Game: (911) Houston Astros at (912) Boston Red Sox Date/Time: Jun 9 2021 7:10 PM EDT Betting Line Provider: Consensus Line Play Rating: 3 units Play: Boston Red Sox -130 J Odorizzi (RHP), N Eovaldi (RHP) Must Start
The Red Sox had won 5 straight prior to falling to the Astros in the opening game of this series. During the win streak the fewest runs that Boston scored was 5. Jake Odorizzi enters this game winless on the season with a 7.16 ERA. He faced these same Red Sox last time out, allowing 3 earned runs in just 3 innings pitched, a game which resulted in a 5-1 loss. Houston has now lost 4 of the 5 games in which Odorizzi has taken the mound. Nathan Eovaldi is fresh off an appearance in which he allowed just 1 earned run in 6 innings. He’s now put together 3 consecutive quality starts. Take the Red Sox.

Game: (917) Toronto Blue Jays at (918) Chicago White Sox Date/Time: Jun 9 2021 8:10 PM EDT Betting Line Provider: Consensus Line Play Rating: 5 units Play: Chicago White Sox -142 L Lynn (RHP) Must Start
The White Sox will look to build on Tuesday’s 6-1 win over Toronto when they take the field for the 2nd time in this 3 game set. Chicago has won 4 of 5 and 9 of their past 12 games, continuing to cash tickets for their backers on a consistent basis. Lance Lynn has been one of the best pitchers in baseball all season long, entering 7-1 with a 1.23 ERA. Lynn has allowed just 1 earned run in his last 3 starts combined, and has allowed a total of 3 earned in his last 5 starts. Bad news for a Blue Jays team that’s lost 3 of 4. Toronto is struggling to score runs, plating just 7 over their past 4 games. Toronto is also breaking in a new pitcher in Alex Manoah. Manoah has started just 2 games this season and was knocked around for 4 earned in just 3.1 innings pitched last time out. This play qualifies for BIG TICKET status. Take the White Sox.

ANALYSIS: The Braves have won three straight, the first two impressively against the Dodgers, and they can get over .500 for the first time this season. It’s hard to believe but they’ve been playing catch-up all season. On Tuesday, they knocked around ace Aaron Nola, 9-5. Tucker Davidson was sharp in his last start, allowing no runs in 5.2 innings. This will be his third start of the season and fourth of his career. Take the Braves to win.

ANALYSIS: I usually don't like lines this heavy but the Cubs are without Javy Baez, Wilson Contreras, and Kris Bryant in the lineup today. Jake Arrieta has been very bad recently allowing walks and home runs. The Padres have their full lineup, their ace is on the mound in Yu Darvish, and their top relievers didn't pitch yesterday. Take the Padres at home.

ANALYSIS: Since his first start of the season, Kyle Gibson has pitched six innings and allowed less than three runs in all of his starts but his last, where he pitched 5.1 scoreless innings. Zack Littell is opening for the Giants in a bullpen game. The Rangers have lost 12 of 13 games but they are at least showing signs of life. Take the Rangers to ride behind Gibson today.

SAN DIEGO -1.5
ANALYSIS: I've picked each game of this series, backing San Diego, and gone 1-1 on the moneyline. Each time, I've mentioned how weak the Cubs lineup is without Javy Baez. Well, not only is he out Wednesday but so are Kris Bryant and Willson Contreras (rest). I will be STUNNED if Padres right-hander and former Cub Yu Darvish (6-1, 2.25) allows more than one run over seven or so against that lineup. Over his last 10 starts, Darvish is 6-1 with a 1.91 ERA, holding opponents to a .180 BA. Cubs counterpart Jake Arrieta (5-6, 5.26) has an 8.28 ERA in his past six starts. Friars at -105 on runline feels like stealing.

ANALYSIS: I still can't believe I lost Rangers +1.5 on Tuesday -- they led 4-2 entering the top of the eighth and lost 9-4 to the Giants as the bullpen imploded. This is simply a bad team. That said, Wednesday starter Kyle Gibson (4-0, 2.06), who has nine quality starts on the year and almost surely will be traded by the end of July to a contender, has been great. He is 3-0 with a 0.57 ERA in five starts at Globe Life Field this season, with Texas winning all of them. The Giants are basically doing a bullpen day and may just treat this as a throwaway game - I'd bet Buster Posey sits out, for example -- for the most part having to travel out after. Rangers on RL.
