ANALYSIS: The Scarlet Knights played the nation's eighth-toughest schedule and, with Myles Johnson inside, will make it hard for Clemson to score. They'll be happy to get out of the Big Ten gauntlet. The Tigers dropped two of their last three, beating Pitt while losing to Syracuse and undermanned Miami. They went 11-1 at home but were not impressive away from Clemson.

Best Bet – *Villanova (-6.5) over Winthrop (OU: 143)

Villanova obviously isn’t as good without Collin Gillespie but the Wildcats still have plenty of talent and the market has overreacted to their back-to-back losses to mediocre teams Providence and Georgetown. Villanova lost those games by a combined 3 points but being -6.3% in 3-point percentage differential and being outshot from the free-throw line 62% to 88% was what led to those losses and that negative discrepancy is not likely to continue. It also hurt that Justin Moore played just 12 minutes in Gillespie’s first game not playing, which led to more minutes from inexperienced players. Moore returned to play 27 minutes in the next game but fouled out and I expect him to return to the starting lineup, which will lower the minutes of weak link Chris Arcidiacono, who has played 59 minutes the last two games after playing just 17 minutes all season prior to Gillespie’s injury. Obviously, that’s a huge drop from Gillespie but Arcidiacono’s minutes will likely be reduced going forward and Nova is about 3.5 points worse. However, that still doesn’t justify a line this low and my ratings favor Villanova by 9 points (143.1 total points) and they’re a 1-Star Best Bet at -7 or less.

ANALYSIS: Toronto will be full strength for the first time in weeks off COVID protocols, with OG Anunoby the last to return Friday -- remember, the Raptors play home games in Tampa. I thought they had a reasonable shot of the outright upset as it was simply because everyone is back and Utah is playing its fourth road game in six nights, but now I'm definitely taking the points with Jazz center Rudy Gobert, arguably the most disruptive defender in the NBA, potentially out due to back spasms. He's listed as questionable -- but being as this is the second of a B2B and he needed treatment Thursday, I think he rests.

ANALYSIS: Indiana burned me Wednesday vs. short-handed Brooklyn, and the Pacers really should be much better than they are but have dropped nine of 11. Miami was upset Wednesday in Memphis, but there's no shame in that and the Heat have been playing very well of late. Jimmy Butler was listed as questionable vs. the Grizzlies but played and isn't on the injury report here, so I feel comfortable that Miami should win. Indiana could be without key reserve Jeremy Lamb (10.9 ppg) again.

ANALYSIS: San Antonio will get leading scorer DeMar DeRozan back from personal leave, while Cleveland is without Kevin Love and Taurean Prince. That should be enough for the Spurs to win, but I don't trust them at -4. My main concern is San Antonio, which has been much better on the road than at home, looking ahead to Saturday's trip to Milwaukee.
