3-Unit Play. Take #894 Colorado State (-6) over Fresno State (9:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11)
The Rams are getting back on track. They followed back-to-back losses with back-to-back wins, including an easy 10-point win at Nevada last time out. Now they are back home and facing an overachieving Fresno State squad. These two teams are jostling for position in the Mountain West hierarchy, but I don't think there is any doubt who the actual better team is. Fresno has been beating up on the dregs of the conference. But they are just 3-3 SU in their last six games, with two of the losses coming at home, and their only win over a Top 100 team since Thanksgiving was a home win over Utah State. The home team is an absurd 15-3 ATS in the last 18 meetings between these two. Take the Rams.

Take Denver/Boston GAME TOTAL UNDER as my top NBA pick for Friday night. This pick falls into one my top NBA systems and I expect a low-scoring game here given the way these 2 teams match up against each other. Denver has averaged 107.8 points per game on the road this season and I also expect them to step up defensively here tonight. Boston has been one of the best defensive teams in the country over the last few weeks and they have allowed just 93.2 points per game over their last 5 games with opponents shooting just 37.6% against them. Boston just held Brooklyn to 91 points, Orlando to 83 points, Detroit to 93 points, Charlotte to 107 points, Miami to 92 points and New Orleans to 97 points over their last 6 games. You can also expect Boston to step up defensively once again at home here tonight where they have allowed 103 points per game this season with opponents shooting 43.4% against them. Play the UNDER and make sure you get on my top college basketball play that goes Friday night as my $11,820 all sports run continues.

7 Unit Play Take #883 Detroit Mercy +1.5 over Youngstown State (7:00pm est):

I think this Detroit Mercy team is underrated. They are one of the most experienced teams in the country with 5 of their 6 top players being seniors. The Titans have played one of the harder schedules in the Horizon League this season as only 2 of their first 11 conference games have been played at home. Despite this they are still a solid 7-4 overall in Horizon league play and those 7 wins were by an average of 15 points per game while 2 of their 4 losses were by just 2 points. The Titans went 2-0 last year against this Youngstown State team and the road team in this series has covered the spread 13 of the last 16 times they have faced each other.

Take Detroit Mercy in this one. Big Super Bowl package is up. I have 10 plays up for the big game and like my card quite a bit.

5-Unit Play: Take 878 Xavier -1 over UConn (7 p.m., Friday, February 11)

Xavier has suffered some close losses of late but I expect a win tonight. The Musketeers will face a UConn team that can't make the 2-pointer and can't defend the 3-pointer. I expect the Huskies to struggle against Xavier's athletes who defend the 2 and 3 quite well. And while UConn is 16-6 overall, they're just 3-3 SU on the road. Xavier will be the fourth top-40 power rated team UConn has faced in a true road environment. The other three were Villanova, Seton Hall, and Marquette. Those teams made 58% of their 2-pointers and 41% of their treys against the Huskies. I expect similar numbers by the Musketeers. I'm backing Xavier on Friday night. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

It has been a very disappointing season for St. Bonnies this year, as more was expected than 13-7 at this point of the year with a veteran cast. The Bonnies have only covered three of their past 15 games and two of those were against well below .500 A-10 foes Fordham and Duquesne. St. Louis on the other hand is in 2nd place in the A-10 and is on a 6-0 spurt (5-1 ATS) and is 8-1 ATS after allowing 30 points or less in the first half in two straight games.
A split last night has me on runs of 7-1 and 17-8, 68% of late. Consider a weekly package and save 53% over buying daily.

This is a high total, but these teams are putting up points at an incredible rate recently. Minnesota has gone over the total in 14 of the last 17 games overall, on top of going 22-7 OU on the road this season. Chicago isn't far behind that pace, they are 13-4-1 OU in the last 18 games overall and going over the total in 62% of their home games. In just the previous 5 games, Minnesota is averaging almost 126 points on average vs. 116 PPG allowed to the opposition, while Chicago is putting up 119 PPG (shooting almost 51%) vs. 119 PPG allowed as well (on over 48% shooting). Minnesota is also 20-7 OU against teams over .500 and 16-1 OU (13-0 OU under HC Finch) in the last 2 years after allowing 130 or more points in the previous game. While Chicago has gone over the total in every home game they have played this season with a total over 220 (11-0 OU)!!

7 p.m. ET: Kent State at Akron

Both of these MAC foes are riding win streaks. Kent State (14-9 SU, 10-10-1 ATS) has won five straight games and just beat Bowling Green 76-68, covering as 6.5-point home favorites. Similarly, Akron (16-6 SU, 10-10 ATS) has won three straight and just took down Northern Illinois 70-64, although they failed to cover as 8-point road favorites. This line opened with Akron listed as a short 3-point home favorite. Respected money has laid the points with the home team, driving the line up from Akron -3 to -3.5. Akron holds the edge in shooting (46% vs 44%). Akron is 10-1 at home this season. Kent State is 4-4 on the road. Ken Pom has Akron winning by five points (65-60). This is a revenge spot for Akron, who lost to Kent State 67-55 back on January 14th. We've also seen some over money show up, raising the total from 128 to 129.

7 p.m. ET: Detroit at Youngstown State

These Horizon League rivals are playing well as of late. Detroit (10-11 SU, 13-7 ATS) has won two straight and is now 5-1 over their last six games. Detroit just rolled Robert Morris 79-62, easily covering as 2.5-point road favorites. Meanwhile, Youngstown State (15-10 SU, 12-1 ATS) has won five straight and just upset Oakland 78-71, winning outright as 4-point home dogs. This line opened with Youngstown State listed as a 1-point home favorite. We've seen this tick up from 1 to 1.5, signaling respected money laying the short chalk on the home team. Youngstown holds the edge in shooting (45% vs 44%) and rebounding (36 RPG vs 33 RPG). Youngstown is 9-5 at home this season. Detroit is 5-11 on the road. Ken Pom has Youngstown winning by one point (71-70).

9:30 p.m. ET: Fresno State at Colorado State

This late night showdown features two of the Mountain West's finest facing off. Fresno State (16-7 SU, 14-7-1 ATS) is coming off a 62-59 loss to Wyoming, losing outright as 4.5-point home favorites. On the flip side, Colorado State (18-3 SU, 10-10 ATS) has won two straight and just brushed aside Nevada 82-72, covering as 5.5-point road favorites. This line opened with Colorado State listed as a 6-point home favorite. The public has no problem laying the points with the Rams at home due to their superior win-loss record. However, despite this lopsided betting we've seen the line dip from 6 to 5.5, indicating sharp action grabbing road dog Fresno State plus the points. Fresno State will lean on their defensive advantage (allowing 58 PPG vs 67 PPG). Ken Pom has Colorado State winning by three points (66-63), which provides actionable value with Fresno at the current number. He actually has Fresno as the higher ranked team (46th vs 49th).
