ANALYSIS: The Rays are sitting four semi-regulars in Austin Meadows, Joey Wendle, Ji-Man Choi and Kevin Kiermaier (and Wander Franco remains on the IL). That's a fair amount of power on the bench other than Kiermaier, who is one of the best defensive outfielders in the majors. It's the end of a nine-game road trip, so the Rays as a whole might be dragging. It's Jays ace lefty and Cy Young contender Robbie Ray (11-5, 2.69) on the mound. He has a 2.00 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 27 innings this year vs. TB. The Jays are 6-1 in their past seven after a loss.

ANALYSIS: Seattle has generally been the American League runline version of Colorado in that the Mariners have been money at home on the RL. The M''s also are 30-22 in day games, while Boston is 24-28 for what that's worth. Seattle lefty Marco Gonzales is 7-0 with a 2.54 ERA in his 11 starts. The Sox are 3-10 in their last 13 road games vs. a left-handed starter. Boston rookie Tanner Houck has been a bit worse on the road (4.12 ERA) and during the day (4.08 ERA). A couple of Sox regulars are taking a seat (but none of their All-Stars).

ANALYSIS: The Cardinals just took 2 out of 3 games from the Reds and won the first two games of this series against the Mets. The Mets are 43-30 at home this season so I think they should be favored but not by this much. Jon Lester hasn’t allowed more than 1 run in any of his last 4 starts and the Mets struggle against lefties. Tylor Megill has been hit or miss this season and he’s still a rookie. The Cardinals have won four games in a row catapulting into the Wild Card spot and I think they ride that momentum tonight. Take the value in the Cards

ANALYSIS: Michael Wacha has pitched very well lately not allowing more than three runs in four straight starts. Robbie Ray has pitched well against the Rays this season, but this would be the fifth time the lineup sees him. He was on a quality start streak before his last start where he allowed 3 ER in 4.1 IP. This Rays team is also sneakily has the second highest wOBA in the league since the trade deadline, despite their poor overall numbers against lefties. The Orioles hit lefties well and just got to Ray. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rays can pull it off either. The Blue Jays should be favored but this line should be much closer to -125.

ANALYSIS: The Red Sox struggled against lefty Tyler Anderson yesterday and I think that should continue against lefty Marco Gonzales today. Gonzales is 5-0 with a 2.20 ERA in his last 7 starts and he hass pitched at least five innings in 11 straight starts allowing more than 3 runs just once. This is essential because the Mariners bullpen has struggled a bit lately so their impact will be minimized. Tanner Houck is 0-2 with a 4.31 ERA in his last 7 games and he hasn’t made it deeper than 5 innings this season for an equally worked Red Sox bullpen. Neither team is playing especially well right now so I am going to ride with the home dog.

ANALYSIS: Did the Giants really open as home dogs again? The line is now a pick em in the time I did my write up but the oddsmakers continue to get this matchup wrong. The Giants have won 9 straight games and the Padres have lost 5 straight games. The Giants are the 2nd best team since the deadline and the Padres are the 6th worst. The Giants are 47-23 at home while the Padres are 30-39 on the road.

                      10 UNIT Seattle Mariners +1.5 (-145) over Boston Red Sox (Gonzales/Houck) –
Right off the bat Seattle has taken advantage of Boston on the run line in recent games, they are 6-1 in the L7 as a D < 175, and 4-1 on the RL vs. BOS TY. Marco Gonzales in on the mound and he is looking to continue the trend, he may have an ERA over 4.00 but since the all-star break he has been one of the best pitchers there's been, going 7-0 with a 2.34 ERA in his 10 starts since the break. In his L7 he is 5-0 w/ a 2.20 ERA and just in the L3 games, Gonzales' has won all 3 starts with a 3.50 ERA, allowing opponents to hit a measly .197 in his day starts. In the L7 Gonzales starts as a D, SEA is 7-0 on the RL, going along with a 16-5 record on the RL as a HD vs. NDIV opponents, 19-9 as a HD vs. RHP, and 28-9 on the RL as a D vs. RHP w/ a line < 148. Boston on the other hand, may be one of the better teams on the year (may be not so much as of late..) but on the RL they have struggled and Houck on the mound with ERA over 4.00 on the road AND in day games, doesn't exactly help, along with Boston's RL records of 4-7 in Houck's starts, 2-6 as a F in his L8 starts, 0-5 as a F w/o a DH w/ a line > -200 in his 5 starts. Boston is also 7-17 on the RL as an AF, 1-5 on the RL in the L6 as AF vs. LHP, 4-14 on the RL as AF vs. NDIV opponents (INCLUDING 1-10 W/ A LINE > -150)!!

ANALYSIS: Two straight Giants wins here on SportsLine, so why would I stray? Stick with what works! I love the -105 here and we're able to get it because it's Joe Musgrove on the mound for the Padres. He's having a very good season. If we were going to nitpick, he's a full run worse on the road than at home and the Giants have beaten him both times they faced him. The main thing here is picking the Giants. They are 47-23 at home, have won nine in a row and have outscored the Padres 15-2 so far this series. They've won all three games Dominic Leone has opened so far. Let's make it four.

                        CLEVELAND -105
ANALYSIS: I realize it's tough to trust the Cleveland offense, but we're going to ride one of the breakout pitchers of the 2021 season. In his last 11 starts, Cal Quantrill has a 1.97 ERA while holding opponents to a .202/.280/.325 line. He totally stifled the Twins last time out, too. The Twins actually took three of four in Cleveland last week, but have lost five of seven since. The offense is still pretty uninspiring overall, too, averaging 3.5 runs while hitting .222 in their last 20 games. On the other side, Twins starter Griffin Jax has a 6.72 ERA.

ANALYSIS: Mariners starter Marco Gonzales hasn't lost a game since July 3. He's 7-0 since while the Mariners have gone 9-2 in his 11 outings. He's been better at home than on the road this season and I still don't fully trust the Red Sox right now, as they've lost six of their last nine while dealing with a COVID outbreak and its aftermath. Red Sox starter Tanner Houck has a somewhat limited sample in the majors and has had some success, but he doesn't work deep into games and the compromised Red Sox bullpen has been an issue for weeks.
