4.5-STAR GOLDEN STATE over Memphis – The Warriors almost pulled off game two despite shooting 7-of-38 on threes. That is an anomaly that will correct itself in this game. Memphis meanwhile got overly reliant on Ja Morant isolations in game two and it worked out. But that will be difficult to replicate and we don’t see that going well here. Memphis is a huge underdog in this game three. On the season they have been favored by an average of -2.7 points per game. Teams playing a playoff game with a line at least eight points higher than the average line in their games on the season are a play against. So far both games in the series have been tight and the series is knotted up 1-1. Favorites in game 3 of a series tied 1-1 are 22-8-1 ATS since 2016. Golden State is coming off a 106-101 loss in game two. Teams that are favored by more than four points coming of a 3+ point playoff loss are 178-116 ATS. Memphis was carried by Ja Morant with a monstrous 47 points in the win. Teams coming off a playoff game with at least a 43-point scorer are 12-25 ATS. The problem is their second leading scorer had just 14 points in that game. Teams coming off a playoff game where their top scorer at least 19 points more than their second leading scorer are 25-40 ATS. Teams in all games where their top scorer had at least 29 points more than their second leading scorer are 47-66 ATS. Again it was the three-point shooting that killed Golden State in that game going 7-of-38 from long range. Teams that shot less than 20% on at least 19 three-point attempts last playoff game are 49-29 ATS. Still Golden State had 27 assists in that game. But also 18 turnovers. Teams that had at least 25 assists and more than 15 turnovers last game in the playoffs are 82-51 ATS. Both Steph Curry and Draymond Green had at least seven assists each in that game.
