Fair Grounds Race Course Selections for February 14, 2022 – Horse Racing Picks

Fair Grounds Race Course Selections for February 14, 2022 – Horse Racing Picks

The Super Bowl might be in the books and football season is officially done, but that doesn’t mean gambling season is over. It’s a good time to take a break if you need it, but there are still plenty of options post-Super Bowl. In fact, March Madness is a close second to my favorite time of the year for sports betting.

    Industry Leading 9% Cashback!

The BetOnline racebook has at least four racecourses for wagering on Monday. Turf Paradise, Parx Racing, Louisiana Downs, and Fair Grounds Race Course have racing the day after the Super Bowl, which is a day to recover from a hangover for most people.

Next weekend the $400,000 Risen Star Stakes (Gr. 2) is scheduled at Fair Grounds in New Orleans. That is a 50-20-10-5 Road to the Kentucky Derby prep race, the first with that many points towards the Kentucky Derby in May. A win sets up a very probable appearance in the dance at Churchill Downs.

Our first look on Monday is at Fair Grounds. The New Orleans racetrack has $263,000 in prize money available. Head below for our best Fair Grounds Race Course picks on February 14, 2022.

Race 5 covers a mile and 70 yards for an $18,000 purse. Tizabigmick and Mosh Pit should be in the mix in the stretch. Run.

Tizabigmick could be a good value bet in this spot for an $18,000 prize. The No. 1 has finished 4th, 5th, 8th, 4th, 4th in five races.

In his most recent outing, Tizabigmick finished 4th on January 21 for a $23,000 purse. This was after finishing 4th on December 27 in an $18,000 assignment.

Mosh Pit opened on January 17 and didn’t go that well. He finished 7th in a $46,000 event and needed something easier.

Following that one, Mosh Pit has looked in great form in workouts. Mosh Pit was most recently clocked at 1:00.40 at 5 furlongs.

If Mosh Pit runs in that form here, expect a big performance with a good chance of a win.

    Post Time: 3:35 p.m. CST
    Distance: 1 1/16 Miles
    Purse:$23,000

Race 6 covers 1 1/16 miles for a $23,000 purse on the turf. Clara Belle and Honey Run are expected to be competitive in these conditions.

Clara Belle is winless in four career starts, finishing 3rd, 5th, 2nd, 8th in four appearances. In his best finish on December 5, Clara Belle placed 2nd behind Mission Belle by 4 lengths for an $18,000 purse.

The filly was 8th in a $25,000 assignment on January 14. I didn’t like that performance. Honey Run probably has this one if Clara Belle is in the same form.

Honey Run is winless in seven races, going 2nd, 3rd, 7th in her previous three outings. She placed 2nd behind Constitution Lady by ¾ lengths in a $58,000 event and then dropped back.

Honey Run finished 7th for a $46,000 purse on January 15 and sees a markedly easier race in this one. Well down in class to $23,000, expect Honey Run to be the biggest contender.

    (10) Warrior in Chief
    +450 (9/2)

    Post Time: 4:36 p.m. CST
    Distance:1 1/16 Miles
    Purse:$49,000

Race 8 covers 1 1/16 miles on the turf in a $49,000 assignment. Give Warrior in Chief and TD Dance some respect in this race. Warrior in Chief is 5 for 17 in his career with a good chance in Race 8.

The colt has finished 4th, 7th, 1st in his last three attempts. In his last appearance, Warrior in Chief beat Blue Jays by 1 length for a $54,000 purse.

This was after a loss on December 26 in 7th in the $100,000 Tenacious Stakes. The class drop helped put Warrior in Chief back on the right track.

T D Dance has to be worth considering at this price. He is 3 for 6 and has finished 1st, 1st, 2nd in his previous three races.

T D Dance was a winner two outings back in the $100,000 James W. Murphy Stakes. That was an impressive attempt, with T D Dance going in for a 3 ¾ length win.

He couldn’t follow up, but he had another good performance in the $150,000 Mystic Lake Derby on January 23. T D Dance placed 2nd behind King of Miami by a head.

For the best value, T D Dance looks like the play at Fair Grounds.

Today's Horse Racing Tips: Monday February 14th
        Stephen Harris bettingexpert Racing editor

        Today’s Racing Tips – February 14th

There are 3 meetings in the UK on Monday, with jumps action from Catterick and Plumpton in the afternoon. All-weather
fans can get stuck into the twilight card at Wolverhampton, with the lights coming on at 5pm.
SELECTION Track Time (UK) Horse ODDS
DAILY NAP Plumpton 1:45 PM Mark of Gold 1.36
VALUE ANGLE Plumpton 2:20PM Chloes Court 7.50

Best odds available as at 2am February 14th 2021. Odds may now differ.
        Today’s Daily Nap

        Mark of Gold

        Plumpton 1:45 pm

Gary Moore’s freegoing sort proved well suited by this sharp course and distance when getting off the mark at the third attempt over hurdles last month, and has been found a terrific opening to defy a penalty back at Plumpton on Monday.
        Today’s Value Angle

        Chloes Court

        Plumpton 2:20 pm

Robert Walford’s mare is better known as a reliable staying chaser, but she ran really well back over hurdles last time out when finishing second at Exeter to one well ahead of the game. She remains on the same handicap mark here, and will not mind at all if the forecast rain eases the ground.

Al Cimaglia: Pompano Park Late Pick 4 Analysis

            February 14, 2022 | By Al Cimaglia

The big Monday night card at Pompano Park has 13 races. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 10. The sequence has a 12% takeout with a $15,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

            Race 10

6-Warrawee Victor (3-1)-Comes off even efforts versus $8k claimers. Drops, should relish the company, and could capture its 1st Pompano win (0-9).
7-Creighton Hanover (2-1)-Beat this kind from post 6 on 1-31 with Miller in the bike. May look to leave to get the top like in last and not look back.

            Race 11

1-Hot Art (6-1)-This veteran drops and from this post should be dialed on high. Best to respect and could be overlooked at the windows.
2-Island Beach Boy (5/2)-Has just missed in the last 2 at this class and now draws inside. This was Hennessey's pick over the 3 and 6.
4-Dakota Jack (5-1)-This 9-year-old does good work racing near the top of the stack and Miller should be able to work that type of trip.
8-Sgt Paddy Daddy (5-1)-Should offer a nice price and has the gate speed to get a good early seat. Drops into a more comfortable spot and knows his way to the PPk winner's circle.

            Race 12

4-Loyal Fox Hanover (2-1)-Drops and Hennessey gets the assignment, and he knows well. An aggressive steer could be coming, and this pilot will look to steal a quarter.
5-Joey Pro (5-1)-Bumps up after a nice win from the 8 hole. Boyd is back in the bike and if he works an efficient trip another picture isn't out of the question.
8-Credit List (12-1)-Will take a swing that this 7-year-old's Pomp debut is a winning one and should fit with this crew. Has shown good gate speed at Vernon and the qualifier here in the slop on 2-8 was a good one.

            Race 13

2-Peter Dalt (8-1)-Peter gets some needed class relief and has done good work versus this kind. Likes the Pomp hitting the board in 15 of 20 starts with 6 wins.
3-Another Daily Copy (5-1)-Will need its best to win at this class but gets a favorable post draw to race on or near the lead. Chindano should have in play from the word "go".
6-Agedchedar Hanover (9/2)-Beat the Open III company last week and shouldn't be out of place with this group. Should be in the hunt at a fair price with a sharp steer.

            0.50 Late Pick 4

            6,7/1,2,4,8/4,5,8/2,3,6
            Total Bet=$36

              Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

              Fair Grounds - Race #2
              Picks Notes
#4 Sharpenedup He couldn't hang with that tougher group last time out, but he drops back in at a level at which he has been competitive in the recent past. Would love to see him settle in behind a few that are a bit quicker than he is early.
#8 Tiz Light the Way He has proven a very good fit at the local level in recent starts, but he has split decisions with some of these and seems likely to go to post as the chalk. Very capable, but he doesn't have to win this.
#5 Bourbon Tan He's a little cheap compared to most of these, but he owns a couple of decent back turf routes that might be good enough to help him land a piece of this at a price.
Race Summary Sharpenedup and Tiz Light the Way have taken turns beating each other in recent tries, but the former should offer a bit better price today while getting down in class off that try with tougher.

              Fair Grounds - Race #6
              Picks Notes
#6 Dial Ten For G She showed a little bit of life when dropped into maiden claiming company for the first time last out, and she has some pedigree to suggest the move around two turns might work in her favor. She should be a decent price while getting a solid trip tracking the pace on the stretchout.
#7 Honey Run She has a claim on this while dropping back in with maiden claimers, as she was a good second at Churchill for a $50,000 price last fall. Still, a slight worry that she's dropping in for just the second time off a stopping effort.
#5 Zen She moved up nicely when sent two turns for the first time, and she should be in line for another decent trip spying the pace. Wouldn't be surprised to see her land this.
Race Summary This group combines for a pretty high 48 Betmix Longshot Score, suggesting there may be vulnerable chalks. Dial Ten For G meets a group that doesn't have many real standouts, so maybe the move to a turf route will be enough to give her a mid-range price chance.

              Fair Grounds - Race #7
              Picks Notes
#1 Short Summer Dress She'll have to hold form for the new team while stepping up, but that last one was solid when she controlled the tempo throughout, and she might have a go of things from the fence again with this group. Hoping the pressers will leave her alone long enough early.
#2 Australasia She comes back off the bench after losing for the first time when up the track in the Grade III Victory Ride, and she has not been seriously threatened in either of her two local starts. Her best makes her tough here.
#5 Sail on Ellen She might get the right kind of trip while prompting the pace without getting caught up in an early battle, but it feels like she's most likely to chase and hang around for a piece.
Race Summary Short Summer Dress looks capable in here despite breaking from the fence with speed, as the rest of the forward players have some mild rating ability that may leave them stacking up outside of that leader.

                Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

                Turf Paradise - Race #6
                Picks Notes
#3 Tapit At Midnight His best in his last three races was a third at this distance, and he couldn't keep up in sprints; he's bred to like the two turns and has the late energy to put himself into the game.
#7 Conquest Cobra Was an easy winner last time out and just keeps running well at the age of 10; big player again.
#10 Mo Gee Was along in plenty of time going 5.5 furlongs and should finish well with more distance.
Race Summary Tapit At Midnight has a steady move that will come in handy following a pace that should be lively.

                Turf Paradise - Race #7
                Picks Notes
#4 Crack a Cold One Was an even third in his last one at this level and is well spotted today; look for improvement.
#6 Tres Chiflados Comes out of tougher races and usually has a presence on the front end.
#10 Blank It Was an even fourth in a strong race and he was third three back at this level; fits.
Race Summary Crack a Cold One can get a good trip from just off the pace and has what it takes to get by.

                Turf Paradise - Race #0
                Picks Notes
#2 El Chavo Del Ocho Comes off a nose win in a stakes race at Sunland and returns to where he's been competitive but hasn't gotten the job done in four starts. His turn today.
#1 Stone Carver Ran well north of the border and has been in stakes in eight of his last 11; should be taken seriously.
#5 Leading Score Was a regular in non-graded stakes race in southern California and definitely has the class to be a factor.
Race Summary El Chavo Del Ocho dug in when challenged throughout his last one and has the tactical speed to adjust to whatever they throw at him.

Turf Paradise Selections for February 14, 2022 – Horse Racing Picks

Horse racing resumes on Monday with four racecourses at BetOnline. Fair Grounds Race Course, Louisana Downs, Parx, and Turf Paradise have Monday cards to open the week.

                  Industry Leading 9% Cashback!

It’s nice to see a track like Fair Grounds on the early card for the week. Upcoming next week is the biggest prep race on the Road to the Kentucky Derby.

The $400,000 Risen Star Stakes (Gr. 2) offers 50 points to the winner of the Risen at Fair Grounds Race Course. That is the first race with that many points available.

The winner and even second with 20 points are in a good spot for May. There’s nothing of the sort on Monday, but hopefully a good day of winners.

Yesterday was really good at Santa Anita Park, with Secret Touch winning at 5/1 after 5/2 on the morning line. That was a pleasant surprise to see Secret Touch close with a price of +500.

If you’re looking for Fair Grounds picks, check out our Fair Grounds Race Course page. Turf Paradise has $122,780 in prize money available. Head below for our best Turf Paradise picks for February 14, 2022.

                  Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
                  Purse:$11,480

Race 1 is a mile for an $11,200 purse on the dirt. Expect Track Bound and Handsome Account should provide a nice effort in this assignment.

Track Bound is a one-time winner through 14 events, and has finished 5th, 4th, 4th, 2nd in four races. He is coming off a solid attempt to place 2nd behind Litgator by ¾ lengths in a $11,480 assignment.

That was a fine performance, with Track Bound finishing 4th on January 5 in the same grade. If Track Bound continues to show good improvement, this shouldn’t be a problem.

Handsome Account is a one-time winner through ten attempts. He scored three races in on July 31. Since then, Handsome Account has been held out of the winner’s circle, but still consistent.

He most recently showed 3rd on February 2 for an $11,480 purse. This is the fifth time in his last six that Handsome Account has finished in the top-3.

For the best value, Handsome Account has to be considered at a generous price.

                  Distance: 5 ½ Furlongs
                  Purse:$11,480

Race 3 covers 5 ½ furlongs on the dirt for an $11,480 purse. Expect big work out of Sweet Honor and Abraa Jabraa.

Sweet Honor is 5 for 19 and should have a considerable chance down in class today. She has finished 7th, 3rd, 6th, 7th in her previous four outings.

After finishing 7th on February 2 in a $13,020 event, Sweet Honor is kicking on down to $11,480. There is going to be easier competition in this one, so we’ll see if the mare takes advantage.

Abraa Jabraa is 4 for 26 with a drop down in class today as well on the cards. She has finished 4th, 5th, 8th in her previous three outings.

In her most recent, Abraa Jabraa finished 8th on January 17 as a favorite. Despite the loss, her speed reading was competitive and is better than what the rest of this field has been recorded recently.

The No. 3 is carrying some good value in this spot and it’s hard to oppose. I’m going with Abraa Jabraa for a win.

                  Distance:1 Mile
                  Purse:$13,020

Race 6 is a mile on the dirt for a $13,020 purse. Expect The Public Halo and Top of the Game to show off well in this race.

The Public Halo is 4 for 33 and has a good chance of scoring a win today. He’s finished 1st, 6th, 4th, 3rd in his previous four events, with a win most recently on November 29 in a $13,130 race.

Following that one, The Public Halo has struggled to get back on winning terms. In his latest outing, he showed 3rd on January 26 for a $13,020 event.

Remaining in the same class, he should be competitive but might need an extra gear for a win. Top of the Game is 16 for 54 in his career, with consistent results recently.

He has finished 1st, 4th, 3rd, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd in his previous five outings. In his last two, he placed 2nd in a $23,800 and $29,400.

All the way down to $13,020, expect Top of the Game to have a big chance of scoring at this level.
