Even though we have not seen him since March, his Oaklawn record makes him a "horse-for-the-course," in my estimation. Local track experience counts, and if he can run to his ability, at 12/1, then he will be a bet. The best news of all is that Florent Geroux gets the call, and he continues to ride as well as ever …

Oaklawn Park has not had the chance to host 2-yr-old races since their Meet has normally run January through April. Times are a’changing … In this MSW extravaganza, I think Three Diamonds Farm holds the ace. Seal Beach #6 was awfully good back (2nd) at Churchill in a similar type of race. If this colt for Mike Maker can put a race together like that one again, then this son of Midshipman might find himself in the winner’s circle along with jockey Ramon Vasquez. Add Lasix … and you are looking at a major plus … I like this Maker runner, but my top selection is Brad Cox’s Rewire #8. I am hoping that this gelding by Mohaymen is a much better price, and I want to give him another shot, despite a poor showing as the favorite last time out at Churchill back on Halloween. Maybe the ghosts and goblins kept him away from the wire … With Florent Geroux back again, I am hoping that will right the ship. Another runner that deserves to be included on any ticket is Steve Asmussen’s Oiler #2. At 4/1, those odds are probably pretty square. He has some early speed, and that should put him in the mix when the bell goes off. The jockeying ability of David Cabrera is sound, but he has not hit-the-board just yet. Give him time … Those 3 should make for a boxed wager …

#7 Brazillionaire takes a major drop down in class today, while also running second off the layoff, which should lead to a bounce back effort. #9 Tackle will drop back down in class for this one, which makes sense after a poor showing last time out facing tougher horses.

Race 10: New York Stallion Series Stakes

#6 Rinaldi moves to the turf for this race and also cuts back in distance. If he takes to the dirt he will have a say in things. #4 My Boy Tate a consistent runner at this level in New York. He has won two straight coming into this race.
