Monday Myths: Best Place to Find the Bridgejump?

    February 13, 2022 | By Jeremy Plonk

Welcome to a continuing handicapping series for our Monday blog space, “Monday Myths.” Each week I’ll use the power of the Betmix database to take common handicapping assumptions and either support or dispel them with data. Betmix data powers the 1/ST BET app and its features like Angler and Birddog give data-minded horseplayers a treasure trove of information in which to query your own curiosities.

    Assumption:

Bridge-jumpers are best sought in smaller-pool, nighttime signals.

    Background:

Bridge-jumpers in horse racing terms are those who bet large sums to show on what appears to be a sure thing. When said sure thing doesn’t deliver a top-3 finish, said handicappers are assumed to be looking for the next bridge from which to jump. Or so the legend goes. But these bridge-jumping handicappers exist and you’ll see their appearances heavily tilt show pools each week. It seems as though it happens most often on smaller, night-time signals. One of the reasons being that the state of West Virginia, home to Mountaineer and Charles Town, mandates a minimum $2.20 payout vs. $2.10 in nearly all other jurisdictions. The bridge-jumper stands to make an additional 5% return in West Virginia, doubling his or her winnings from other states. We do see high-profile bridge-jumping situations. Recall Arrogate finishing 4th of 5 at 1-20 odds in the 2017 San Diego at Del Mar, causing $22, $67 and $38 returns to show. But is it true that the smaller venues are where to find most of this action?

    Data Points:

I dialed up the Betmix database to look at every $20-plus show payoff since the start of 2017, a little more than five years. The database found just over 1,600 such returns, often multiple in the same race as all 3 runners across the board saw large payoffs. I filtered by tracks to see the top-10 most prevalent, and by class.

    Overall Findings:

-Charles Town had 133 show returns of $20-plus.

-Gulfstream had 133 show returns of $20-plus.

-Parx had 94 show returns of $20-plus.

-Mountaineer had 91 show returns of $20-plus.

-Delta Downs had 83 show returns of $20-plus.

-Woodbine had 71 show returns of $20-plus.

-NYRA (Aqu-Bel-Sar) had 70 show returns of $20-plus.

-Remington Park had 65 show returns of $20-plus.

-Laurel Park had 56 show returns of $20-plus.

-Mahoning Valley had 49 show returns of $20-plus.

    //

Maiden claimers had 392 show returns of $20-plus.

Maiden special weight had 236 show returns of $20-plus.

Claiming races had 676 show returns of $20-plus.

Allowance races had 215 show returns of $20-plus.

Stakes races had 103 show returns of $20-plus.

    Overall Findings:

Charles Town, in West Virginia, tied for the most bridge-jumper show returns along with Gulfstream Park, which runs the most live dates of any singular, daytime signal in America by far annually. Four of the top-8 most likely venues for a $20-plus show return, indeed, were smaller, nighttime signals (CT, Mnr, DeD, RP). In terms of race-class and impact on bridge-jumper results, more than 1000 of the 1600+ such returns came in either claiming or maiden claiming races. The higher the class, the fewer such examples.

Bottom line: While it’s not wildly obvious and confirmed, the numbers do indicate there’s a reasonable amount of truth to the assumption that the smaller night-time signals are the bridge-jumpers’ havens. And notably, Mountaineer has cut its racing dates in recent years, otherwise may rank higher than its current No. 4 spot overall.

    Additional details:

You can go into Betmix and run your own queries for a deeper dive into this theory and any that you can create. For instance, research the impact of field size on bridge-jumper returns or perhaps distance and surfaces to try and unearth where the next might be most likely to happen.

Top Horse Racing Picks for Tuesday, February 15, 2022
By J.W. Paine in Horse Racing

Although both Mahoning Valley Race Course and Parx Racing had more horseracing underdogs to tout than favorites, it was Turf Paradise that provides all the fireworks for Tuesday, yielding up third- and fourth-favored picks as well as an 8/1 sleeper to complete the day on a profitable note.

Don’t forget to review the full race-cards for all three tracks at our best horseracing wagering sites.

      Good luck!
My Tuesday Picks for Mahoning Valley Race Course

Let’s start on the main track with race five, a six-furlong allowance race for Ohio-bred three-year-olds and upward that have never won four races. I’m backing the second-favored (at 3/1) Wapakoneta Phil, ridden by T. D. Houghton.

This five-year-old gelding finished int eh money eight of his eleven career starts, winning three.
Yes, I see that the morning-line favorite, To Win, has moneyed in several Ohio-specific stakes races. I also see that he’s got a tendency to get into the money zone quite late on the track, and I don’t think six furlongs is going to be enough runway.

Candace M. Huffman trains Wapakoneta Phil for J S Stable.

Race six is a six-furlong allowance run on the main track for fillies and mares three years old and upward that have never won three races. My money’s on the second-favored (at 5/2) Romantical Note, with Fernando Salazar Becerra in the irons.

This four-year-old filly finished five of her 14 career starts in the money, winning two, including her most recent allowance run at Mahoning Valley last month. She also won the race previous to that—in August at Colonial Downs—but was DQ’d by the stewards for a positive drug test.

Twenty-year horseracing veteran Jose Atala trains Romantical Note for owner Wilson Eduardo Colindres. Atala tapped Becerra to saddle Romantical Note for her most recent win.

Race seven is a six-furlong claiming race on the main track for three-year-olds and upward that have not won two races since October 15.I like the first half of the 1/1A coupled entry—3/1 morning-line favorite Hover, ridden by veteran jockey Luis Antonio Gonzalez.

This five-year-old gelding moneyed 15 of his 21 career starts, winning seven. Versus the rest of this otherwise unimpressive field of nine, Hover’s got this.

Incidentally, the second half of the coupled entry—Pat Daddy—isn’t likely to finish anywhere near a paycheck, so don’t look to him for help.

Both Hover and Pat Daddy are owned and trained by Nestor Rivera.
      Tuesday Picks for Parx Racing

We’re beginning on the dirt track with race three, a one-mile and 70 yards starter optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward. I’m calling this one for the 3/1 second-favored Flimflam Man, piloted by top jockey Jaime Rodriguez.

This four-year-old colt finished in the money for seven of his eleven career starts, winning two, including his most recent claiming race earlier this month.

Jamie Ness trains Flimflam Man for owners Morris E. Kernan, Jr. Yo Berbs, and Jagger Inc. Jaime Rodriguez was in the irons for Flimflam Man’s win two weeks ago here at Parx.

Race eight is a one mile and 70 yards claiming race on the main track for fillies and mares four years sold and upward that have not won a race since November 15 (claiming races for $8,000 or less not considered in eligibility).

I like the second-favored (at 4/1) Tiz a Sharpie, with Silvestre Gonzalez aboard. This six-year-old mare finished 18 of her 30 career starts in the money, winning six, including her most recent here at Parx in January. She’s starting 2022 with the same zest that made her 2021 her best year to-date.
Sure, one of the three 8/1 fourth-favored entries in this eight-horse race might get into the money, but I see Tiz a Sharpie in the winner’s circle.

Bobbi Anne Hawthorne trains Tiz a Sharpie for owner Andy J. Hawthorne. Incidentally, jockey Gonzalez is having a very good 2022.

Race nine is a six-furlong allowance optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward. I’m betting my two dollars on the 9/5 morning-line favorite, Breezy Gust, ridden by Jomar Torres.

This five-year-old gelding has the statistics to negate any lack (real or imagined) in Jomar Torres’ jockeying skills. For the record, Breezy Gust moneyed ten of his 16 career starts, winning six, including his most recent. His stats are far and away the best numbers among this six-horse field.

Daniel Velazquez trains Breezy Gust for owners John Fanelli and Longball Stables, LLC. Velazquez put Torres in the irons last month for Breezy Gust’s win at Penn National.
      Tuesday’s Picks for Turf Paradise

Let’s start on the main track with race one, a 6-1/2 furlong allowance optional claiming race for fillies and mares four years old and upward. Despite what the morning-line odds say, this short field of five doesn’t make for that tight of a race, and it will almost certainly not be won by the 2/1 favorite.

Instead, I see a winner’s circle photog session in the cards for the 7/2 fourth-favored Big Stretch, with Luis A. Valenzuela in the irons.
I know, I know: The 2/1 fave—Time for Gold—won two stakes races. Very nice, but those were both back in 2020—I’ve seen the papyrus they were recorded on.

Longtime horseracing veteran Don Schnell trains Big Stretch for A2 Thoroughbreds.

Race two is a one-mile starter optional claiming race on the main track for four-year-olds and upward. I’m calling this one for the third-favored (at 9/2) Magic Mosco, ridden by veteran jockey Daniel P. Vergara.

Aggressively campaigned at the stakes level, this five-year-old gelding moneyed 14 of his 26 career starts, winning five, including the San Juan County Commissioners Stakes at Sunray Park last May and the Budweiser Special Stakes (Black Type) at Albuquerque last September.

Magic Mosco is trained by owner Martin Valdez-Cabral, Jr.

Race five is a five-furlong claiming race for four-year-olds and upward. I like the 8/1 sleeper Nevadan, piloted by Karlo Lopez.

One of the older entries in this eight-horse field, this nine-year-old gelding finished in the money 38 of his 67 career starts, winning 15—which gives him a slight edge over the M/L favorite.

Looking at Nevadan from a different perspective, he’s won more horse races in the last 12 months than most of his competition have in their entire lives. Advantage: Nevadan.

Nevadan is trained by owner Alfredo Asprino, who is already establishing a solid reputation for himself since he began training professionally in 2019.

Sunland Park Selections for February 15, 2022 – Horse Racing Picks

The Road to the Kentucky Derby is currently on, but it doesn’t start in my book until there is at least a 50-20-10-5 race. The $400,000 Risen Star Stakes (Gr. 2) at Fair Grounds Race Course on Saturday has a sizable purse and a total of 85 points up for grabs. A win could put a horse in the Kentucky Derby at Fair Grounds.

        Industry Leading 9% Cashback!

BetOnline has five racecourses available for wagering on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Turf Paradise, Sunland Park, Penn National Race Course, Parx, and Louisana Downs are active on the card. Our first look on Tuesday is at Sunland Park.

There is $133,100 in prize money available in New Mexico at Sunland Park on Tuesday. Head below for our best Sunland Park picks on February 15, 2022.

The first race at Sunland Park is a 6 ½ furlong event for a $12,700 purse. Consider More Firewater and Road to Heat for a win bet on these terms. More Firewater is a one-time winner through 18 events.

He’s finished 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 9th in his previous four assignments. More Firewater had a standout showing on December 13 with a 6 length $16,500 win. That was his best run of 2021 for his first career win.

He fell off to 3rd and then 9th most recently on January 30 for a $13,200 purse. That was a disappointing trip, but down in distance from a mile to 6 ½ furlongs, More Firewater could have a good chance.

Road to Heat has finished 4th, 7th, 2nd in his previous three attempts and a one-time winner in 14 races. He placed 2nd behind Ima Saint Too by 1 ½ lengths in a $12,700 race.

That was a solid effort after finishing 7th on New Year’s Day in a $13,200 assignment. Back to good form on January 25, Road to Heat should be tough to beat. I’m looking at the No. 3 to have enough to edge out his foes.

        Post Time: 3:04 p.m. MST
        Distance: 5 Furlongs
        Purse:$16,000

Race 7 is a 5-furlong event for a $16,000 purse on the dirt. The two runners on the outside should get into top contention for a look at the winner’s circle.

Michelle Who has finished 4th, 1st, 1st, 6th, 4th in five attempts. Three races back Michelle Who came through at the wire for a $19,000 purse. That was a strong 1 ¼ length win for Michelle Who.

However, she dropped to 6th on January 11 for $28,000, and then 4th on January 30 for $26,500. A class drop is needed and down to $16,000, Michello Who can’t be disregarded on your ticket.

Miss Melody has been in good form and is back to where she is comfortable after stakes events. She has finished 10th, 1st, 1st, 8th, 6th in five races in her career.

After a win on October 19 for a $33,000 prize by 2 ¼ lengths, she went stakes racing. Miss Melody finished 8th in the $75,000 Zia Park Distaff Stakes on November 23.

In a similarly disappointing performance, Miss Melody went 6th in the $65,000 Bold Ego Handicap on January 9. Not the best work, but down to $16,000 for the lowest class of her career, she has to be in consideration.

        Post Time: 3:31 p.m. MST
        Distance:6 ½ Furlongs
        Purse:$13,200

Race 8 comes with a $13,200 purse across 6 ½ furlongs on the dirt. Look for Dixie Jen and Storm N Gold to have a solid chance of getting this one for a win.

Dixie Jen should have a good opportunity to see a clear track on Tuesday. She has finished 5th, 6th, 8th, 3rd in her previous four outings, with a win in 22 races going into this assignment.

In her last showing, Dixie Jen settled for 3rd in a $13,200 event. That wasn’t too bad after finishing 8th on January 11 for $32,600. In this winnable class, expect Dixie Jen to be competitive.

Storm N Gold is 1 for 8 with a winning sprint on January 5 in her latest outing. The filly ran in nice form there, as Storm N Gold stood out with a 1 length win for $11,600.

Before the win, Storm N Gold finished 4th on November 29 in a $11,000 assignment. Off since her win in early January, Storm N Gold carried herself well on February in a 4-furlong furlong, clocked at 49.03 seconds.

Storm N Gold is catching good value on Monday in Race 8.

Penn National Race Course Selections for February 15, 2022 – Horse Racing Picks

The BetOnline racebook has five racecourses available for wagering on Tuesday. This is a slow stakes week, but this weekend should be a good card. All eyes will be on Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.

          Industry Leading 9% Cashback!

The $400,000 Risen Stakes (Gr. 2.) Road to the Kentucky Derby prep race is scheduled on Saturday afternoon. Fair Grounds also has the $300,000 Rachel Alexandra (Gr. 2) for notable stakes events this weekend. There are a total of six stakes races this weekend at Fair Grounds.

We have two cards covered at BetOnline on Tuesday. We’re at Sunland Park and Penn National Race Course looking for winning horses. Access our Sunland Park page if you want more horse racing picks on Tuesday.

Penn National Race Course has nine races for $157,400 in prize money this evening in Pennsylvania. Head below for our best Penn National Race Course picks on February 15, 2022.

          Purse:$27,100

Race 4 is a $27,100 event covering 6 furlongs on the dirt. Fed Chair and Thinkin Out Loud should be in strong contention for the top prize here.

Fed Chair made his debut on July 21 and came up with a sharp performance. He placed 2nd behind For the Dreamers by 4 ¼ lengths in a $42,000 assignment for a good run as a first-time runner.

In a tough run as a rookie, Fed Chair handled it pretty well. The gelding is kicking down in class to face a more manageable field. Thinkin Out Loud has to be considered in this lesser event.

Thinkin Out Loud is consistent through three races. He has finished 4th, 3rd, 2nd, placing 2nd behind Nice Weather in his last race by 3 lengths for $18,100.

He is likely to be competitive, with experience on his side, but Fed Chair makes the most sense to come through at the wire with a winning run.

The seventh race at Penn National on Tuesday evening covers a mile for a $10,800 purse on the dirt. Expect nice runs from Royalbonnielegacy and Lady Brexit for decent chances for success.

Royalbonnielegacy is 5 for 24 in her career, with a decent appearance on January 19. She showed 3rd for a $10,800 prize after finishing 5th on January 12 in a $13,100 event.

The class drop helped put Royalbonnielgacy back in competitive standing. Expect her to continue running well in a $10,800 race on Tuesday.

Lady Brexit is 7 for 39 with another opportunity to be in contention today. In her latest attempt, Lady Brexit came through with a 2 ¾ length $18,000 win.

That was a good look for Lady Brexit after struggling on January 8. Lady Brexit finished 10th for a $27,0000 purse, the drop to $18,000 gave her what she needed.

An additional drop in grade to $10,800 should give Lady Brexit the advantage. This should be a race where Lady Brexit thrives against the competition.

          (4) Grey Quest
          +160 (8/5)
          (5) Artie Chiller
          +350 (7/2)
          (6) Alpha’s Candy Man
          +500 (3/1)

          Post Time: 9:10 p.m. EST
          Distance:6 Furlongs
          Purse:$15,400

Our final selection at Penn National is a 6-furlong event for a $15,400 purse in Race 8. Artie Chiller and Grey Quest should have a strong presence in the stretch run in this one.

Artie Chiller is winless in four attempts, finishing 8th, 4th, 5th, 3rd in his career. He showed 3rd for an $18,700 purse. This was after finishing 5th on November 17 in a $27,100 event.

Sliding down to the $18,700 helped nicely. Expect even more from Artie Chiller on Tuesday in this grade for a $15,400 purse.

Grey Quest has finished 8th, 4th, 14th, 2nd, 4th in five assignments. He placed 2nd two races back in a $15,400 event behind The Honorable One by a neck.

That was a good attempt, though Grey Quest couldn’t handle an $18,100 assignment, finishing 4th to slide back down to $15,400.

This looks like a good spot for Grey Quest. Despite going 4th in his last race, that’d probably be enough versus this weak field.
          The Bet
          (4) GREY QUEST
          +160

            Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 15th February 2022
By: Racing and Sports Time published 2022-02-15 at 03:41 PM (GMT +11:00)

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Wyong and Mackay.

            WYONG: RACE 1 @ 1:15 PM

BESSMATI (5) looked good running second at Doomben on debut before not being disgraced in Listed company at Randwick last time out. Will find this a stack easier and looks the one they all have to run down. The well-related and well-bred GLOWSTICKS (4) faces the starter for the first time but has shown enough in both trials to warrant serious consideration in this. Respect. Stablemate VICTORINE (9) improved sharply to run third on the Kensington surface and is a must for the multiples. EVER UPWARD (3) was a handy second at Scone on debut and will have taken plenty from that day at the races. In the mix. BLUE CANASTA (1) is from a good barn and draws the rails. Watch betting.
            SELECTIONS: Bessmati to win.

As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Wyong Computer Card.

            MACKAY: RACE 7 @ 5:25 PM

ALEYSA'S QUEEN (8) is fast and belted them at Rockhampton back to a 55. That stacks right up and she sits at the bottom of the weights. Up 150m but she'll lead them a merry chase again. YUAN FEN (6) peaks off the nose-defeat at Bowen. Always put is and can make the quinella. WILD WIND (3) deserved the easy win this grade at Townsville. Keeps improving and is a chance. CAPTAIN FOX (4) was tracking well before the latest and will use the rail. Running the 1200m right out is the query.
            SELECTIONS: Backing Aleysa's Queen.

There are 3 meetings in the UK on Tuesday. with Ayr and Lingfield centre stage with some largely low grade jumps action in the afternoon. All weather fans can get stuck into the twilight card at Newcastle, with the lights coming on for the 4.08pm.
SELECTION Track Time (UK) Horse ODDS
DAILY NAP Lingfield 1:35 PM Cousu Main 1.72
VALUE ANGLE Lingfield 1:00 PM Stanley Pincombe 2.75

Best odds available as at 4pm February 14th 2021. Odds may now differ.
                Today’s Daily Nap

                Cousu Main

                Lingfield 1:35 pm

Dan Skelton’s novice impressed when getting off the mark over hurdles at Uttoxeter in December, reveling in the testing conditions to power clear of Full of Light up the straight (runner-up has franked the form by winning since). The forecast rain is very much in his favour at Lingfield on Tuesday, and he is confidently expected to defy a penalty under Harry Skelton.
                Today’s Value Angle

                Chloes Court

                Lingfield 1:00 pm

Chris Gordon has his team in blistering form at the moment, with five winners in the last fortnight, and this unexposed novice has caught the eye in three runs so far over hurdles. He now starts off into handicaps from a potentially lenient mark, and has been found a very weak race on paper here with the claimer Joe Anderson taking off a handy 3lb.

                  Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

                  Penn National - Race #3
                  Picks Notes
#1 Cumberland Gap I worry a bit about his ability to finish after giving away ground late in some recent starts, but there doesn't appear to be an overload of pace in here, and this guy might land a decent trip while tracking the pace in the pocket.
#8 Pettinberg He faded badly last time out, but he's a decent fit with these on his best day, and he figures in line for a great trip right near the top while hopefully not taking too much pressure. Worth having on the tickets.
#4 Pepe Tono He's a long way from his best, but he has been in with some better groups in those recent starts. Worry that he's going to be a bit overbet in a spot like this, but he appears to be a legit player here.
Race Summary Cumberland Gap is quick enough to sit near the top in a race without a ton of other early pace, and he might be a decent enough price off the fading effort last time out.

                  Penn National - Race #6
                  Picks Notes
#4 Bluegrass Posse There might be enough pace in here to set things up for someone to rally from off the splits, and he should be a nice price while rising out of a cheaper score last out. Interesting at a price.
#5 Don't Losemymoney Tactical type has some pace, but he draws well while outside of some other speed to hopefully avoid getting dragged into an early battle. He's probably at his best on the front, but he can also land this from a prompting spot.
#7 Memory Bouquet He'll have to turn the tables off a modest effort last time out, but he's quick enough to sit close in the early going from a good draw for his style. He wouldn't surprise here.
Race Summary Bluegrass Posse has a bit of finishing ability that most of these lack, and there seems to be a real chance of a pace battle developing in this one. This guy should be a nice number on the board while getting a good race shape.

                  Penn National - Race #9
                  Picks Notes
#6 American Forces Think he's probably going to hit pretty hard with these, as he is quick enough to sit close and was a good fit with a tough winner when facing similar last time out. Strong lean to close the card.
#4 Middle Earth He's usually along a little bit too late to land things, but his form has been a good fit when facing similar. Certainly he would be no surprise, but he feels quite a bit more likely in the underneath spots.
#7 Crafty Jack He has to turn tables on Middle Earth from their last meeting, but he might work out a decent enough trip from the high draw, and he can probably show something better than he did in his first local try.
Race Summary American Forces has a right to be tough, as he will get a jump on a finisher like Middle Earth, and he can be tough with these after a pretty solid first try at the level last out.

                    Monticello - Race #3
                    Picks Notes
#4 OUR REGAL IDEAL N Erratic behind gate, led until stretch fade.
#6 LANAS DESIRE Second in fast heat two back, broke stride in follow up.
#1 MASTERSON Good recovery from break, third start this year.
Race Summary Our Regal Ideal N returned from Yonkers, made the lead despite racing erratically on the run-up to the gate and wilted late. He's a good value play if he minds his manners. Bet to win and place.

                    Dover Downs - Race #1
                    Picks Notes
#5 BIGBAMAJIM Set all the pace, caught late, wheels right back in same spot.
#2 FIRM RINGO Earned top speed figure in field when third at Rosecroft last out.
#1 ATS HANOVER Swept to lead in repeat try, finished second, driver's choice of two.
Race Summary Bigbamajim changed tactics on the class drop and led every step of the way until the last one. He is unproven in the nw-2 condition but offers plenty of value to gimmicks at 12-1 on the morning line. Play faces a tougher field but can win with a duplicate performance. Play a 1-2-5 exacta box.

                    Dover Downs - Race #5
                    Picks Notes
#4 DREAM TELLER Out and moving early, got up for third to keep in-money streak intact.
#2 SETTING SUN Burned money in the Midwest, makes seasonal debut in new barn.
#3 IMWONCAPTAINWISER Has speed, lacks stretch stamina, use underneath in gimmicks.
Race Summary Take a cue from Bigbamajim's performance in the first race because Dream Teller finished behind him. Dream Teller broke the single-file alignment early on the backside, followed the second favorite on the turn and ran third. Play 4-2 and 4-3 exactas.

                      Turf Paradise - Race #1
                      Picks Notes
#1 Mine Me Was second vs. similar last out and has several races on her form that give her a big chance here.
#3 Anatolia Ran evenly at Los Al last out and has shown speed in several races; in a good spot to join the early battle.
#4 Time for Gold Was third in two of her las three and despite not winning over the strip, she's been competitive.
Race Summary Mine Me gave it her best and wound up second last start, and a similar run can get her to the winner's circle in this one.

                      Turf Paradise - Race #2
                      Picks Notes
#1 Fullbridledphantom Has been on the turf a lot lately, but he's done well on dirt as well; won her two races back.
#3 Majestic Cafe Moving up the class ladder and comes in off a win vs. N3L company; has the speed to battle throughout.
#5 Magic Mosco Rallied well and just missed last time; hasn't won since taking a stakes race at Albuquerque and fits well here.
Race Summary Fullbridledphantom has good dirt races and is well spotted; won over this strip last year.

                      Turf Paradise - Race #7
                      Picks Notes
#2 Macedonian Ruler Clipped heels and lost rider last time, when he was claimed by McFarlane; can get back to good form.
#4 Back Alley Cat Closed very well and won going away against N3Lfoes last out; has improved over his last two and can be a factor.
#5 Single Barrel Pressed throughout his last one at Golden Gate and can be a player in his first here.
Race Summary Macedonian Ruler lost all chance when he stumbled and pitched his rider last time and with an uneventful trip here can be tough to beat.
