These two teams have struggled to start the season, while Seattle has struggled all the way through its existence (all 6 games). As of now Montreal has the advantage in the net, which is always the key part to a winning team, Allen has allowed 2.65 GAA on a .905 SV%, Grubauer on the other hand has not held up to the Vezina nominee that he was last year, he is allowing 3.80 GAA and sitting at a .869 SV%. The Canadiens, like many other teams, have battled an up-and-down offensive start this season, but history shows when Montreal is hot offensively, the flood gates open and it’s hard to stop, and the 6-1 win on Saturday may be the start that they need. Jonathan Druoin has been one of the few names on this team to put up some decent offensive numbers, but if he and Josh Anderson keep up the tempo, especially early, these are two names that could make a major impact in Tuesday’s game. That win against Detroit stopped a 4 game skid and they put more shots in the back of the net in that game than they had all season prior, which led them to a big win after going down 1-0 early and coming back to put 6 in unanswered, and Jonathan and Josh could be two big names to potentially add to what is now a 1 game win streak. Montreal is a physical team, they are sitting at #12 in hits/60 minutes, and the defense has actually limited opponents to 29 shots per game (good for #8 in the NHL). That game may have been the perfect game to start a streak for Montreal, but that may take more than just a couple of games for the Kraken, as they are playing their inaugural season and haven’t yet formed the experience, bond, and connection within their locker room that a team like Montreal has established. Seattle only has a single player on the team sitting above 0 in the +/- category, while sitting near the bottom in penalty minutes (#32 ; 19 minutes/game), face-off win percentage (#31 ; 44.9%), GAA (#28 ; 3.83 goals/game) and shots/game, which won’t help against a goalie who is stoping right around 91% of shots, making it even harder to score if you can’t put enough shots on goal.
