The Philadelphia Phillies are 23-24 and the Miami Marlins are 22-24. The good news for both teams is that they play in the NL East, where the first-place Mets are just 21-19, making them the ONLY team in the division with an above-.500 record. The Phillies come in off a 6-2 win over the Red Sox on Sunday but visit Miami having lost SEVEN of 10. As for the Marlins, they are coming off a week in which they took two of three in Philly and then two of three at home against the Mets.
Monday's contest is the first of a four-game series at loanDepot park (Yes, that's what it is called!). Tonight's starting pitchers are Zach Eflin (2-3, 3.77 ERA) and Trevor Rogers (6-2, 1.74 ERA), who just beat Eflin last Wednesday in Philadelphia, 3-1. This is Eflin's sixth season (all with the Phillies) and his career record is a VERY mediocre 31-36 with a 4.54 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. Rogers made seven starts for Miami in 2020 and was 1-2 (team was 3-4) with a 6.11 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and .283 BAA. What a difference a year has made. Rogers, still considered a rookie, has gone 6-2 in nine starts in 2021 (team is 6-3), posting a 1.74 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and .198 BAA.
In this quick "re-hook," I'd typically be on the loser of the first matchup but in this case, I'm bucking that trend. Eflin owns a 2.25 ERA in his five home starts in 2021 but a 5.68 ERA in his four road starts (Phils are 1-3). Meanwhile, Rogers has been consistent home and away. What's more, he comes in a winner of FIVE of his last six starts. His lone loss in that span was 3-1 at Washington on May 2. However, in his five wins (two prior to the Washington game and three since), he's allowed just three ERs over 31.2 innings (0.85 ERA) with a 36-7 KW ratio. Another edge benefits Miami, as the left-handed Rogers faces a Philadelphia lineup that in eight road games against lefties has averaged just 3.8 RPG.

ASA NHL FREE PLAY ON Montreal Canadiens Money Line (+145) over Toronto Maple Leafs, Monday at 7 PM ET - A lot of value with a big home dog here. The home team has taken 6 of the last 8 meetings between these clubs. Montreal looked very strong in taking Game One of this series. The Maple Leafs battled back in Game Two and played a great game but they are still without John Tavares and seem very over-valued here. This money line opened up in the -135 range and now Toronto is as high as the -165 range. This is simply too much value to pass up on. Toronto is the better team but the Canadiens are not an easy team to play against in the playoffs. Last year they knocked Pittsburgh out in the bubble in Toronto. Then Montreal gave a Flyers team that was very strong last season a tough time before bowing out of the post-season. The Canadiens can absolutely get another upset win here as Carey Price is known for stepping up in goal to give them big games. Just like game 1 of this series, this is the perfect spot for him to do it again! Montreal Canadiens +145 on Monday are worth a look.

I will gladly take my chances here with the Mets as a -135 home favorite against the Rockies in Monday's series opener. Colorado comes in off a 3-game sweep against the Diamondbacks, but that was at home. The Rockies are a mere 2-17 on the road this season. Colorado just can't get their offense going away from Coors Field. They are averaging just 2.8 runs/game and hitting .209 as a team in their 19 road games.
I definitely could see them struggling to score against Mets' starter David Peterson. While Peterson is just 1-3 with a 4.97 ERA and 1.237 WHIP, you can see the potential in this kid. He's got big time swing and miss stuff, as he's recorded 46 K's in 38 innings pitched this year. He's also been much better at home, where he has a 3.95 ERA and 1.024 WHIP.
Rockies will counter with Austin Gomber. He's 2-4 with a 4.96 ERA and 1.302 WHIP in 9 starts. Colorado is just 1-5 in his 6 road starts this season, where Gomber has a 6.39 ERA and 1.355 WHIP. I know the Mets' offense hasn't been great, but it's just too good a price to pass up. Give me New York -135!

The Heat missed an opportunity to steal Game 1 in Milwaukee, losing a thriller in OT. Jimmy Butler appeared to be bothered by lingering back pain, shooting just 4-of-22 from the field. The Greek Freak was a brutal 6-of-13 from the free throw line, and 10-of-27 from the field. Both teams played strong defensively, and that should continue as this series progresses. The under is 4-1 in Miami's last five playoff games as an underdog, and they have failed to reach the total in six of their last seven Quarterfinals games. These teams have gone under in four of the last five head to head meetings, and tonight's total doesn't seem to take any of that into account.
