NASCAR at the Coliseum: - 2022 Busch Light Clash

    1) #19 Martin Truex Jr. (17-2) -- I get the impression from these odds that Caesars doesn't know the size of the track or that Truex is still driving the No. 19 for Joe Gibbs. Jump all over this number because he is the best active short-track driver with six wins since 2019. Find this number and bet it, and keep betting it again until it goes to 8-1. He should be the favorite here. Of course, bet in moderation according to your normal bankroll.

    2) #18 Kyle Busch (8-1) -- He leads all active drivers with a 10.5 average finish on short tracks and also has the most wins with 16 between Richmond, Bristol and Martinsville. He's also led 5,549 laps between them in his 97 short-track races, which also is the most. Great price on one of the best short-track drivers.

    3) #11 Denny Hamlin (13-2) -- He leads all active drivers not named Kyle Busch in short-track races with an 11.1 average finish, 10 wins, 40 top-fives and 4,989 laps led in 93 starts. He led 379 laps between the two races at Martinsville's flat layout, which might be the best track to compare to the Coliseum despite being half the size.

    4) #5 Kyle Larson (5-1) -- The defending Cup Series champion has two short-track wins, the most recent coming at Bristol last season. Getting through tight traffic might be an annoyance he doesn't like much, but once he gets in front, he'll be tough to catch. The thing I like about Larson is that he's always learning to get better at certain tracks and then dominates them. The cookie cutters were first, then it was the road courses. Now, his objective is to master the short tracks.

    5) #22 Joey Logano (11-1) -- He's third among active drivers with a 12.1 average finish on other short tracks. He has five wins on them and has led 2,292 laps. He's the guy at Penske now without Brad Keselowski around. Remember, they've been on a rocky road that began long before Logano wrecked them both in the 2021 Daytona 500. His only win last season came on the dirt at Bristol. New car, Penske money, Penske engineering. They will be winning races with the new car.

    6) #9 Chase Elliott (7-1) -- His two short-track wins came at Richmond and Martinsville in 2020, and he led the most laps (289) last fall at Martinsville after finishing as runner-up there in the spring. He's the face of NASCAR right now, and his winning would fit the story I think the organization is trying to portray to its new fans across America.

    7) #20 Christopher Bell (20-1) -- This is a bet you only make because of the price and because he drives for Joe Gibbs Racing, one of the teams I expect to be at the front of education on making the new car go faster. He was fourth in the spring race at Richmond last year and came back in the fall to finish third. He won the Busch Clash last season on the Daytona Road Course.

    8) #88 Alex Bowman (20-1) -- He's a rising short-track driver with a win last season at Richmond and another at Martinsville in the fall. He also was fifth at Bristol. He's got the Hendrick horsepower and set-up, which always is the best when NASCAR unveils a new car.

    9) #24 William Byron (15-1) -- Of the five races on non-dirt short tracks last season, he was seventh or better in four of them. He's maturing and getting smarter with each race. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he won the Cup Series Championship this season. He's got Hendrick horsepower, which would be the main reason to bet him to win.

    10) #12 Ryan Blaney (10-1) -- Extremely underrated as a short-track driver because he's never won on one, but he sure does lead lots of laps. He just may find his way to the front and stay there in this short format with 150 laps. He led 157 laps last season at Martinsville before finishing 11th. In 2019, he led 158 laps and settled for fourth. The short format is right up his alley. He's got Team Penske behind him.
