7 Unit Play Take #688 UTEP -2.5 over Old Dominion (9:00pm est):
This is the opening game for both teams here in the Conference USA tournament that's being played at a neutral site. Old Dominion comes into this game having dropped 8 in a row straight-up and also against the spread in conference games played away from home. The Monarchs were also 0-3 at neutral site games making them a combined 3-14 overall in games played away from home this season. Even more eye opening is the fact ODU has went 1-9 (9 straight losses currently) in Conference USA play this season against the spread in games where they were an underdog like they are in this one tonight.
On the other side of things UTEP comes in winners of 10 of their last 14 games overall. The Miners are an underrated team currently due to the fact they have been without one of their top players in Keonte Kennedy for more than half the season. Kennedy has been back the last 3 games for UTEP and the sophomore is starting to become a big time scorer averaging 18 points per game while also knocking down nearly 50% of his 29 three point attempts in his last 7 contests. The Miners already went into ODU earlier this year and beat them and they did so without Kennedy playing in that game.
UTEP is a much better team with Kennedy on the floor and I expect them to show that here in this game. Lay the points with UTEP in this one.
