      Dave's Monday Free Play:
      1* on Red Sox/Blue Jays OVER 10.5
The Key: The Toronto Blue Jays are crushing the ball right now with 5 runs or more in 13 of their last 18 games. They will get to Nick Pivetta, who is 0-2 with a 7.06 ERA in 4 lifetime starts against them. Pivetta has yielded 10 earned runs in 10 innings against the Blue Jays this year. Ross Stripling has yielded 10 earned runs in 9 1/3 innings in 2 starts against the Red Sox this year. The OVER is 6-0 in Blue Jays last 6 games against a right-handed starter. Take the OVER.

            Play on: OVER 10½ -101

Monday MLB Free play. My selection is on the first five innings 'over' between Boston and Toronto at 7:05 pm et on Monday.
The Red Sox limp into Buffalo off a consecutive losses against the Yankees, scoring just two runs in the process. Here, I look for them to get off to a strong start at the late, however, with the Blue Jays following suit.
Nick Pivetta will get the call for the visiting Red Sox. While he's been sharp on the road this season, he'll be facing a red hot Blue Jays lineup on Monday, and one that seems to have figured him out going back to last season. In three starts against the Jays since last August, Pivetta has been tagged for 13 earned runs on 19 hits in just 13 2/3 innings of work.
We saw the absolute worst of the Red Sox bullpen last night (we lost a play on the 'under' in excruciating fashion). With that being said, Boston's relief corps has generally been solid this season so we'll look to avoid that group by playing the first five innings only in this one.
Ross Stripling will counter for Toronto. He's been shaky at the best of times this season but has saved his worst for A.L. East opponents, recording a 5.88 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in seven starts against divisional foes. The Red Sox have already seen Stripling twice this season and they've had no difficulty against him, scoring 10 earned runs on 13 hits over just 10 innings.
The Blue Jays bullpen hasn't been great at home this season but I'm still anticipating some positive regression given how well they've performed on the road and they certainly weren't pressed too hard in three straight lopsided wins over the Rangers coming out of the break. We'll avoid the Toronto relief corps and focus on Stripling by playing the first five innings only in this one. Take the first five innings over.

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Cincinnati Reds -109
The Cincinnati Reds will be looking to bounce back after getting swept at home by the Brewers over the weekend in their return from the All-Star Break. They had swept the Brewers the series prior. Now they take on the New York Mets, who have lost three of their last four to the Pittsburgh Pirates and were fortunate to come back and win yesterday. Vladamir Gutierrez has held his own for the Reds this season with a 4.29 ERA in nine starts. He has allowed just 3 earned runs in 12 innings in his last two starts against the Royals and Brewers. Jerad Eickhoff is coming off a start in which he allowed 5 earned runs and 4 HR's in 6 innings of a 4-8 loss to the Nationals. Cincinnati is 21-7 in its last 28 games after a loss by 4 runs or more. The Mets are 24-50 in their last 74 games as road underdogs. Cincinnati is 11-2 in its last 13 games as a home favorite. Give me the Reds.

                      MLB | Cubs vs Cardinals
Play on: Cubs -108 at pinnacle

My free play is on the Chi Cubs at 8:15 ET.
The Chicago Cubs won the NL Central last season, making the postseason for the FIFTH time in six years (won the World Series in 2016). The Cubs' bitter rivals, the St Louis Cardinals, fought through a major COVID outbreak to make the 2020 expanded playoff field, the team's SEVENTH postseason over a 10-year span (won a World Series title in 2011). Both were expected to be division and/or wild card contenders in 2021 but at the moment, neither team's postseason prospects look too good. St Louis was eight games over .500 on May 29 but has gone 16-25 since. As for Chicago, the Cubs were nine games over .500 and tied for first in the NL Central on June 24 but then lost 11 in a row. The two longtime rivals open a four-game series in St Louis on Monday night with each sitting at 46-47. That leaves them NINE games behind the first-place Brewers in the division and if the Cards or Cubs are thinking of a wild card berth, they are currently 7 1/2 games back of the Padres, who currently own the NL's second (and final) wild card spot.
The starting pitchers for the series opener are Alec Mills (4-2, 4.84 ERA) for the Cubs Jake Woodford (1-1, 5.62 ERA) for the Cards. Mills is in his fifth season, having made 48 appearances, including 23 starts (he's 10-8 with a 4.34 ERA). He has made 18 appearances (six starts) in 2021. Woodford made 12 appearances in 2020 (just one start), going 1-0 with a 5.57 ERA. He's made 17 appearances in 2021 (zero starts) and is 1-1 with a 4.62 ERA. Mills is no bargain but this marks his SIXTH straight start and he owns a 3.65 ERA over his previous five (not bad). Meanwhile, Woodford is making his FIRST start of the 2021 season. The Cubs are 6-2 against the Cardinals this season and I'll back Chicago in the series opener.
                      Good luck...Larry

I'll roll the dice with St Louis at basically even money at home against the Cubs in Monday's series opener. Tough spot here for Chicago, who just finished up a 3-game road series at Arizona, while St Louis is staying put at home after hosting the Giants over the weekend.
Cubs are also a mere 18-30 on the road this season, while the Cardinals are 25-19 at home. Chicago also has a pretty mediocre starter going in Alec Mills, who has a 4.11 ERA in his last 3 starts and a 4.50 ERA in 4 road starts. Last time Mills faced the Cards, he gave up 6 runs on 7 hits in just 3 2/3 innings. Give me the Cardinals -101!

                          Jack's Free Pick Monday: Oakland A's -108
It's just hard to feel good about backing the Los Angeles Angels right now when they are without three of their best hitters in Mike Trout, Justin Upton and Anthony Rendon. They have lost four of their last six games to the Seattle Mariners and will struggle to score runs in this series with the Oakland A's.
Cole Irvin has been solid this season for the A's with a 3.65 ERA and 1.179 WHIP in 18 starts. He is 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 0.750 WHIP in his last three starts as well and has allowed 3 earned runs or fewer in six of his last seven outings.
Shohei Ohtani gets a lot of respect from the betting public due to his status as an MVP candidate. But while he has been very good at home this season, Ohtani is 1-1 with a 6.46 ERA in five road starts. He is also 2-2 with a 5.21 ERA in four career starts against the A's. He has allowed 8 earned runs in 6 innings in his last two starts at Oakland.
The Angels are 6-14 in their last 20 games vs. a left-handed starter. Oakland is 114-54 in its last 168 games as a home favorite. The A's are 20-8 in the last 28 meetings. They are also 19-7 in the last 26 meetings in Oakland. Bet the A's Monday.

                            1* MLB - Giants/Dodgers *FREE PICK* on Dodgers -132
Monday's Free MLB Pick is on the Los Angeles Dodgers as a slim -132 home favorite against the San Francisco Giants. We have seen this line drop quite a bit since it opened and I think the value has really shifted to the Dodgers at this price. San Fran is getting a lot of love with Kevin Gausman on the mound, but he's just 1-3 with a 3.73 ERA in 6 career starts against LA. The Dodgers also have a pretty good starter of their own on the mound. Tony Gonsolin has a 2.01 ERA in 6 starts and a 1.35 ERA and 0.825 WHIP in his last 3 outings. Bet the Dodgers -132!
