New York and Atlanta face off again, and this time they head back to Atlanta. The Hawks are 0-6 OU in the L6, and 6-17 OU as a HF (including 0-4 in the L4). They are also 6-22 OU when leading a playoff series, and 15-21 OU @ home. This is a little bit of a lower total, when you look at a Hawks game, but in the low totals games ATL has tending to favor the under, going 2-10 OU @ H TY when the total is less then 223, they are 10-21 OU on the year when the total is 224 or less, and they are 5-15-1 in the L21 H playoff games w/ a total of 224 or less. The Knicks on the other hand is the team that is even more accustomed to totals like this, New York is 1-11 OU on the road when the total is between 206 - 214, and 8-24-1 OU all year with a total under 214. 5 unit 1H St. Louis Cardinals (-130) over Arizona Diamondbacks (Kim/Peacock) –
St. Louis is taking on the Diamondbacks w/ the LHP Kim on the mound. Even though his record doesn’t show it at 1-2, the Cardinals are 8-2 in his L10 starts, including 5-2 TY (w/ a 3.09 ERA). The entirety of the pitching staff has been solid this year, the staff as a whole has the #8 opponent batting average in the league, holding teams to .221 on the year. St. Louis is now 56-46 in the L102 on the R, which includes going 5-0 TY as an AF (7.8 AF, 2.8 AA), as well as 11-1 as an AF in the L2Y vs. RHP, and 47-20 in L4Y as AF. While Arizona is 30-58 in the L88, including 7-16 vs. LHP, and 6-11 as a HD. This year alone the Diamondbacks are 1-8 in the L9 @ H, 4-9 as a HD, 2-9 vs. LHP, and 0-3 vs. LHP @ H (allowing 8.67 runs/game in those 3 games), and 0-12 in the L12. Arizona is also #28 in opponent runs/game (5.327), #27 in run differential (-1.019) and #30 in opponent BA (.262). Arizona has struggled this year offensively, hitting only .209 TY vs. LHP, and averaging only 3.4 runs in the L7 games. Which doesn’t exactly help a pitching staff that is throwing a SP in Matt Peacock who is only making his 3rd start this season. After being scratched the other night he jumps back into the rotation to face the Cardinals. He has posted an ERA of 4.91, giving up 12 runs in 22 IP, while 8 of his appearances have came out of the bullpen. When you put a pitcher on the mound to start that usually comes out of the bullpen, you can’t anticipate that he will last long, which means that a trip to this struggling Arizona bullpen is going to show up earlier then anticipated, which may be good for St. Louis. With the Cardinals being a top 5 team this year in terms of runs/1H, and with a pitching match-up that looks like it is going to force Arizona to go to the BP early, even more of a reason for STL to put up more runs early.
