    MLB | LAD vs MIA
    Play on: UNDER 7½ -118

LA Dodgers (Walker Beuhler) vs. Miami Marlins (Trevor Rogers)
Two top notch starters. One in the pitching stratosphere, and one on the way.
The Dodgers haven’t score a ton of runs of late, but with starters like Beuhler and terrific relief pitchers, they haven’t needed to. Of note: a bullpen day against the Nationals, allowing only 1 run in 9 innings.
The Marlins’ pen failed last night, but has been very successful in its last 7 games.
    The wager
    I am taking the UNDER

        Play on: OVER 8½ -110

        Dave's Monday Free Play:
        1* on Indians/Rays OVER 8.5
The Key: The Tampa Bay Rays are capable of covering this OVER on their own tonight, but they should get some help from the Cleveland Indians too. Logan Allen is 1-5 with an 8.85 ERA in 6 starts this year for the Indians, including 0-3 with a 14.73 ERA in his last 3 outings. Rich Hill is having a solid season overall but has come back down to earth of late. Hill is 1-1 with a 5.66 ERA in his last 4 starts while yielding 13 earned runs and 6 HR's in 20 2/3 innings. He is 1-1 with a 6.43 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 3 lifetime starts against the Indians as well. Take the OVER.

The Cleveland Indians travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays on Monday night. Cleveland is 42-38 SU overall this year while Tampa Bay comes in with a 47-36 SU overall record on the season. Logan Allen is 1-5 with a 8.85 ERA overall this year, 0-1 with an 18.00 ERA on the road this season and 0-3 with a 14.73 ERA his last 3 starts. Rich Hill is 6-3 with a 3.70 ERA overall this year and 3-2 with a 3.50 ERA at home this season. Cleveland is 1-6 last 7 games overall scoring only 3.9 runs per game while allowing 6.4 runs per game. Thanks and good luck, Rocky

                1* MLB - Indians/Rays *FREE PICK* on Rays -1.5, -103
Monday's Free MLB Pick is on the Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 (-103) at home against the Cleveland Indians. Rays snapped their 5-game losing streak with a win at Toronto on Sunday and I like them to stay hot back home against a struggling Indians team that has lost 6 straight and come in having scored 3 or fewer runs in 5 straight games. Don't see Cleveland getting that offense going against TB's Rich Hill, who has a 3.70 ERA in 16 starts. As for the Rays' offense, they should be in for a big day against the Indian's Logan Allen, who is 1-5 with a 8.85 ERA in 6 starts. Bet the Rays -1.5!

                  MLB | CWS vs MIN
                  Play on: OVER 9½ -125

Monday MLB Free play. My selection is on the 'over' between Chicago and Minnesota at 7:10 pm et on Monday.
We missed with the 'over' in the Twins 6-2 victory over the Royals yesterday but I won't hesitate to come back with the same play as Minnesota returns home to host the White Sox on Monday.
Dylan Cease will take the ball for Chicago. Three of his last four starts have totaled at least 12 runs. Note that he has posted a 6.08 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in eight road starts this season with the 'over' cashing at a 5-2-1 clip. The Twins will be getting their third look at Cease this season. While they haven't had a ton of success they have managed to score five earned runs on eight hits and five walks over 11 innings. Those two contests totaled 12 and 16 runs.
Behind Cease is a Chicago bullpen that that owns a collective 4.14 ERA and 1.45 WHIP on the road this season. In night games, White Sox relievers have converted 11 saves while blowing 10.
Bailey Ober gets the nod for Minnesota. Chicago has already seen him twice this season (including last week) and has has hit him hard, scoring nine earned runs including five home runs in just 7 1/3 innings. Ober will be pitching on four days' rest on Monday which is concerning as his last two outings haven't gone well (9 ER allowed in 7 2/3 innings).
The Twins bullpen has recorded a collective 4.87 ERA and 1.37 WHIP at home this season with only eight saves converted and six blown. Take the over (8*).

The UNDER (9) is worth a look in Monday's MLB action between the Rays and Indians. This is just too big a number. Tampa Bay will have Rich Hill on the mound, who is 6-3 with a 3.70 ERA in 16 starts. UNDER has gone 18-7 in Rays last 15 at home with a high total of 8.5 to 10 runs. IT's also 12-2 in their last 14 at home when they come in having lost 2 of their last 3. Play the UNDER 9!

Play on: Cubs -134 at Draft Kings

Enough's enough. Off nine straight losses, the Cubs will fall below .500 if they lose again here. I don't see that happening. The Cubs have been on the road for ages. They're 16-29 away from home. Getting back to Wrigley, where they're a healthy 26-13, will be a welcome relief. Note that the Phillies are also much better at home; they're only 15-26 on the road. Davies gets the call and the Cubs are 6-2 when he starts at Wrigley. Moore has only made one start since April and he's got a 6.75 ERA (1.875 WHIP) in four starts overall. The Cubs are 10-4 as home favorites in the -125 to -175 range. Consider Chicago.

                            MLB | Phillies vs Cubs
Play on: Cubs -135 at Mirage

The 42-42 Cubs are a talented team unlike most other .500 or below teams. But they've lost nine in a row, averaging only 2.4 runs per game during this skid.
I usually prefer to play on a streak rather than against it. I'll make an exception this time. I see the Cubs winning here as does the oddsmaker making Chicago a mid-size favorite. A big reason for this is to quote the never-to-be-forgotten Cubs broadcaster I grew up listening to, Jack Brickhouse. He would come on the air saying welcome from the friendly confines of Wrigley Field. The Cubs' losing streak consists entirely of road defeats, the last three occurring by one run each. Now they're back home at Wrigley Field where they have won 22 of the last 30 times for 73 percent. Philadelphia is 15-26 on the road. The Phillies have lost 10 of the last 14 times they've played at Wrigley Field. I hold no special affinity for Cubs starter Zach Davies and his 4.32 ERA. Davies has pitched slightly better at home with a 4.15 ERA. However, I'll take Davies over Phillies starter Matt Moore and a highly-disappointing Philadelphia bullpen that has blown a staggering 22 of 41 save chances. Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel, by contrast, has 20 saves and a 0.59 ERA. He's having a huge year even by his lofty standards. Moore has a 5.79 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and has surrendered five homers in 23 1/3 innings. The forecast is for the wind to be blowing out at 14 mph. So fire up Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, Anthony Rizzo, Wilson Contreras, Joc Pederson, Nico Hoerner and any other good power hitter you can think of on the Cubs because there figures to be plenty of scoring - just more on the Chicago side.

                              MLB | Reds vs Royals
Play on: Royals -117 at pinnacle

My free play is on the KC Royals at 8:10 ET.
The Cincinnati Reds broke a six-year playoff drought in 2020, going 31-29 and erninga wild card spot. The team's postseason lasted all of two games, as they lost 1-0 (13 innings) and 5-0 to the Braves, meaning the Reds were held scoreless over 22 innings. That said, the Reds were expected to contend in the NL Central again in 2021.Cincy heads to KC for a three-games series with the Royals on a four-game winning streak that leaves them 43-40. The Reds may be in second-place in the NL Central but the Brewers are red-hot and have pulled away to a seven-game lead over Cincinnati (Cubs have fallen 8 1/2 back and the Cards 10 back). The Royals lost 104 games in 2018, 103 in 2019 and then went 26-34 in 2020. KC opened its weekend series this past Friday against Minnesota on a nine-game slide but beat the Twins 7-4 and 6-3. However, the Royals couldn't complete the sweep, losing 6-2 on Sunday. KC welcomes Cincy to Kauffman Stadium 35-48 on the season, 14 games back of the first-place White Sox in the AL Central.
The starters for Monday's first game of the series will be Cincinnati rookie Vladimir Gutierrez (3-3, 4.93 ERA) going up against KC veteran Mike Minor (6-5, 5.33 ERA).Gutierrez was promoted to the major leagues for the first time to be the starting pitcher against the Chicago Cubs on May 28. He took the loss after pitching five innings of two-hit ball, one of the two hits being a solo HR in his debut. He's made seven starts in 2021 (team is 3-4) and has a poor WHIP (1.41) to go along with his 4.93 ERA. Minor began his career back in 2010 with the Braves. After the 2017 season, Minor signed a three-year, $28 million deal with the Texas Rangers and went 12–8 with a 4.18 ERA. He got off to a great start in 2019, posting an MLB-leading 2.40 ERA in his first 17 starts. However, he finished the 2019 season going 14–10 with a 3.59 ERA Minor was just 0-5 with a 5.60 ERA in 2020 after seven stars (team was 2-5), when he was traded to Oakland. He signed a two-year, $18 million contract with the Royals prior to this season, with a $13 million club option for the 2023 season and a $1 million buyout. Anyone understand these deals? Minor has made 17 starts (record above), with KC going 8-9.
That said, I don't much trust the Reds with Gutierrez, while Minor can be effective. Note that he's 3-1 with a 2.91 ERA in five career starts vs the Reds (teams are 4-1)
                              Good luck...Larry
