      MLB | STL vs MIA
      Play on: UNDER 8 -101

Monday MLB Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between St. Louis and Miami at 6:40 pm et on Monday.
After a wild, high-scoring series in Cincinnati I look for things to return to 'normal' for the Cardinals as they stay on the road to face the Marlins on Monday evening. Daniel Ponce De Leon. After pitching reasonably well in 24 appearances in 2018-2019, Ponce De Leon, like many other starting pitchers, took a bit of a step back in a strange Covid-shortened 2020 campaign. On a positive note, his strikeouts per nine innings did rise considerably, all the way to a career-high 12.4. He also gave up fewer hits but command was a big issue as he saw his walks per nine innings jump from an already-disappointing 4.8 in 2019 to 5.5 in 2020. I'm willing to give the young right-hander the benefit of the doubt heading into his first start of 2021 and he draws a favorable matchup against the Marlins, a team he's faced just once before, tossing six innings of two-hit shutout ball back in 2019. Trevor Rogers had a trying rookie season for the Marlins, posting an ERA north of six to go along with a 1.61 WHIP. Keep in mind, we were talking about a very small sample size as he pitched just 28 innings. I look for Rogers to settle down a bit here in 2021, noting that he did record an encouraging 12.5 strikeout-per-nine inning rate in 2020. Take the under (8*).

Play on: Kings -4 -108 at pinnacle

Jack's Free Pick Monday: Sacramento Kings -4
The Sacramento Kings should be highly motivated for a victory tonight. They had won five straight before losing three in a row to the Spurs, Lakers and Bucks coming in. Now they face a team they should handle in the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight.
The Timberwolves have gone just 2-7 SU in their last nine games overall with their only wins coming against the Rockets and Knicks, both with huge comebacks in the 4th quarter. Minnesota is a tired team right now playing its 7th game in 11 days.
Making matters worse for the Timberwolves is that they are far from healthy right now. Not only are they without D'Angelo Russell (19.3 PPG), they are also likely to be without Malik Beasley (19.6 PPG), Ricky Rubio (8.3 PPG, 6.9 APG) and Jay Nowell (9.9 PPG) for this one. All three are listed as doubtful.
The Kings are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. The Timberwolves are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 home games, including 6-15 ATS in their last 21 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Bet the Kings Monday.

              Dave's Monday Free Play:
              1* on Cleveland Cavaliers +9
The Key: I like the price we are getting on the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight coming off 5 straight losses against a very tough schedule of the Lakers, Kings, Jazz, 76ers and Heat. They can hang with the San Antonio Spurs, who are a tired, injury-ravaged team right now. The Spurs are just 2-7 SU in their last 9 games overall and coming off a pair of overtime losses to the Hawks and Pacers. The Cavaliers only lost by 6 to the Spurs on March 19th in their first matchup this year. And I think they have a great shot of staying within single-digits of them again tonight and possibly pulling the outright upset. The Spurs are just 4-20 ATS in their last 24 games as a home favorite of 6.5 to 12 points. Take Cleveland.

                Play On: San Antonio -9
The Cleveland Cavs travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs on Monday night. Cleveland is 17-32 SU overall this year while San Antonio comes in with a 24-23 SU overall record on the season. Cleveland is 7-18 ATS this year when playing on the road. Cleveland is 5-17 ATS this year in non-conference games. Cleveland is 3-10 ATS this year after 3 or more consecutive losses. Cleveland is 7-21 ATS this year when playing against a team with a winning record. Cleveland is 4-13 ATS last 17 games after a SU loss of 10 points or more. San Antonio is 5-1 ATS this year against Central Division opponents. We'll recommend a small play on San Antonio tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky

MLB | Rays vs Red Sox
Play on: Rays -117 at pinnacle

It appears the 24-36 Red Sox of 2020 wasn't a mirage. Boston really is this bad. How else to explain opening the season by getting swept at home by the Orioles? These losses weren't especially close either. Baltimore outscored Boston, 18-5.
Perhaps this is an overreaction to the Red Sox and maybe the Orioles are an improved team. Having Trey Mancini back certainly is a plus for Baltimore. But I do know this: The Red Sox aren't nearly in the class of Tampa Bay. So laying this short price with the Rays makes plenty of sense to me. The Rays didn't play Sunday. A rare day off on a Sunday and a strong plus for a team that relies heavily on a deep bullpen. Tampa Bay did lose, 12-7, to the Marlins two days ago after winning the first two games of that series. The Rays finished last season 18-5 after losing in their previous game. They also have enjoyed tremendous success at Fenway Park beating the Red Sox in 13 of their past 16 visits to Boston. The starting pitching matchup is Michael Wacha versus Nick Pivetta. I'm not fond of either pitcher. I'd prefer Wacha given a choice. But this is not a starting pitcher-driven handicap for me. I don't expect either Wacha or Pivetta to be around too long. It comes down to the Rays being the much superior team, the Red Sox already struggling and perhaps mentally affected and this being a low enough price to back the road favorite.

Monday's free NBA pick is on the Sacramento Kings as a 4-point road favorite against the Minnesota Timberwolves. I just think the price here is too good to pass up with the Kings. Sacramento has dropped 3 straight, but two of those were to the Lakers and Bucks and the other was a road game against the Spurs two days after they beat San Antonio on the road. The Timberwolves are the perfect team for the Kings to get back on track against. Minnesota is just 2-7 in their last 9 with the only wins coming against the Knicks and Rockets. Bet Sacramento -4!

The Toronto Raptors are coming off a 53-point blowout of the Golden State Warriors on Friday. Now they come in on two days' rest and ready to blow out the Wizards as well. Washington is just 3-11 SU in its last 14 games overall and coming off three straight blowout losses to Charlotte by 10, Detroit by 29 and Dallas by 22. The injury situation is not a good one for the Wizards with Gafford out and Beal and Hachimura both questionable. Washington is 18-41-1 ATS in its last 60 road games against a team with a losing home record. Toronto is 6-2 ATS in its last eight home meetings with the Wizards. Give me the Raptors.

This is a Free play on the Cubs.
The Cubs won the rubber match of their season opening series versus Pittsburgh on Sunday, and I like Chicago in Game 1 versus Milwaukee on Monday.
Trevor Williams will toe the slab for the Cubs, and he's coming off a stellar spring. He was 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA in four appearances. Williams has had success against the Brewers, who are batting a combined .213 over combined 81 at bats against him.
The Brewers hand the ball to Brett Anderson, who didn't miss many bats this spring. The Cubs haven't been fooled by Anderson, batting .380 over a combined 52 at bats in previous meetings.
The Brewers are 5-13 in their last 18 road games.

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR MONDAY, 4/5:

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Monday is with the Phoenix Suns minus the points versus the Houston Rockets. Phoenix (34-14) has won five in a row with their 140-103 win against Oklahoma City as a 14-point favorite on Friday. The Suns have covered the point spread in 16 of their last 21 games after a win by double-digits. Phoenix has also covered the point spread in 8 of their last 10 road games when favored. Houston (13-36) has lost four in a row after their 122-115 loss to New Orleans as a 3-point underdog yesterday. The Rockets have failed to cover the point spread in 11 of their last 12 home games against teams with a winning record on the road. Houston has also failed to cover the point spread in 17 of their last 22 games as an underdog. I rarely endorse double-digit favorites (which is why this was not an official play for Hollywood Sports), but this one came very close. Lay the points with Phoenix. Best of luck — Frank.

                            NCAA-B | Baylor vs Gonzaga
                            Play on: UNDER 160 -118

The Gonzaga Bulldogs have scored under 80 points only three times this entire season but they have yet to play a team with the athletes, skill level and speed on defense as Baylor. The Bears have held four of their five opponents in this tournament to 63 points or under and held Arkansas' explosive offense to 72 in the other. The Bears no doubt watched UCLA run with Gonzaga and trade baskets but I don't believe that will be their game plan this evening. Baylor has the size down low to not allow Timme to get easy buckets and will force him to kick it back out more than he wants to. The Zags will also not get as many second chances as they are accustomed as Baylor is a great rebounding team.
On the other side the Zags play better defense than most people give them credit for. Since February Gonzaga has only allowed 3 teams to score over 71 points which is a reason why 7 of those 14 games have gone Under. Since the Big 12 conference tournament Baylor has only topped 80 points one time and that was their 81-72 win against Arkansas
Recent tournament championship games have gotten off to slow starts which is a big reason that only 3 of them have gone Over since 2010. We all want another back and forth shootout that we saw Saturday night but if you're going to bet the total in this game the Under is the smarter play. The Pick: I'm Betting The UNDER
