You probably won't find a more deceptive 8-4 team than Greensboro who is 1-3 vs. Top 150 teams with their best win 54-51 over Vermont. The Spartans turn the ball over just a tick under 25% and haven't played in 20 days. Furman is 9-6 playing a moderately tougher schedule with best win over Louisville. The Paladins have a veteran outfit that is 25th in the country shooting the three and and don't go very deep off the bench. Furman is the better team and takes this early key SoCon matchup.

The 12th-ranked Cougars give up the seventh-fewest points in the country. They are off a 66-61 victory against Temple this past Sunday and host Wichita State in an early morning Saturday game.
But first there is this game, which I see as a rest stop for Houston. South Florida is an average team, but should be able to hang within this point spread number at home considering the situation.
The Bulls should have lots of energy. They've had ample time to prepare, too, having last played on Christmas Day. The 5-7 Bulls have had their last two games called off by their opponents due to COVID.
South Florida is dominated by transfers. So the extra practice time should come in handy for the Bulls, who have received good play from Javon Greene, a graduate transfer from George Mason, and Caleb Murphy.
The Cougars recently lost their two top scorers with Marcus Sasser out for the season with foot surgery and Kyler Edwards dealing with a sprained ankle. Key reserve Tramon Mark also was lost for the season due to shoulder surgery. So adjustments have to be made.
Houston failed to cover as 12 1/2-point favorites against the Owls despite making 16 of 20 free throws. That was unusual because the Cougars are one of the worst free throw shooting teams in the nation ranking 312th making 65.6 percent.
Given Houston's injuries, poor free throw shooting and South Florida's ample rest time, I believe the Bulls will cover this large spread.

This is a free play on BGSU.
The Bowling Green Falcons are a far cry from the best team in the MAC, but they have had some recent success against Buffalo. The Falcons have won three of the last four head to head meetings outright, and they lost by a score of 88-84 in the one loss during that span. They appear to be catching the Bulls at a good time. Buffalo has lost three straight, and senior forward Josh Mballa is sidelined indefinitely. The 6"7 220 lb forward pulled in 17 rebounds in 36 minutes against Miami-Oh, and he leads the team in rebounds this season. The underdog has covered in five of the last seven in this series. I'll take the points.

Wednesday's Free NBA Pick is on the Orlando Magic as a 9.5-point home dog against the Philadelphia 76ers. This is just a few too many for Philly to be laying in this spot. I know the 76ers just won and covered as 13-point home favorites against the Rockets, but that game was close for a good portion and this is a Philly team that has a history of playing down to their competition. Orlando is a bad team and tough to trust, but I liked the effort they played with in Monday's 98-102 road loss to the Bulls as a 14-point dog. They should be able to at least keep this to single digits. Bet the Magic +9.5!
