Arizona starter Merrill Kelly has been a good innings-eater for the Dbacks but his record of 2-6 and his 5.12 ERA shows that he has been far from dominant. The fact the Angels are on the road here is helping to keep this money line lower than it should be and, that said, the traveler here is absolutely worth a look. The Angels are rolling and have won six of their first eight games in June and are coming off a three-game sweep of the Royals at home. Meanwhile, Arizona, has lost seven straight .
With Ohtani on the hill for the Halos tonight they are a viable option here on the money-line. The Japanese hurler has been in top form garnering a 2.76 ERA in eight starts and has shown steady upward momentum as the season has gone on and should be dominate here vs the Dbacks 23rd ranked offense.
ARIZONA is 2-20 against the money line vs. a starting pitcher whose strikes out 5 or more batters per start this season.

Friday NBA Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between Phoenix and Denver at 10:05 pm et on Friday.
We won with the 'under' in Game 2 of this series on Wednesday and I won't hesitate to go back to the well with the same play (at a slightly better number) as the scene shifts to Denver for Game 3 on Friday night.
The Nuggets haven't been able to slow down the Suns offense through the first two games of this series but we can anticipate a better defensive performance here as they return home in a virtual must-win game. Note that Denver has allowed just 106.9 points per game when coming off two or more consecutive ATS losses over the last two seasons and 104.5 points per game when playing at home as a favorite of six points or less over the last three seasons.
Phoenix has been a tremendous positive momentum play this season but it works in support of the 'under' at this number as well, as the Suns check in allowing just 108.7 points per game after winning four or five of their last six games this season.
While the 'over' has cashed in three of five meetings in this series this season, the lone matchup here in Denver produced only 209 points. In fact, the 'under' has cashed in three of the last five meetings between these two teams in the Mile High City. Take the under (8*).

Two times in a row the Nuggets offense sputtered in the second half of their pair of games in the Valley of the Sun and while Game 1 of the series did push past the total by roughly 4 1/2 points, Game 2 held Under by 3 points as the Nuggets could not even reach the century mark and had to settle for 98 points total in the 25-point blowout loss.

Denver is still a money-making 7-2 Over the total for their Over players in their last 9 games played and they are back home where they have gone 25-14 Over the total for their 39 games played thus far this season!

Phoenix has scored 122 and 123 points in the pair of games played and I have no evidence in those first 2 games that Denver is able to slow down this Suns team whatsoever.

That being the case, I suggest hopping back on the Over wagon for another Over play in this series.

Even with Wednesday's Under these teams have played 3 of their last 4 and 6 of their last 8 overall Over the total. They are also 8-4 Over for the last dozen series meetings.

Denver will show out better on offense tonight. Play the Over.

Friday's free play will be the Braves and the Marlins to land Over the total.

Atlanta's offense had some issues to end their series in Philadelphia as the last pair of games did hold Under and they come to Miami with 3 of their last 4 games having landed Under the total.

That will change tonight as they get set for their second series of the year with division-rival Miami. The Over went 3-0-1 the first time these teams met and tonight's Atlanta starter Charlie Morton has seen 8 of his 12 starts this season land Over the total.

Miami just scored 11 runs last night to close out their series at home with Colorado in a game that saw a combined 15 runs cross. That Over puts the Marlins on a 6-3 Over run for their last 9 games contested.

Sandy Alcantara does own a solid 3.30 ERA, but my feeling tonight is both he and the hot of late Morton are due to get nicked up this Friday night.

Go ahead and play this weekend opener to land Over the total.

The best pitcher in the bigs - Jacob de Grom - will be in action tonight for the New York Mets, but don't you dare sleep on this young rascal in Milwaukee!

Brandon Woodruff is on the short list of elite pitchers in the majors and tonight he will go up against a Pittsburgh team that comes into town losers of 4 in a row with just 8 runs total scored in those 4 straight setbacks.

Cannot expect them to score too many against Woodruff who is 4-2 with a 1.42 season ERA. The Brewers have won 9 of his 12 starts thus far this season and tonight I like them to not only win another start, but do so by at least a pair of runs.

Milwaukee is smoking right now, winners of 11 of their last 13 games and they will be looking for a little payback after dropping 2 of 3 to Pittsburgh in the middle of April.

The Brewers are playing too well right now.

At some point, Pittsburgh Pirates youngster Chase De Jong has to register his first win of the season. Why I think it is coming tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers and their ace Brandon Woodruff is beyond me, but I'm playing the big underdog price.

De Jong is in after looking great over the first three innings of his start against Miami on Saturda. Then he was tagged for five runs across the fourth and fifth innings. The Bucs will go back to De Jong due to injuries in the rotation, and he has to feel the pressure to perform.

Why not tonight?

Sometimes it takes the toughest opposition to get the best from yourself.

Woodruff didn't record a quality start for the first time since Opening Day, and who knows, if he underestimates the Pirates' lineup and gets cute one too many times in the zone, they may make him pay while providing some run support to for De Jong.

Give me Pittsburgh.

My free winner is on the New York Islanders in their Stanley Cup semifinal against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Islanders took care of the Boston, after taking care of Pittsburgh. For me, there's something about the way New York has made its way through the postseason that's been more impressive than how Tampa Bay got by Florida and Carolina.

All formidable series, but what much of the Islanders' success stems from is coach Barry Trotz.

Since the Washington Capitals let Trotz walk after winning the 2018 Stanley Cup, they've won 0 playoff series. The Islanders have won five under his leadership.

I'm familiar with how well Andrei Vasilevskiy is playing, but I'm not convinced the Lightning can play as heavy as the Islanders. We're seeing a similar situation in the Colorado-Vegas series. Where you have a hot goaltender and the fastest line in the NHL, being outplayed by a gritty and physical Vegas team that is taking away the neutral zone, closing gaps and getting its own quality goaltending.

I trust Trotz here, and know he'll have an answer for Stamkos and company, as the Islanders' dream season continues. Take the price in this seven-game series.
