This is a play on the GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS for our Saturday Free Play. Notre Dame is coming off a big win over North Carolina on Wednesday to make it four straight wins for the Irish as they improved to 2-1 in the ACC. Notre Dame now hits the road where it has struggled, going 1-2 with the two losses coming by blowouts against Boston College and Illinois and the lone win being a one-point win at Pittsburgh. Overall, the Irish are 6-0 at home but just 2-5 on the highway, getting outscored by close to nine ppg. The defense has been solid overall but on the road, Notre Dame is allowing opponents to shoot 49.1 percent from the floor including 40.7 percent from long range. Georgia Tech is coming off a loss at Duke but it played well, losing by 12 points as the Blue Devils took advantage of a home court edge by outscoring the Yellow Jackets 26-9 from the free throw line. Georgia Tech has lost two straight games and six of its last seven but those losses have come against teams a combined 70-12 so it has been a brutal stretch. I have no choice but to take the unranked Sooners as a 5.5-point home favorite against the No. 11 ranked Iowa State Cyclones. The fact that the books made Oklahoma this big of a home favorite, tells me they don't want to take a lot of action on the Sooners and are trying to persuade the public that there's value with Iowa State.
The Cyclones are a much improved team, maybe the most in the country, but they are far from being a serious contender. ISU really plays hard defensively, but they just don't have enough fire-power offensively. They went over 7 minutes without scoring in the 2nd half against Texas Tech at home.
That was also a Red Raiders team that was down to 5 scholarship players and missing arguably their two best players. I don't know how you can go into this game expecting much of anything from that ISU offense. Oklahoma has a good defense and is one of the tougher places to play in the country (23rd ranked home court edge at KenPom). Give me Oklahoma -5.5!

The Bruins get the most from the least and excellent defense and goaltending. The Bruins have scored just 87 goals but only two other NHL teams have given up less than Boston's 79. The Bruins are basically just .500 in their L10 games (5-3-2) and after Marchand, Bergeron, and Pastrnak, nobody on Boston can find the back of the net. Not good against the Lightning that's 6-3-1 L10 and 12-3-3 at home. Tampa Bay has scored 33 goals more than Boston in just two more games and the Bruins just don't have the fire power to keep up, especially on enemy ice.

The Leafs face the Avs on the road as a considerable underdog tonight. Both teams have solid offenses; the Avs are the top in the league with Toronto not far behind. The Leafs have the better defense and very good goaltending. The Avs are an excellent home team, but the Leafs are no slouches on the road, and have a very good record against Colorado. At these odds, I favor Toronto. Take the Leafs to steal this one.
