          BOWLING GREEN @ TENNESSEE | 09/02 | 8:00 PM EDT
          BOWLING GREEN +37
ANALYSIS: This number has risen to the point where I can't ignore it any longer. Bowling Green was terrible last year but brings back a large chunk of starters including its QB (if that's good?) and added a handful of Power 5 transfers. This is way more about fading the Vols, who have a ton of new moving pieces under first-year coach Josh Heupel. I'd imagine they start a bit slowly, build up a nice lead and yank the starters to stay healthy for a much bigger challenge next week vs. Pittsburgh. I'm thinking something like 45-13 Vols in this one.

          COLORADO +1.5
ANALYSIS: Dear oddsmakers, THANK YOU FOR CONTINUALLY GIVING ME TERRIFIC ROCKIES RL VALUE at home. Sincerely, profitable bettor. Since May 21, the Rockies have gone 30-10 (.750) at Coors Field, the best home record in the majors across that span. The Braves could be a bit flat off their high-charged series at the Dodgers to open this week. Injured Ozzie Albies (23 HR, 86 RBI) likely remains out of the lineup.

          BOSTON @ TAMPA BAY | 09/02 | 7:10 PM EDT
          TAMPA BAY -157
ANALYSIS: We were fortunate to win on the Red Sox runline on Wednesday as Chris Sale kept pitching out of jams via double plays and the normally fundamentally sound Rays made a few key mistakes in the field. Again without Xander Bogaerts and a handful of other guys due to COVID here, now I have to fade Boston against Tampa's Shane McClanahan. He went 5-0 with a 2.76 ERA in five starts in August, setting a club record for wins in August and a club rookie record for wins in a single calendar month. The lefty held the Sox to one run over six on Aug. 1. Boston is 1-9 in its past 10 road games vs. a left-handed starter.

            COLORADO +143
ANALYSIS: The Rockies have been playing well lately including taking two out of three games in Los Angeles. They are also one of the best home teams in the league at 43-22. The Braves have lost three in a row and could be without Ozzie Albies again after fouling a ball off his knee. Chi Chi Gonzalez has struggled but he has the experience of pitching at Coors Field. This should be closer to a toss up, take the Rockies at home.

ANALYSIS: Triston McKenzie comes off the IL to start and he has figured it out. In August, he was 2-1 with a 1.93 ERA and pitched a quality start every outing. Mike Minor has been solid lately but he was hit hard by the Indians last time facing them. The Indians hot hitters right now are all righties and should cause problems for Minor. The Royals are a heavy strikeout team and I think McKenzie and the Indians bullpen should continue giving them fits.

ANALYSIS: The Rays hit into three double plays last night and had two runners thrown out at home. They had the leading run on second base with no outs in both the 7th and 8th innings but couldn’t get one over, and the Red Sox still won by 1 run in the 9th inning. The Rays have won 9 of their last 10 games and the Red Sox are still without many players. Most notably, their two best relievers available in Garrett Whitlock and Adam Ottavino pitched yesterday. Both these teams struggle with lefties but Shane McClanahan has pitched at least 5 innings allowing 3 runs or less in his last 8 starts. Eduardo Rodriguez is very hit or miss but he has a 4.88 ERA in his last 7 starts. Take the Rays at home.

ANALYSIS: You know what I like to say ... Stick With What Works! The Rockies are back home, where they are 43-22. That means they play like a 107-win team at home. They've gone 10-2 in their last two homestands and we went 4-0 on the last one. Why stray? Meantime, the Braves have lost six of eight against tough competition after getting fat against mostly weaklings. The Rockies might not look as tough as the Yankees, Giants or Dodgers, but when in Coors Field, they absolutely are that tough. Ride 'em until they buck ya.

ANALYSIS: Indians starter Triston McKenzie is throwing the ball very well of late. In four starts in August he had a 1.93 ERA and 28 strikeouts against two walks in 28 innings. He's also totally shut down the Royals in three outings this season, having allowed only one run in 15 2/3 innings. On the other side, it's been a while since Mike Minor wasn't bad. The Royals are 2-9 in his last 11 starts and he has a 6.46 ERA in that time. So we've got the better team having a much better pitching matchup with very playable odds. Take 'em.

ANALYSIS: The Red Sox broke the Rays' nine-game winning streak on Wednesday, but that was with Chris Sale on the hill. This time around it's Eduardo Rodriguez in front of a COVID-ravaged bullpen. He's been terrible this season with a 5.12 ERA. Even if he holds the Rays down one time through the order, it won't take much longer for them to bust through offensively. The Rays send rookie sensation Shane McClanahan, who has a 2.84 ERA in his last eight starts, seven of those Rays wins. He's 6-1 at home and the Rays are 43-24 at home. Play the winner. Stick with what works.

                PITTSBURGH @ CHI. CUBS | 09/02 | 8:05 PM EDT
                CHI. CUBS -130
ANALYSIS: I'm backing the Cubs to win their third straight Thursday behind Keegan Thompson. He's thrown 4.2 scoreless innings versus the Pirates this season. Chicago should have success against Mitch Keller, who has a 6.75 ERA and 1.81 WHIP. Look for the Cubs to beat Pittsburgh for the sixth time in the last seven tries.
