Chicago and Detroit OVER 41.5 While the Lions have played back-to-back low scoring games, those have been in rainy conditions with compromised or backup quarterbacks. That will not be the case here and we expect Detroit to be more aggressive which will force Chicago to do some of the same.
Detroit is the home underdog in this game despite facing a 3-7 Chicago team. The Lions are 10-0 OU since 2007 as a home dog against a team below .500 on the season.
Chicago was just a home underdog against Tyler Huntley and the Ravens last week. The Bears are 8-0-1 OU (7.06 ppg) since Sep 27, 2009 as a road favorite coming off a game as a dog.
Chicago had not been a road favorite often the past couple years but have been aggressive when they have been. The Bears are 4-0 OU (6.00 ppg) since 2019 as a road favorite.
Detroit is coming off a low scoring 13-10 loss to Cleveland on Sunday in a game where the total was 42.5. The Lions are 12-0 OU since December 24, 2006 as a dog off a game as a dog where the total was under 51 that went under the total by at least 14 points.
Detroits defense actually stepped up as underdogs in that game. The Lions are 9-0 OU (7.72 ppg) since Oct 31, 2004 as a dog off a game as a dog where they allowed less than 14 points.
Detroits offense however could not hold up its end of the bargain. The Lions are 13-0 OU since Nov 22, 2009 off a game as a road dog of more than three points where they scored less than 14 points.
Detroit had just 245 yards of total offense in that game. The Lions are 9-0-1 OU (12.17 ppg) since Dec 20, 2009 as a home dog coming off a game where they had less than 288 total yards.
But the rushing game was quite strong, gaining 168 yards. Home dogs which lost last game despite rushing for at least 150 yards are 94-54 OU.
Detroit however picked up just 77 passing yards in that game. The Lions are 7-0-1 OU (6.91 ppg) since Oct 19, 2014 at home coming off a game with less than 180 passing yards.
It has now been three straight games since Detroit had thrown for a touchdown, making this offense due. Teams that have gone at least three straight games with no passing touchdowns are 81-49 OU.
