Western Kentucky is 1st in the nation in offensive success. They are throwing it 67% of the time. Marshall’s pass D looks good on paper. 11th in opponent QBR and 34th in pass play success rate allowed. Who have they played that can throw it around? No one. App State likely the best passing attack they have faced. Brice has been good for them, but Chase Brice is no Bailey Zappe that’s for sure.
Western Kentucky’s defense has become a ball hawking unit. Forced 19 fumbles this year (have recovered only 7 of them). Have 18 interceptions. Second most in the country- first? Iowa of course! The Hilltoppers have forced 22 turnovers in their last 7 games. Fantastic stuff.
What about Marshall quarterback Grant Wells? He can be a turnover machine at times. 12 INT’s on the season. Marshall has fumbled the ball 17 times this year (have lost only 8).

This looks like the oddsmakers are setting you up for a trap bet on the Tigers. Bama isn’t being talked about as the dominating team that they’ve been in the past but consider this: Last year the Tide went 13-0, scored 48.5PPG and allowed 19.4PPG and won by an average of 29.1PPG. This year the Tide are scoring 44PPG, giving up 20.3PPG, with a +/- of +24.6PPG. So statistically they are just as good as last year. Auburn is on a 3 game skid with a 17-point loss at Texas A&M, 9-point loss home against Mississippi State and a 4-point loss last week at S Carolina. The Tide have a huge advantage in the passing game as they throw for 344PYPG which is 8th best in college football. Auburn is 79th against the pass allowing 236PYPG. Auburn wants to run the football here, but Bama allows just 84RYPG which is 5th best in the nation. The Tigers backup QB’s have completed just 56% of their passes since Bo Nix went out. Auburn has already lost by 9-points at home to Miss State and 14 to Georgia. We will lay the points with Bama

Illinois has been very impressive down the stretch. They beat Penn State 20-18 as 24.5-point dogs and outgained them by 168 yards. They predictably had a letdown in a 14-20 home loss to Rutgers the next week. But they then went and upset Minnesota 14-6 as 14.5-point road dogs. And last week they outgained Iowa by 57 yards in a 23-33 road loss as 12-point dogs. Northwestern is 0-5 SU & 1-4 ATS in its last five games overall. They were outgained by 171 yards in their 14-32 loss to Purdue, by 258 yards in their 7-35 loss to Wisconsin, by 200 yards in their 14-41 loss to Minnesota and by 224 yards in their 7-33 loss to Michigan. They haven't even been competitive in these games. Give me Illinois.

It's not often we see the Red Wings priced in this manner but it's warranted in this case. The Sabres are coming off a lopsided win over the reeling Canadiens last night but that was only their third victory in their last 13 games. They dropped a 4-3 decision on home ice against the Red Wings earlier this season and here we'll note that they're just 5-26 when playing on the road seeking revenge for a same-season loss against an opponent over the last 2+ seasons, outscored by an average margin of 1.4 goals in that situation. The Red Wings are 6-4 on home ice this season, outscoring opponents by an average margin of 0.6 goals. Earlier this week we saw them snap a four-game losing streak (all four losses came on the road) at home against the Blues. Note that Detroit has gone 13-9 the last 22 times it has played at home after losing four of its last five contests, as is the case here. Take Detroit.

Saturday's Free NCAAF Pick is on the South Carolina Gamecocks as a 12.5-point home dog against the Clemson Tigers. I just think this is too many points for South Carolina to be catching in this spot. I know this is a rivalry game, but Clemson has won 6 straight over the Gamecocks with the last 4 victories all coming by at least 21 points.
How much can the Tigers really care about this game? Not only because of how the series has gone, but coming off that huge win over Wake Forest that at the time kept alive their hopes of winning the ACC Coastal. Those hopes were dashed in NC State's thrilling win over FSU last night. What is there to really play for in what's been a really disappointing season?
One thing I am sure of, South Carolina is going to show up like this is their Super Bowl. I not only think they will cover, but I give them a legit shot to win outright. Bet the Gamecocks +12.5!
