Reds-125 over Brewers
Mahle/Houser
The worst thing that happen to the Cincinnati Reds was the all-star break because this team was the hottest team in baseball heading into the all-star break. It is now time for the Reds to make their move in the NL Central and it can start tonight as the Brewers are just 4 games ahead of them in the standings. Both pitchers are having good years, but Tyler Mahle has been a strikeout machine and has issued less walks per inning. Let’s see if Cincinnati can continue the hot hand. Take the Reds.

ANALYSIS: For Astros and current White Sox pitcher Dallas Keuchel recently took the lead in the clubhouse for his current team by essentially saying they are beating up on weaker teams and need to do better against good teams like the Astros. His teammates will answer that call Friday night. White Sox starter Dylan Cease was battered by the Astros when he faced them earlier, but he's awful on the road and is 4-0 with 1.81 ERA at home. The White Sox are 31-14 at home, too. Astros starter Lance McCullers is good and has been very consistent, so this one isn't easy. Still, we like the home Sox to step up after Keuchel's call.

ANALYSIS: The Braves haven't done much to inspire confidence this season and they have a worse home record (24-22) than the Rays have road record (25-20). As such, home field doesn't do much for me here. Braves SP Charlie Morton is good, but he's been inconsistent this season and actually much worse at home (4.21 ERA in 11 home starts vs. 2.83 in seven road starts). Rays SP Michael Wacha probably won't be in the game long and the Rays' excellent bullpen is well rested after the All-Star break. We'll take the better team here as the underdog.

ANALYSIS: Chris Bassitt of the Oakland A's is the only All-Star pitcher who is on the mound Friday. In Tuesday’s All-Star Game, he threw 24 pitches, with two walks and surrendered a run. Although he has a stout record of 10-2, expect the Indians to disrupt his outing, and continue their momentum for their fourth straight victory.

ANALYSIS: On Friday, the San Francisco Giants will travel to St. Louis for their first matchup post All-Star break. These two teams met July 5-7 in San Francisco, with St. Louis winning two of three. A loss on July 5 for Giants pitcher Kevin Gausman was due to the bullpen surrendering five runs. With extended time off, expect the bullpen for the Giants to finish the game properly. Back the Giants.
