, some of the players may be keen to respond to Mourinho's comments with an emphatic display. Tottenham is blessed with a wealth of excellent forwards. Mourinho chose to start Kane, Son, Moura and Erik Lamela on attack for Saturday's game against West Ham. That means Bale, Dele Ali, Vinicius and Steven Bergwijn all are fresh to face Wolfsberger if Mourinho selects them on Wednesday.

Competition for places is healthy, and there will be a clear motivation for Tottenham's forwards to shine in this game.

                    Wolfsberger Struggles in Defense

That could spell bad news for Wolfsberger, which really struggled to deal with Tottenham's pace and movement in the first leg. It has been an underwhelming season for the team, which is fifth in the Austrian Bundesliga with eight wins, three draws and seven defeats in 18 games.

Wolfsberger also has a negative goal difference, which is pretty unimpressive when you consider the overall level of quality in the Austrian league. It is 16 points behind league-leading RB Salzburg and has the fifth-worst defensive record in the Bundesliga.

Tottenham again should be able to capitalize on Wolfsberger's defensive weaknesses if it puts in a reasonable degree of effort.
