This is a Free Play for Tuesday on the ANAHEIM DUCKS. Anaheim snapped a six-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over Montreal on Sunday. The Ducks had some tough luck losses during that stretch as two of those defeats came by one goal in regulation and another three came in either overtime or a shootout. They are 3-4-2-1 and they look to carry that momentum into Tuesday in search of their first winning streak of the season. Anaheim is ranked No. 8 in the league with the man advantage at 25.8 percent and eight power play goals in 10 games, including two on Sunday and this goes right into the weakness of New Jersey. This is just the second road game of the season for the Devils with their first resulting in a 4-2 win at Pittsburgh. That was just the second time in seven games that New Jersey did not allow a power play goal and that has been an issue early on this season. New Jersey has struggled against the power play as its 72 percent penalty kill rate is tied for fifth worst in the NHL. If the Devils make mistakes or take too many unnecessary penalties, they run the risk of allowing the Ducks to be opportunistic on special teams which has been the one important strength. The Devils have traded wins and losses through their past six games, and with the team coming off a 4-3 shootout defeat to Columbus last time out I like New Jersey to snap back with a win once again. The Ducks just managed to end a six-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over Montreal on Sunday, but I don't think they can string together two in a row.
Ducks are 15-40 in their last 55 games as an underdog. Ducks are 5-23 in their last 28 games as a home underdog.

The New Orleans Pelicans are just 1-6 this season. But that record has them catching more points than they should be on a nightly basis. That has been evident with the Pelicans going 4-1 ATS in their last five games not once losing by more than 7 points. And I think they'll be able to hang with a Suns team that has not played well this season, going 1-4 ATS. The Suns are 0-3 ATS at home with upset losses to the Nuggets and Kings as well as a 9-point win over the Cavaliers as 10-point favorites. They shouldn't be a double-digit favorite against New Orleans, either. Give me the Pelicans.

Taking the Sabres for a Free Pick here...
This is a pure value bet for me, meaning I think this is a coin flip game so there's value on the underdog at this price. Buffalo has been pretty lucky in some of their wins this season, including consecutively in wins against the Lightning and Ducks. I then faded them against the Kings when they lost despite having the rest advantage.
The Sharks are an interesting team. They just won against the Jets with a bunch of players out for COVID protocol, but I'm very low on the Jets so that doesn't make me increase this SJ stock too much. They started the year playing well but have since gotten more boring/less dangerous.
The Sabres have a 5.5% advantage in expected goals at 5 on 5, but a 5.5% disadvantage in high danger scoring chances at 5 on 5 (wow, lots of 5s). However, those high danger chances for SJ were concentrated in earlier games so I don't weigh them as heavily.
To recap, Buffalo has the slightly better stats, but are on the road and are underdogs so they're worth a play at this price.
