The Nationals (+128) are worth a look as a small home dog against the Phillies in Wednesday's MLB action. This is just too good a price to pass up with Washington on their home field with a quality arm like Jon Lester on the mound. Lester is no longer an elite ace, but still very good at his craft. Zack Wheeler has been great, but I could seem him a bit flat here off a complete game in his last start. Wheeler also has a mere 4.49 ERA in 20 career starts against the Nationals. Play Washington +128!

Play on: Blue Jays -107 at pinnacle

My free play is on the Tor Blue Jays at 7:20 ET. The Toronto Blue Jays are 18-16 (2 1/2 games back of Boston in the AL East) after a come-from-behind victory 5-3 on Tuesday in Atlanta. Toronto swept three games from the Braves on April 30-May 2 in Dunedin, Fl and will now look for a FIFTH straight win over Atlanta in the second contest of this three-game series. The Braves have won three straight NL East titles (were ONE win away from a World Series appearance in 2020) but Tuesday's loss drops them back under .500 (17-18) on the season. Atlanta is also 2 1/2 games back in their division, trailing the NY Mets (17-13) and Phi Phillies (19-17). Wednesday's pitching matchup features a pair of lefties, Toronto's Hyun Jin Ryu (2-2, 3.31 ERA) squaring off against Atlanta's Max Fried (1-1, 8.44 ERA). Ryu spent his first six seasons with the Dodgers, winning 14 games in three different seasons, including 2019. Ryu signed a four-year deal with Toronto prior to the 2020 season and became the team's ace, going 5-2 with a 2.69 ERA in 12 starts (Jays were 9-3). Ryu had a 2.60 ERA in his first five starts this season but was just 1-2 (team was 2-3). He then was placed on the injured list with a strained glute. He returned on May 6 at Oakland and allowed four runs on six hits, one walk and six strikeouts in five innings. However, he was the beneficiary of generous run support, as the Jays scored 10 times. Max Fried was OUTSTANDING in 2020 in which he went 7-0 with a 2.25 ERA in 11 starts (Braves were 10-1). Fried made this season's Opening Day start for the Braves and allowed two ERs in five innings, taking a no-decision in a game Atlanta lost 3-2 in 10 innings. However, his next two starts were AWFUL, as he allowed 17 hits and 12 ERs in just SIX innings. He was then placed on the IL list due to a right hamstring strain with an 11.45 ERA. He returned from the injured list on May 5 and beat the Washington Nationals 5-3 (5 IP / 4 hits / one run / 6-1 KW ratio). "That's as good as his stuff has been all year," Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said of Fried's first game back. "The breaking ball, sinker had good life, the fastball was coming out of the hand really good. It just looked more like Max." Ryu is 3-2 with a 2.62 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in eight career starts vs Atlanta (teams are 5-3), while Fried has faced Toronto just once, winning 10-1 last August (6 IP / 4 hits / 1 ER). I realize Fried looked sharp in his last outing but Ryu is a formidable opponent and Toronto has had Atlanta's 'number' here in 2021. Jays make it FIVE straight over the Braves. Good luck...Larry

                            Listed Gant & Woodruff
Big line here gives us value on the road underdog. On the season St Louis ranks 17th in wRC+ and Milwaukee 28th.
John Gant has been solid for the Cardinals with a 2.15 ERA and a 51 average game score. On the road he has been even better with game scores of 54, 49 and 53. Brandon Woodruff has been terrific with a 1.73 ERA and a 67 game score. But he’s pitched better on the road this season. His game scores at home have been 41, 67 and 57. Really good, but not as strong as away from Miller Park.
The Cardinals are the better team, and have the better offense. Gant is better than league average and is worth a shot as an overpriced underdog here. Keep in mind as good as Woodruff has been the past two years, his record is only 5-6.

                                Play on: OVER 6 -122

#29/30 ASA FREE PLAY ON: OVER 6 goals Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators, Wednesday at 8 PM ET - The Maple Leafs won the most recent meeting 6-5 and 9 of the last 15 games between these two division rivals have resulted in an over. The 4 most recent meetings this season have averaged 8 goals a game. Their recent games have featured a lot of shots on goal and plenty of quality scoring chances for each club. With that being said, this game should have no shortage of similarities as the Senators are, of course, eliminated from the post-season as of quite a while ago and the Maple Leafs already wrapped up the #1 spot in this division. Look for a rather high-scoring, open-ice type of affair here as a result. ASA FREE PLAY on OVER 6 goals
