Best Horse Racing Bets for Saturday, October 30, 2021

I found lots of stakes races at the three tracks I chose for my Saturday picks. Charles Town Races and Golden Gate Fields yielded up a single stakes race each, while Keeneland Race Course had three for our wagering pleasure, including the Grade II Hagyard Fayette Stakes.

My Saturday Picks for Charles Town Races

We’ll start on the main track with race two, a seven-furlong starter optional claiming run for West Virginia-bred three-year-olds and upward. I’m backing the 6/5 morning-line favorite, Super Garner, ridden by top jockey Arnaldo Bocachica.
This seven-year-old gelding moneyed 28 of his 43 career starts, winning 18. Even better: He’s presently on an eight-race winning streak, treating the winner’s circles of Laurel Park, Charles Town, Finger Lakes, and Fort Erie like his own personal paddocks.
Bernard G. Dunham trains Super Garner—unsurprisingly his top earner—for owners Dunham Thoroughbreds and KCMH Racing LLC.

Race six is a 4-1/2 furlong allowance run on the main track for three-year-olds and upward that have never won two races. I’m betting my two dollars on the fourth-favored (at 4/1) Hello Carlo, with Carlos Marrero in the irons.
This three-year-old gelding shows the most promise in this short field of five, finishing in the money for three of his four career starts, breaking his maiden in September to post his single victory. His brief history shows more consistency in speed figures than his fellow competitors in this run, as well.
Stacey R. Viands trains Hello Carlo for Mountain View Racing LLC. Viands has put Marrero in the irons for all of Hello Carlo’s races.

Race seven is the Eleanor Casey Memorial Stakes—a $75,000 purse, seven-furlong race for two-year-old West Virginia-bred fillies. This one’s almost a coin-flip, but I have to go with the 8/5 morning-line favorite: The Sky Is Falling, with Arnaldo Bocachica aboard.
The reason for the coin flip is that the second-favored horse in this race—Fancy Her Up—bested The Sky Is Falling in September’s Rachel’s Turn Stakes (Black Type), only to have the favor returned when The Sky Is Falling won the West Virginia Triple Crown Nutrition Breeders’ Classic Stakes (Black Type) earlier this month, forcing Fancy Her Up to accept a third-place finish.
For the record: The Sky Is Falling moneyed two of her three career starts, winning two.
With 30-plus years in the racing business, Jeff C. Runco trains The Sky Is Falling for owner David M. Raim. Bocachica has saddled The Sky Is Falling for all three of her races.

Saturday’s Picks for Golden Gate Fields

We’ll start on the turf course for race seven, the Pike Place Dancer Stakes—a $75,000 purse, one mile grass run for two-year-old fillies. I’m buying a win ticket on the second-favored (at 2/1) Code Ribbon, piloted by Frank T. Alvarado.
This filly finished in the money for all four of her career starts, winning two—her initial maiden attempt back in July, and an allowance race just last month. In this six-horse field, she’s the one with the goods.
Jacqui Navarre trains Code Ribbon for Michael Pollowitz. Navarre has tapped Alvarado to saddle Code Ribbon for all of her races to-date.
Let’s move to the all-weather track for race eight, a 5-1/2 furlong allowance optional claiming run for fillies and mares three years old and upward. I’m going with the 9/5 morning-line favorite, Wheal Grace, ridden by veteran jockey William Antongeorgi III.
This four-year-old filly finished in the money four of her five career starts, winning two. She’s got the statistical lead in this six-horse field.
Jose Bautista, who’s enjoying the highest-earning year of his career right now—trains Wheal Grade for owners-breeders Edward A. DeNike and Theresa DeNike.
We’re back on the turf for race nine, a one-mile allowance run for fillies and mares three years old and upward. I’m betting on one of the 5/1 underdogs (there are two in this race)—Buyback, with Pedro M. Terrero aboard.
This five-year-old mare finished in the money 11 of her thirteen career starts, winning three. Even with that record, she has a slight statistical edge on the 5/2 morning-line favorite in this nine-horse race.
Ranked among the top 100 in his profession for wins, earnings, or both for the past six years, Blaine D. Wright trains Buyback for owners Tracy Henline and Paula Henline.

Saturday Picks for Keeneland Race Course

We’ll start on the main track with race seven, the Bowman Mill Stakes—a $150,000 purse, six-furlong run for two-year-olds. I’m betting my two dollars on the 8/1 sleeper, Roger McQueen, ridden by veteran jockey Adam Beschizza.
This colt moneyed three of his four career starts, winning two—in July, his second maiden attempt and in August, the Ellis Park Juvenile Stakes (Black Type). That gives him the statistical lead in this eight-horse field. Incidentally, Beschizza was in the irons for that stakes win.
With more than two decades in the business, Larry Rivelli trains Roger McQueen for owner Carolyn Wilson.
Let’s go to the turf course for race eight: the Bryan Station Stakes, a $150,000 purse, one-mile grass run for three-year-olds. I’m putting my money down on the third-favored (at 4/1) Like the King, ridden by John R. Velazquez.
One of this year’s Kentucky Derby contenders, Like the King finished in the money for eight of his ten career starts, winning three, including the Jeff Ruby Steaks (Grade III) back in March.
So far, he’s moneyed in four of the six stakes races he’s run in his career. He’s faced tougher competition than this 13-horse field.
Breeders’ Cup veteran Wesley A. Ward trains Like a King for M Racing Group, LLC.
Race nine is the Hagyard Fayette Stakes (Grade II), a $200,000 purse, 1-1/8 mile race on the main track for three-year-olds and upward. My money’s on one of the second-favored entries (there are two at 3/1) in this race: Code of Honor, with Tyler Gaffalione in the irons.
This five-year-old has started nothing but stakes races since winning his initial maiden attempt at Saratoga back in 2018. And he’s not posted a speed figure under 100 since 2019. You like? Me like.
For the record, Cod of Honor finished in the money 13 of his 18 career starts, winning seven. His most recent win was the Philip H. Iselin Stakes (Grade III) at Monmouth Park in August.

Keeneland Picks & Late Pick 4 Betting Analysis for October 30

Closing Day at Keeneland this Saturday has arrived! Just like that ... the October Meet is in the books. We still have one more excellent card to go though ... and it is anchored by the Grade Hagyard Fayette Stakes. Take a look at this .50 Late Pick 4 ticket I have constructed below.

LATE PICK 4 …
LEG 1: (Race 7: Dirt, 6F, Bowman Mill S., $150k, 2)
Leading off this 9th Inning is a heck of a race for 2-yr-olds. Finding a winner out of these 8 is not going to be an easy chore.
I am more than just a little bit interested in Larry Rivelli’s Roger McQueen #1. I know the colt did not have his best fastball in the Iroquois (G3) against the likes of Major General. However, looking over his prior races at Churchill and Ellis Park, we can find some game efforts. Dropping into this spot looks possible, and Adam Beschizza has had a nice Keeneland Meet. I wouldn’t “Single” him though, and going with a pair of favorites is probably judicious.
Steve Asmussen’s Chattalot #2 and Wesley Ward’s Nakatomi #4 deserve inclusion, and both look more than capable. The former is partly-owned by the Bloom Racing Stable, which speaks to careful investment. Jeff Bloom, the principal, heads an excellent organization, and with Asmussen, you know you are getting a well-prepped starter.
As for Ward’s runner, this gelding by Firing Line was entered in the Norfolk S. (G2) this past summer at Royal Ascot, and even though he failed to get in the money, his return to the U.S. was acceptable in the Saratoga Special (G2) and in an OC80k. He gets Tyler Gaffalione aboard once again, and that translates to much respect when it comes to the tote. All 3 of these runners that I mentioned comprise a nice line-up.

LEG 2: (Race 8: Turf, 1 Mile, Bryan Station S., $150k, 3)
The lone turf race on the Haggin is hopefully not going to be moved to the MT. Stay tuned to see the results of that “going stick” decision. Let’s assume that it is going to be wet, and probably when it is all said and done, the conditions will be soft-yielding. When it comes to those that have a positive record when there is more than a little “give” in the ground, look no further than Tyler Gaffalione’s mount, Yes This Time #10. Kelly Breen has this one by Not This Time going in the right direction, and the colt could prove extremely tough if he can “station” himself just off the lead. Gaffalione has now reached “master” status, when it comes to handling routers on the turf. He follows in the footsteps of Castellano, Rosario, and Irad Ortiz. In fact, I am so confident that this is the proper play in this spot that I am willing to take a stand—it’s a “Single.” Solid class, an affinity for “give” in the ground, and a lawn jockey with a record like his, all add up to a score. I probably will not get 3/1, but one can hope.

LEG 3: (Race 9: Dirt, 1 1/8th, Hagyard Fayette S. (G2), $200k, 3+)
The “signature” race of the day, and the final graded stakes race of the October Meet is this one … the Hagyard Fayette. As I mentioned in my “Preview” from a couple of days back, you are going to be hard pressed to find a way around Shug McGaughey’s Code of Honor #7. Infamously part of the 2019 “DQ” Derby, he is headed into his final race before he heads to the Lane’s End breeding shed. Thumbing through his form since that sloppy and odd day in Louisville, one finds some excellent efforts. Though there were few wins over the past few years, he ended up earning in excess of $2.2 million—not too shabby. Though John Velazquez, who regularly rode this one is not present, getting Tyler Gaffalione is a worthy sub. He rode this son of Noble Mission (GB) against Knicks Go at Gulfstream Park in the Pegasus World Cup, and though that was a “taillight” race, that doesn’t mean he does not have his last best run ahead of him.
I would like to think that a “Single” is in order, but something is tugging at me … long shot. For some major value, you should seriously consider Greg Foley’s Major Fed #9. The Ghostzapper colt might not seem like much since he took on Authentic and Tiz the Law in the 2020 September Kentucky Derby. With all of his efforts since that race coming at Churchill, it is hard to imagine him running anywhere else. I think he happens to be quite talented, and I like the price on the M/L of 12/1. The 4-yr-old’s efforts in his past 2 races look impressive … winning both from off-the-pace. The fractions at each of the calls were pretty honest, and that makes me think that the homebred has blocks to build on. The addition of Ricardo Santana is a “major” plus too. This pair that we have marked for the 3rd Leg of the ticket looks like a nice balance. Let’s move on!

LEG 4: (Race 10: Dirt, 7F, MSW84k, 2F)
Coming down to the training title wire, it looks as though Brad Cox and Wesley Ward are neck and neck. They will duke it out in the finale, and maybe when the dust settles, we will have a winner! I want to use both of their entries in this MSW Co. race for freshmen fillies. Cox’s entry is part of Team Godolphin, and just missed in her debut last month at Churchill Downs. Going 6F on the MT under the Twin Spires, Famed #1 lived up to her name and was well-bet. By Uncle Mo, that translates to versatility, and the fact that she is a natural born sprinter. Florent Geroux gets Cox’s call once again.
As for Ward’s play, he has a speedy 1-turn burner of his own in Halo of Fire #9. The Munnings offspring already has tried Keeneland’s MT earlier in the month, and was not a bad try. Finishing 2nd to Funny Business, she could rebound nicely against another large field. Having Joel Rosario back aboard is a major move, and his aggressive style will be needed, especially if this filly is shuffled back early. The Keeneland MT seems to be promoting those with tactical speed, and with this one’s level of fitness, it could be just the ticket. Speaking of … what a cheap ticket I have put together for this final day at Keeneland! Let’s go get a score to finish things up … Bon Voyage to such a special place, and see you in April …

Daily Horse Racing Tips – Keeneland – 30th October

Todd can strike late!

Race 9 at Keeneland is the very competitive $200,000 Grade 2 Fayette Stakes which features the likes of Independence Hall, Code Of Honor and King Fury but they all could all be playing for places as the globetrotting Sleepy Eyes Todd comes in here off the back of a very good second in the Charles Town Classic and is very good on his day.
Miguel Silva’s streetwise son of Paddy O’Prado is ideally suited by coming from off a fast pace at around a mile and an eighth and that is exactly what he will get here as there could be plenty of early speed on from horses in the outside gates and he can just tuck in towards the rear and pick up the pieces late.
He won a Grade 3 and a Grade 2 in his four-year-old year last season before finishing a very good fourth behind Knicks Go in the Pegasus World Cup on his first start as a five-year-old. A fifth-placed finish in the Saudi Cup behind Mishriff was to follow that effort before disappointing in the Dubai World Cup at Meydan back in March.
The general feeling is that he could be the type to get better as he gets older and after a four-month break he returned to finish a very good second in the Charles Town Classic just a couple of months ago, so with a big step forward expected from that, he will be one finishing best of all and can win this.

The verdict is…Win! Danny Gargan’s Judge N Jury is ideally drawn in stall one in the $150,000 Hudson Handicap which is Race 5 at Belmont Park and he can make it back-to-back victories at the course after an impressive win in an Allowance Optional Claimer last time out.
This very promising three-year-old has won three of his five starts to date with his other two wins coming in Maiden Special Weight and Allowance company at Saratoga and I very much doubt we have seen the best of him yet.
Two of his last three starts have resulted in authoritative victories and sandwiched in between those was a sixth-placed effort behind the likes of Jackie’s Warrior and Life Is Good in the Grade 1 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes which came too soon for him.
He is the kind of horse who is suited to being in amongst horses so being drawn on the rail isn’t a bad thing if his jockey Luis Saez can weave his way through the field then he should take some stopping.
An explosive performance

The hotly contested $150,000 Bryan Station Stakes for three-year-olds is Race 8 at Keeneland and there’s plenty of each-way value around here and none more so than in the shape of Dyn O Mite who won his first start at this track last time out and can go well again.
He’s a colt who has been highly tried by connections with no less than sixteen starts to date but with that comes plenty of experience and he’s managed to notch up three wins and multiple placed efforts and comes into this with every chance of hitting the board considering how well he did in an Allowance race here last time.

Key Races & Bets for Saturday October 30, 2021

Race 6 at Keeneland – Post Time 3:40 PM

Mr. Jagermeister, Derby Date and Pyron are the main contenders to win this race.
Mr. Jagermeister has a very strong career record of 12 wins in 31 dirt races and earnings of over $650K. Yet he opens at 12/1 because he’s been running in Minnesota and Iowa recently. He also gets a low percentage jockey but I’m going to ignore that because the horse is drawn very well with an outside post and has the tactical speed to be first or second early the way he likes it. Mr. Jagermeister has put in two strong half-mile works since his last race on 9/8 and is holding his form so must be given top billing as he opens at much higher odds than the other two listed contenders.
Derby Date is coupled with Bon Raison as both are owned by Calumet farm but I am not interested in the other so if Derby Date scratches I will not bet the entry. Derby Date ran poorly in a stakes race last month at Churchill and it was such a bad effort I think it can be ignored. He won two in a row prior to that and Rosario taking the call suggests he will run back to one of those two efforts.
Pyron returned from nine months off four weeks ago and ran second in a fine effort to a stakes winner. He can improve second off the layoff and won a little over a year ago at the one lower allowance condition with a 110 Equibase figure which is tops in the field (Derby Date’s best is 101 and Mr. Jagermeister’s best is 102). Mena rode him for the first time in his most recent start and considering the horse has been first or second in nearly half his 14 races he is a must to use on any exacta tickets we play at the very least.

Bowman Mill Stakes – Race 7 at Keeneland – Post Time 4:12 PM Eastern

Chattalot and My Prankster are the main win contenders in this race.
Chattalot is undefeated in two starts, the first in his debut in July at Saratoga in a huge effort after battling head-and-head for the entire length of the stretch, then after two and one-half months off four weeks ago. In that first level allowance race at Churchill Downs, Chattalot relaxed in third in the early stages, had traffic issues in the stretch, the got up to win. The progression to a 100 Equibase figure, tops in the field, already makes him the one to beat and with logical improvement second off the layoff he should win this stakes race for three year olds in his third career start.
My Prankster won at Saratoga in his debut similar to Chattalot’s win in his debut one week earlier. In that win My Prankster showed a lot of maturity to rally after relaxing in third early. He then ran in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes and although well regarded by bettors at 7 to 2 odds he could only manage fourth. This race is a much better fit and the 95 figure from his debut bears improving so he’s the other main contender to win.
Nakatomi and Freelancer finished second and third, respectively, behind Chattalot in their most recent races and have a shot to be part of the trifecta or exacta.

Bryan Station Stakes – Race 8 at Belmont – Post Time 4:44 PM Eastern

Camp Hope, Yes This Time and Point Me By are the main win contenders.
Camp Hope comes back for the second time at the Keeneland meeting and there is every reason to have faith trainer Ken McPeek knows the colt is the type to be able to do it as many horses have done over the years successfully. He won on 10/8 at a mile and one-eighth on grass powerfully by five lengths after opening up by six with an eighth of a mile to go and was TOTALLY WRAPPED up by his jockey Hernandez (who rides back) at the end. That was his second “A” race in a row as he missed by a neck after leading late in a very tough race at Kentucky Downs on the turf at a mile and five sixteenths. Not only is the cut back to a mile going to hit him right between the eyes, his last two Equibase Speed Figures of 102 and 103 are the best in the field, with only Point Me By and Yes This Time having broken the 100 threshold recently. He won that last race leading all the way but before that he rallied from fourth and about six lengths back early so no matter the pace scenario Camp Hope should be very tough in this situation. Additionally, those two races came against three year olds and upward and he’s facing only three year olds today.
Yes This Time finished second in a career-best effort in the Dueling Grounds Derby last time out. Gaffalione was up for the first time and rides back and the 104 figure is as strong as the 103 Camp Hope earned last out. Like Camp Hope, Yes This Time cuts back in distance, from 1 5/16 miles to this one mile trip, which helps sharpen his late kick and gives him a strong shot to earn his seventh career win in his 11th career start.
Point Me By offers value for the exacta, and for a win bet, not offered by the other two, as he opens at 10/1. He won a turf sprint in his debut in June then in spite of finishing fourth ran huge second time out as he was ninth with an eighth of a mile to go and was fourth and beaten just a length at the end. At a mile in his next start, on 8/14, Point Me By won the Grade 1 Bruce D Stakes (formerly the Secretariat) for three year olds only which is identical to this race. Then he shortened up to six and one-half furlongs for the very tough Franklin Simpson Stakes and had no kick. He will appreciate the stretch out to a mile and rounds out the top contenders here as his Bruce D effort earned a 103 figure.

Point Me By to win at odds of 7 to 2 or more.
This is another race where a Dutching tool, like the one which is free at Amwager, really helps. We are likely to have two horses have much different odds near post time so the tool really helps us gain an edge mathematically when wagering on more than one horse to win.
Note: Yes This Time can be bet to win at odds of 3 to 1 or more but that is his morning line and I doubt he will reach that threshold so we can try to profit from his winning by using him on exacta and trifecta tickets as below.

Hagyard Fayette Stakes – Grade 2 | Purse $200,000 | One Mile and One Eighth | Three Year Olds and Upward
King Fury (6) is a three year old facing older for the first time in his career but considering this is the fall of his three year old year, where three year olds at the top level for dirt horses do very well, for example in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (coming up next weekend), that is no concern. The colt has had a number of ups-and-downs in his career, having been sidelined from last November until this past April after winning an important stakes race as a two year old nearly one year ago this week. Returning from that long layoff this spring, King Fury won the Lexington Stakes at Keeneland powerfully and was set to run in the Kentucky Derby but was scratched on Derby week due to an elevated white blood cell count suggesting an infection. After getting better King Fury was entered to run in the Preakness yet again was not 100% and missed the race. Having no other options early this summer he was entered on turf and ran 10^th, then not yet fully back to his old form finished fifth in the Travers Stakes. Next, a huge turnaround took place in his most recent start on September 25 in the Bourbon Trail Stakes, a non-graded race but one with a strong $275,000 purse and run at a mile and three-sixteenths, so nearly identical to the Hagyard Fayette Stakes. In that race King Fury started fifth of seven and drew off powerfully to win by 13 lengths. There was gas in the tank following that win and considering the effort earned a 109 Equibase Speed Figure, comparable to the 113 figure Sleepy Eyes Todd earned when second in the Charles Town Classic in his most recent race and Code of Honor earned when fourth in the Woodward Stakes in his most recent race, there is little doubt King Fury fits with the best in this field. Better still, as a three year old he hasn’t peaked yet and therefore opening at 9 to 2 is the one to beat and the one to bet (to win).
Similarly, Night Ops (4), who starts at 6 to 1 odds, should be considered as well. Although his career record of 6-7-4 in 25 races isn’t a strong in terms of wins as King Fury’s 4-1-0 record in 10 races. In many of those runner-up efforts, Night Ops was second best to horses who might be heavily favored here, such as Breeders’ Cup Classic bound Art Collector in the Alydar Stakes (at this distance) in August, with Art Collector winning the Charles Town Classic in his next start. Night Ops also ran very well at Keeneland in the Ben Ali Stakes, the spring equivalent of the Hagyard Fayette Stakes, where he was beaten just a half-length at the finish after rallying from fourth. Having earned a 108 figure in the Alydar as well as a 109 figure last year in the Cornhusker Stakes at this distance, Night Ops must be considered strongly here as he is likely to be second at the least.
Code of Honor (7), Sleepy Eyes Todd (1) and Independence Hall (5) are horses we should respect when considering our wagers in this race, but with starting odds of 3 to 1, 3 to 1 and 5 to 2, considering I feel they have no more probability to win than either King Fury or Night Ops, I can’t endorse a win bet on any of them. Code of Honor won the Grade 2 Iselin Stakes in August at a shorter distance and although second in the Grade 1 Clark Stakes at the distance last November has a career record of 0-1-1in five tries at nine furlongs. Sleepy Eyes Todd won four of eight last year but has a record of 0-1-1 in five races this year and at nine furlongs his record of 1-2-0 in six races is okay but not dominant, particularly considering the only win and one of the second place finishes came at Charles Town, which is a unique seven furlong track so that trip is much different than it is at Keeneland. Independence Hall has a very similar record to Sleepy Eyes Todd, 0-1-2 in five races this year, none in which he threatened to win. His last win came at six and one-half furlongs and his career record at this trip is 0-1-2 in four tries.

Win Bets: King Fury (6) should be bet at odds of 5 to 2 or higher.
I would consider a win bet (for a smaller amount than on King Fury) on Night Ops at 7 to 2 or more.

Saturday’s 8th race from Santa Anita Park is the Grade 3, $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes for three-year-old fillies traveling one mile on the turf course (Post Time 7:08 p.m. EDT).

#8 ZERO TOLERANCE (3-1) fired in all three sprints and overcame trouble to capture the Unzip Me Stakes Oct. 3. Peter Miller’s up-and-coming filly has route influences in her pedigree and Flavien Prat is 2-for-2 with her.

#5 Ego Trip (5-1) hit the board in all three outings including a show finish in the Lake Placid (G2). Technical Analysis beat her last time and that one would be heavily favored against this modest group. This might be her preferred trip and the maiden probably fits with these.

#6 Madone (7-2) cuts back to her winning trip. She is actually 5-for-5 on firm turf at one mile and she should be rolling late under her winning rider Juan Hernandez.

#3 Burgoo Alley (4-1) stretches back out after an even 3rd in the Unzip Me. She fired in a couple of flat mile optional claiming turf events at Del Mar and her winning pilot Umberto Rispoli strings along.

#7 Spanish Loveaffair (7-2) exits a sharp win as a 30-1 longshot in the Pebbles Stakes at Belmont Park and that was her third victory at one mile on turf. She figures to chase the pace under Abel Cedillo.

Key Races & Bets for Saturday October 30, 2021

Race 6 at Keeneland – Post Time 3:40 PM

Mr. Jagermeister, Derby Date and Pyron are the main contenders to win this race.
Mr. Jagermeister has a very strong career record of 12 wins in 31 dirt races and earnings of over $650K. Yet he opens at 12/1 because he’s been running in Minnesota and Iowa recently. He also gets a low percentage jockey but I’m going to ignore that because the horse is drawn very well with an outside post and has the tactical speed to be first or second early the way he likes it. Mr. Jagermeister has put in two strong half-mile works since his last race on 9/8 and is holding his form so must be given top billing as he opens at much higher odds than the other two listed contenders.
Derby Date is coupled with Bon Raison as both are owned by Calumet farm but I am not interested in the other so if Derby Date scratches I will not bet the entry. Derby Date ran poorly in a stakes race last month at Churchill and it was such a bad effort I think it can be ignored. He won two in a row prior to that and Rosario taking the call suggests he will run back to one of those two efforts.
Pyron returned from nine months off four weeks ago and ran second in a fine effort to a stakes winner. He can improve second off the layoff and won a little over a year ago at the one lower allowance condition with a 110 Equibase figure which is tops in the field (Derby Date’s best is 101 and Mr. Jagermeister’s best is 102). Mena rode him for the first time in his most recent start and considering the horse has been first or second in nearly half his 14 races he is a must to use on any exacta tickets we play at the very least.

Bowman Mill Stakes – Race 7 at Keeneland – Post Time 4:12 PM Eastern

Chattalot and My Prankster are the main win contenders in this race.
Chattalot is undefeated in two starts, the first in his debut in July at Saratoga in a huge effort after battling head-and-head for the entire length of the stretch, then after two and one-half months off four weeks ago. In that first level allowance race at Churchill Downs, Chattalot relaxed in third in the early stages, had traffic issues in the stretch, the got up to win. The progression to a 100 Equibase figure, tops in the field, already makes him the one to beat and with logical improvement second off the layoff he should win this stakes race for three year olds in his third career start.
My Prankster won at Saratoga in his debut similar to Chattalot’s win in his debut one week earlier. In that win My Prankster showed a lot of maturity to rally after relaxing in third early. He then ran in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes and although well regarded by bettors at 7 to 2 odds he could only manage fourth. This race is a much better fit and the 95 figure from his debut bears improving so he’s the other main contender to win.

Camp Hope, Yes This Time and Point Me By are the main win contenders.
Camp Hope comes back for the second time at the Keeneland meeting and there is every reason to have faith trainer Ken McPeek knows the colt is the type to be able to do it as many horses have done over the years successfully. He won on 10/8 at a mile and one-eighth on grass powerfully by five lengths after opening up by six with an eighth of a mile to go and was TOTALLY WRAPPED up by his jockey Hernandez (who rides back) at the end. That was his second “A” race in a row as he missed by a neck after leading late in a very tough race at Kentucky Downs on the turf at a mile and five sixteenths. Not only is the cut back to a mile going to hit him right between the eyes, his last two Equibase Speed Figures of 102 and 103 are the best in the field, with only Point Me By and Yes This Time having broken the 100 threshold recently. He won that last race leading all the way but before that he rallied from fourth and about six lengths back early so no matter the pace scenario Camp Hope should be very tough in this situation. Additionally, those two races came against three year olds and upward and he’s facing only three year olds today.
Yes This Time finished second in a career-best effort in the Dueling Grounds Derby last time out. Gaffalione was up for the first time and rides back and the 104 figure is as strong as the 103 Camp Hope earned last out. Like Camp Hope, Yes This Time cuts back in distance, from 1 5/16 miles to this one mile trip, which helps sharpen his late kick and gives him a strong shot to earn his seventh career win in his 11th career start.
Point Me By offers value for the exacta, and for a win bet, not offered by the other two, as he opens at 10/1. He won a turf sprint in his debut in June then in spite of finishing fourth ran huge second time out as he was ninth with an eighth of a mile to go and was fourth and beaten just a length at the end. At a mile in his next start, on 8/14, Point Me By won the Grade 1 Bruce D Stakes (formerly the Secretariat) for three year olds only which is identical to this race. Then he shortened up to six and one-half furlongs for the very tough Franklin Simpson Stakes and had no kick. He will appreciate the stretch out to a mile and rounds out the top contenders here as his Bruce D effort earned a 103 figure.
