Max Fried has been one of the best starters in baseball this season. He is 13-7 with a 3.18 ERA in 27 starts, including 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA in his last three. He has given up 3 earned runs or fewer in 11 consecutive starts. Aaron Nola is 9-8 with a 4.64 ERA in 31 starts this season, including 4-5 with a 5.32 ERA in 17 road starts. He is 1-1 with a 5.09 ERA in his last three starts against the Braves this season while giving up 10 earned runs and 5 HR's in 17 2/3 innings. Give me the Braves.

Dave's Wednesday Free Play:
1* on Detroit Tigers +162 The Key: I like the price we are getting on the Detroit Tigers today as big road underdogs to the Minnesota Twins. The Tigers are 10-7 in their last 17 games overall and have been underdogs in all 17 games. Casey Mize is 7-8 with a 3.68 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 29 starts this year, and 4-3 with a 3.35 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 15 road starts. Mize has yielded 4 earned runs in 10 innings in 2 starts against the Twins this year. The Tigers are 7-3 in Mize's 10 starts as an underdog of +150 or higher this year. Take Detroit.

MLB | Tigers vs Twins
Play on: Tigers +162 at William Hill
Baseball is about value. When you see it you need to grab it. That's the case here. Minnesota is 17 games below .500. The Twins have a losing record this month. They are 4-9 in their last 13 home games. Detroit has a better record than Minnesota by five games. It's not like Bert Blyleven is on the mound either for Minnesota. The pitching matchup is Casey Mize versus Michael Pineda. Mize is one of the best pitching prospects in baseball. He's 7-8 with a 3.63 ERA. The Tigers have been reluctant to pitch him more than three innings during his last four starts. Maybe Mize will pitch longer since this figures to be his final start of the year. Pineda is your typical mediocre pitcher with an 8-8 record and 3.73 ERA. That ERA climbs to 3.92 when he pitches at home.

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR WEDNESDAY, 9/29:
My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Wednesday in MLB is with the Minnesota Twins with the money-line versus the Detroit Tigers listing both starting pitchers Michael Pineda and Casey Mize. Minnesota (70-87) has won five of their last seven games after their 3-2 victory against the Tigers in the opening game of this series. The Twins have won 20 of their last 27 games against Detroit. Minnesota has also won 4 of their last 5 games against teams with a losing record. Detroit (75-82) has lost three in a row — and they have lost 9 of their last 11 games against teams with a losing record. The Tigers have also lost 4 straight games as an underdog. Take Minnesota with the money-line listing Pineda and Mize. Best of luck — Frank.

1* Free Sharp Play on Twins -160
The Twins (-160) are worth a look as a decently price home favorite against the Tigers in Wednesday's MLB action. Detroit has lost 3 in a row and you just wonder if the Tigers have any interest here in their final few games, all on the road with nothing at stake for either team in the matchups. Minnesota is playing their final home series, coming off a win, and have a good starter going in Michael Pineda, who has a 2.30 ERA over his last 3 starts. Play the Twins -160!

MLB | Rays vs Astros
Play on: Astros -122 at linepros
FREE PICK - Houston Astros -122 RATING: 30* ROT#: 976
I'll take my chances here with Houston cashing in a win at home as a -122 favorite against the Rays. You have to wonder just how motivated Tampa Bay is right now. They have secured the AL East title and it's all about getting ready for the postseason.
The Astros are almost in that same boat, as their magic number is 1 in the AL West. With how good Seattle is playing and less than a handful of games to play, Houston wants to lock this up now.
Got a pretty good starter on the mound for Houston in Luis Garcia. He's 11-6 with a 3.24 ERA and 1.150 WHIP in 27 starts. Key with Garcia is betting him at home, where his ERA is more than a full run better at 2.12. His WHIP also drops way down to 0.941. Give me the Astros -122!

MLB | Padres vs Dodgers
Play on: Dodgers -1½ -136 at linepros
1* MLB - Padres (Weathers)/Dodgers (Scherzer) FREE PICK on Dodgers -1.5, -136
Wednesday's Free MLB Pick is on the Los Angeles Dodgers on the -1.5 run line (-136) as they host the San Diego Padres. I'm shocked we are getting this good of juice on LA with the run line. I think it's a no-brainer to take it at -136 with the massive mismatch on the mound. Dodgers are sending out Max Scherzer, who has been pitching out of his mind outside of one bad outing at Coors Field. Weathers is basically like extended batting practice for this Dodgers team. One that's due for a big day after being held to 3 or fewer runs in 3 straight games. Bet the Dodgers -1.5, -136!

MLB | A's vs Mariners
Play on: A's -106 at pinnacle
The A's should have the edge in this one. In Montas' last two starts, he's allowed three combined HITS (1 earned run) through 14 combined innings. That's hits, not runs. The A's won those two games by a combined score of 17-4. Gilbert. 1-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 12 home starts, gave up four runs in five innings, in his last start. On 7/23, Montas struck out 10 Mariner hitters, delivering a quality start. The following day, Gilbert would last only 2 2/3 innings against the A's. Consider Oakland.
