Race 1: Cheung Sha Handicap

#2 Amazing Teens shapes as the one to beat. He’s a two-time course and distance winner this term and his pairing with Zac Purton commands respect. He draws well and maps to get the run of the race. #4 Mission Bravo should find the front. He won well last start leading from the get-go and it’s expected he tries the same once more. #6 Unite Spirit has claims on the dirt. He pairs favourably with Blake Shinn. #3 Pakistan Friend is racing well. Expect he rolls forward and from there gets his chance to hang around at the finish.

Race 2: Cafeteria Handicap

#2 Handsome Rebel does his best racing on the dirt. He switches to his preferred surface for the first time in a while and from gate three, coupled with Vincent Ho – he shapes as the one to beat. #7 Turf Brilliant is also much preferred on the dirt. He only needs to offset the wide gate to be a factor. #10 Speed Force pairs with Joao Moreira. He’s in career-best form and another bold run is expected here, even from the wide barrier. #5 Crown Avenue has winning experience on the dirt on his side. Don’t discount the old boy here.

Race 3: Hap Mun Bay Handicap

#8 Coolceleb mixes his form, but the dirt is his go. He won well over the course and distance last term and after five runs on the turf he finally switches to preferred conditions. #2 Flying Dragon is a course and distance winner this term. He’s holding his condition and pairs favourably with Zac Purton from the inside gate. #4 Colourful Prince steps out on debut after leading throughout in a trial recently on the dirt. Expect a forward showing from the favourable draw. #6 Moeraki is next best. Keep safe, especially with Joao Moreira engaged.

Race 4: Clear Water Bay Handicap

#2 Wisdom Patch turned in a career-best third last time out over this course and distance. He draws favourably with Zac Purton up. Expect a powerful finish from the in-form son of Snitzel. #6 Fortune Happiness is a proven customer on the dirt. He’s a three-time winner on the dirt who is not without a chance of recapturing his best, albeit from a while ago. #10 Masterwork has found his feet in Hong Kong. He can improve off the back of a near career-best effort last start on the dirt. #3 Beauty Cheers is next best. He’s holding his condition.

Race 5: Silvermine Bay Handicap

#4 Majestic Star is an improving type who can claim several high-profile scalps here. He’s a horse on the up whose ascent looks far from over as he chases bigger riches than this contest. Good gate and good jockey should see him test this group. #2 Duke Wai has the class-edge here. The inside draw is favourable, and he meets a considerably weaker field here than what he is accustom to facing. #1 Kurpany should find the front under Alfred Chan. Don’t discount, even with the hefty impost. #3 Silver Fig is racing well. Next best.

Race 6: Hap Mun Bay Handicap

#8 Blissful Star did well last start to finish fourth. He’s bred to enjoy the dirt and it wouldn’t surprise to see him take another step forward here on a surface that he may well relish under race conditions. #3 Thunderstrike sees Douglas Whyte and Zac Purton combine. He’s in seriously good form and the only concern is the awkward gate from the six furlong start which, can be an issue at times. #4 Fiery Diamond is coming to hand. He also just needs to offset a tricky draw. #7 Happy Tango knows what the dirt is about. He’s next best.

Race 7: Kiu Tsui Handicap

#8 Apache Pass is a two-time winner from his last three starts – both times on the dirt. He’s racing well and switching back to the dirt here after racing on the turf last time out is a positive. He can win again. #3 Ultra Express is racing well. He’s well bred for the dirt and gate four holds him in good stead. #12 Party Everyday has a powerful finish on his day. He gets in light and pairs favourably with Joao Moreira who nabbed a double on the weekend. #9 Romantic Combo is next best in a tricky contest.

Race 8: Pui O Handicap

#8 Trader should find the front and run this field along. He could pinch this under Zac Purton, especially with no weight on his back from the inside gate. #7 Lightning Bolt scored impressively last time out. He only needs to offset the wide gate to be a factor once again. #4 Metro Warrior won well two starts ago. He’s holding his condition and is well weighted to perform here. #11 Like That is looking to transfer his heroics on the grass to the turf. He’s previously run well on the dirt and is expected to do so again.

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for March 30.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Canterbury, Sandown-Hillside, Pinjarra Scarpside and Oakbank.

CANTERBURY: RACE 2 @ 2:20 PM

THE ART OF FLYING (6) has done everything but win with four placings from five starts including two at Listed level. Strips fitter second-up and strikes a winnable contest here. Rates the testing material. AIRCRAFTMAN (1) has placed over this track and trip and gets the services of Rawiller in the irons. Looks a major player. The well-related BRECHEN (2) has been good in recent Warwick Farm trials and a market watch is advised on debut. HOLLYWOOD NORTH (3) has placed over this journey and is one for the exotics. SHRILL WHISTLE (4) is another facing the starter the first time but is sure to be well-educated from the astute barn. Respect.
SELECTIONS: The Art Of Flying to win.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 8 @ 6:30 PM

AUSTRATA (14) looks ready to win. Outsprinted from the top of the lane here last time by a good winner. Doubt this is much tougher, if at all, and he finds himself at the bottom of the handicapper now. Looks very dangerous down there. RAPID ACHIEVER (12) was a winner here fresh and sound latest in a hot race. Looks the chief threat. THE NEPHEW (10) has been kept fresh since winning the Tassie Derby and must have a hope here off that. Also off a last start win is TARN'S PRINCE (1) who runs for a yard in form. Fitter and must have a shot at them.
SELECTIONS: Austrata looks the one to be with.

PINJARRA SCARPSIDE: RACE 4 @ 2:54 PM

STRIKE NOW (1) looks to be a very promising type and was a solid runner up last time out. His effort when winning on this course two back was that of a horse that won't be in this grade for long and he looks to have this field at his mercy. KEYTRADE (2) produced a big effort to clear his maiden status on this track two starts back and was then beaten but not disgraced at his next outing in tougher company at Ascot. He has always promised a lot and will be suited to the small field today. Watch closely. BRAVE CONTENDER (5) is a consistent performer and put in his usual honest effort when finishing third most recently at Albany. He has a sound record at the distance and won't be far away. REGAL CITY (4) just missed getting all the chocolates fresh up at Geraldton and should be even sharper for that run. He has been a winner second up in the past and from his perfect inside draw should give his opposition plenty to think about. Include in all multiples.
SELECTIONS: Strike Now win bet.

OAKBANK: RACE 4 @ 3:25 PM

PRINCESS RAFFLES (13) has threatened three times at Listed and Group 3 level and third-up should be ready to fire. Only has to be near best to make short work of this line-up. LIGHT'S VISION (2) trialled well and wasn't beaten far in a strong form race at Hamilton on debut. Draws handy and is sure to have come on. Expecting him to go well. A MIDNIGHT SHADOW (8) has been racing well all campaign. Will likely push forward and back to the sprint shouldn't bother. She's a hope at a price. REBEL LEE (14) is in good hands and will be better for the debit outing. Draws well today and may prove next best.
SELECTIONS: Hard to go past Princess Raffles.

here are 4 meetings in the UK on Wednesday, with uncompetitive fast ground jumps action from Market Rasen and Wincanton. Small fields are likely to be the order of the day as the dry spell of weather continues, and flat fans will be looking to the all-weather cards at Kempton (twilight fixture starting at 5.30pm) and Lingfield.

Metropolitan racing in Sydney on Wednesday has been transferred from Warwick Farm to Canterbury Park due to the state of the track. HorseBetting’s Nicholas Lloyd brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the eight-race program, which is set to start at 1:45pm AEDT. The track is rated a Heavy 10 and the rail is in the true position, while drying weather across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday should help the track improve.
Best Bet at Canterbury – The Art Of Flying

One horse we highlighted a few weeks ago in The Follow Files was the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained The Art Of Flying. The three-year-old gelding by Flying Artie was first-up off a long break in the $750,000 Inglis Sprint behind Overpass and Spellcatcher on March 5 at Flemington where he closed off very strongly from the back to run third. In his five career starts, he is yet to win, but his four placings have come behind Sneaky Five, Anamoe, Sharp Response and Overpass, while on the only occasion that he missed the minor money, he was 6.5 lengths behind Paulele. That is some serious form for a Wednesday, plus the booking of James McDonald and the good barrier (6) only add to his winning credentials. He should be able to break through.

Next Best at Canterbury – Reggiewood

Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou now train former Hong Kong-based galloper Reggiewood. The five-year-old gelding has had two starts in Australia, running third when first-up and then winning in fine style on the Kensington track on February 2. Since that win eight weeks ago, the stable has sent the son of Redwood back to the trials where he went around behind Alligator Blood and Arranmore on February 21. He will carry plenty of residual fitness from his last two starts, so the 1900m should not be too much of a concern for the last-start 1800m winner. He drops 1kg off that win, he’s drawn to do no work from barrier six under Jay Ford and he won with plenty in hand last time out, so we are happy to be with him.

Next Best Again at Canterbury – Standing Order

In the opener, Peter & Paul Snowden will saddle up two-year-old colt Standing Order in a 2YO Maiden Handicap over 1200m. The son of Merchant Navy was defeated on debut by Williamsburg, who is a subsequent Group 3 winner, before running seventh in the Group 3 Black Opal at Canberra. He stays at 1200m on Wednesday and should be able to take up the lead from barrier seven under Tommy Berry like he did on debut. The Heavy 10 track is a query, but that is the case for each and every runner in this field, especially with a number of first starters. He can break his maiden status in this.

#9 Natavalli's Knight He drops again after chasing and fading in his first start with maiden claiming company, and he draws well here to prompt the other forward players from the outside. Wouldn't be a surprise to see him stay better here.
#7 Tough Workout Seems like he's all or nothing here, as he's likely to have a go for it on the engine while dropping in with these. He wouldn't be a real surprise on the front end here if he discourages anyone chasing early.
#8 He Runs the Line Wouldn't want to have too much tied up here as he makes his 18th career start, but he might inherit a really good trip with a few potentially decent forward players signed on.
Race Summary This is a competitive group where the pair closest to the rail didn't make the top three, but they both seem capable in here. Natavalli's Knight seems interesting enough while getting a change of scenery, and he is not as exposed as most of these with just two career starts to his name.

#4 Memento Mi She showed much more early interest in that second start, tracking the pace and moving into it before settling for second. Think she'll be right up on a set of splits that might prove pretty manageable.
#1 Peach Perfect She'll turn back after another useful run going long last out, but I worry she's going to be running from too far off it in a race that might advantage the more tactical types.
#6 Caliente Rum Riser is probably too cheap for these, but maybe she's quickest out of the gate in a race with some chasing types who may not be entirely committed to an early battle. The price should be right.
Race Summary Memento Mi might work out a pretty nice trip near the front early on here, and she's a big danger here if she has any kind of step forward in her off the four-month layoff run last time out.

#3 Bold Confection She has the right kind of tactical pace to sit just off a potential early battle today, and she should appreciate the class relief after being overmatched at 30/1 in Grade III company last time out.
#2 Hey Mamaluke Tons of respect for this one's dangerous early speed, but I worry that the presence of another potentially sharp new pace foe in #5 Dontletsweetfoolya might soften her up enough for someone to pick her up late.
#6 Glory Dia She has some pretty reliable finishing form and has been competitive with this kind in the recent past, and she might work out a pretty good spying trip here.
Race Summary Bold Confection gets some class relief today and figures for a pretty decent trip. She has some tactical speed but can sit off any battle that develops in the early going. Expecting a bounce back effort here.
