Analysis:
There's pretty much no way to make a case for the Cubs right now, and I won't attempt to here. But they happen to be the opponent in a spot where I want to go against the Marlins. That's because Jesus Luzardo is starting for Miami. Luzardo has had an absolutely awful season. He went from being what was supposed to be a mainstay in the Oakland rotation to pitching in Las Vegas for the AAA Aviators. Luzardo was dealt to Miami in the Marte deal at the deadline but the change of scenery hasn't made a difference yet. Luzardo wasn't horrible in his first as a Marlin, but he was terrible last time out. Problem remains mostly very poor command and until he fixes that issue, he's a guy to go against. So as miserable as the Cubs are right now, I'm seeing them with a decent sized mound edge here with Alzolay. Not that he's been anything special, but he gets the checks across the board vs. Luzardo. It's a starting pitcher play all the way on the Cubs to win the F5.

ANALYSIS: This is a unique situation with Cleveland being the first team since at least 2004 to be a road favorite after losing by more than 15 runs at home in its last game (Indians lost 17-0 to Oakland on Thursday). The confidence oddsmakers are showing in Cleveland here is warranted. The Indians give the ball to top (healthy) starter in Zach Plesac. The Tribe won in Plesac’s last start Sunday, also against Detroit. The Indians are 7-0 since July 16, 2019, when Plesac starts as a favorite when they won in his last start as well as his last start against this opponent.
