Al Cimaglia: Pompano Park Pick 4 Analysis-$20,000 Guaranteed Pool

Pompano Park has 13 races scheduled with the 0.50 Early Pick 4 starting in Race 6. The sequence has a $20,000 guaranteed
pool with a 12% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6

1-Don't Chip Me (2-1)-One move type needs to take advantage of a cozy trip to get the job done. That could happen from this post at this class.
5-Skyway Venus (7-1)-Offers a nice price and can compete with this kind. Looking for Ingraham to leave and get a close-up trip, then take a shot down the lane.
6-American Arrow (9/5)-Will include on the ticket but will offer little value. Not sure Arrow can win unless in the pocket or on the engine. Same could be said for the other short price #1. Hennessey has a way of squeezing into a good seat and that shouldn't be overlooked.

Race 7

3-War-N-Munn (6-1)-This 8-year-old has kept his speed over the years. Got on the engine last week from post 8 and was never challenged, drawing off by 10-lengths in 151.4. This field is deeper but if the effort is the same it could be an encore at a square price.
6-Millennial (4-1)-Beaten chalk versus $25K claimers in last is not in for a tag tonight but fits with this field. The pace could be hot and if so chances to cash the top check go up but will need a sharp steer.
7-Agedchedar Hanover (3-1)-This is another Jim McDonald and Hennessey combo as in the last race and they are similar in needing a quick start and a cozy trip. Has the gate speed to land on top or to be sitting behind #3 and either trip can work well.

Race 8

1-Oreo Dream Xtreme (3-1)-Form has been dull since being claimed for $12,500 on 2-3 but drops to a very soft spot. Boyd should be able to protect the rail and be on the point or in the 2-hole and this could be a wake-up call.
5-Hesallaboutthebass (3-1)-Doesn't win often but at this level could be in the mix. Does have decent gate speed, could get the jump on the program chalk #6 and make the most of an efficient trip to take a picture.
6-Beach Forecast (8/5)-Beach 3-year-old didn't race as at 2, has 1 win in 2 starts and will be a very short price. Drops after racing from the back against better. Hennessey could be more aggressive here and looks like a threat, but not a lock.

Race 9

1-Beyond The View (1-1)-Beaten chalk won in March versus $5K claimers and now drops in for a $4,000 tag. The drop could be because the meet isn't almost over or something might be wrong. Raced 1st over into hot fractions 2 back and was bet last week and just missed. So, leaning towards an easy spot for a win and should be dialed on high.

Delta Downs - Race #1
Picks Notes
#8 Monzza Firster offers a bit of appeal in a race where the 9/5 ML chalk will be making his 11th start. Price should be right for modest connections with a bullet work in tow.
#2 Sag Harbor Obviously there is a good chance he'll handle these today, but he's short on excuses after 10 starts. First local try gives him a big claim on this.
#6 Silver Chalice Woke up a bit with Lasix last time out, and he gets a better draw after getting hung out wide in that last one. Chance.
Race Summary Monzza goes first out in a race that could become chaotic if Sag Harbor doesn't score, and he has been quick enough in the mornings to suggest he can be in the mix from a wide draw.

Delta Downs - Race #4
Picks Notes
#3 Halfglamorous She bounced back well enough after the clunker two starts back, and she looks like a good while making her first start with the locals.
#5 Inawic She has been really good since showing up locally, and she just missed with similar last time out. The one to beat at a likely short price.
#8 Therunawaycamp She steps up off the even Fair Grounds run, but that effort doesn't leave her too far off what it might take to land a piece of this.
Race Summary Halfglamorous seems like a good fit here and might be the right one to post the mild upset of Inawic, who is the clear one to beat off her last three.

Delta Downs - Race #8
Picks Notes
#3 Lafitte's Fleet He was competitive in his only local try and brings some pretty fast Fair Grounds form with him. Price is probably not going to be much, but he seems likely to handle this field.
#8 Bodemeister Wind He was a bit one-paced off the claim, but I like the fact that he's still protected in allowance company after that one when they could have easily justified sending him back with claimers off that last one.
#1 American Code He has turned in some good efforts for the new team after leaving the Baffert barn, and he may be really well suited to this seven furlong trip around two turns.
Race Summary Lafitte's Fleet should be tough with this group after chasing some decent winners at Fair Grounds, and there isn't a ton of depth in this race to be concerned about.

Picks Notes
#4 Shesomajestic Was third in Oaklawn's Spring Fever and was third in a top-flight allowance last out; was an easy winner here last year.
#2 Raintree Starlet Cruised in her two at Oaklawn and steps up to stakes company; clearly a threat on the front end.
#5 Zanadu Was up in time in an allowance at Houston and posted an allowance win at Churchill last fall; makes her second for Young, who is hitting at 33 percent here.
Race Summary Shesomajestic has been with seriously talented distaffers and can answer the call in this one.

Will Rogers Downs - Race #7
Picks Notes
#1 Mesa Moon Just missed at Houston last out and has been running with some of the region's top sprinters; should be able to handle these.
#5 Oh What Luck Overwhelmed the opposition in his first three races and was third at Remington in his first career loss; has some freakishly good performances despite the fact he's a 6-year-old with four starts.
#6 Euramaster Was claimed back by original owner-breeder Helzer and while not a huge threat to the top two is a contender for the third spot.
Race Summary Mesa Moon is extremely rapid, can benefit from the inside post and should be able to dig in when called upon.

Will Rogers Downs - Race #8
Picks Notes
#1 River Ruby Was fourth vs. maiden specials in her only start and can respond to this drop in class; trainer Gladd is 3 of 7 here.
#5 Gospel Tiz Joy Ran on for second last out and stays at the same level; capable of being in the mix throughout.
#6 Miss Coffeyville Was third at this level two races back before tiring against maiden specials; will show speed here.
Race Summary River Ruby ran a decent fourth on debut last out and will benefit from the drop in class; one to hold off.

Strong lean to Everton on the outright markets for Monday.
While Everton are coming off a three game winless run recently, they have been strong on the road this season, registering the league's 4th best overall road record this year at 29 points with nine wins from fourteen games.
They completely dominated Crystal Palace last week 2.53 to 0.60 xg, and had a 1.70 to 0.75 advantage in the loss to Burnley in the game prior, so statistically they're getting into the right area's, just failing to convert.
While that's a problem Brighton know all too well themselves, what Everton have over their hosts here are genuine finishers in Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Rodriguez, so unlike Brighton, this is a blip rather than an underlying problem.
This is a big price on the Toffees to win here and I think they're worth a shot on Monday night at +230 to win outright.

THE DUSTMAN - Must be given consideration here on the basis of the figs in the speed realm alone. It's a good signal that Rivera is using Salazarbecerra on this horse. NO MAS - Elliott has a solid win percent with horses racing in dirt sprint races. This gelding has some longshot angles I like to take a chance on.

Solid average Equibase Speed Figures in dirt sprint races make this horse a solid contender. FIFTY PROTECTION - Have to look at solely on class, with some of the most respectable class figures of this group. He has been racing strongly recently while recording strong speed figures.

MEET JOE - Last ran at Turf Paradise and finished fourth. Reviewing his Past Performances, I see he was close at the finish line, within five of the winner. EPS (earnings per start) is something that I feel can be a most important handicapping factor. This animal is ranked number 1 in this field. HENNESSY'S SQUIRT - Really have to believe this beautiful animal is going to be on the money at the wire. EL DORADO STORM - When Cruz and Brown team up on equines the return on investment has been fabulous at +150. After the race aboard this equine on March 15th, the jock is going to be in tune with the gelding much better. PP data show this racer with three improving Equibase speed figures. Cruz should be on a live one in this race. I believe that this contest's shorter trip should help this gelding.
