The Minnesota Twins are 25-11 in their last 36 games overall. They are hitting the cover off the ball and living up to their potential over the past month or so. They should make easy work of the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of this series Monday afternoon.

Nice spot for the Cardinals here as they catch the Padres travelling off a hard-fought series win over the Pirates which culminated with an extra innings victory yesterday. Nick Martinez will take the ball for San Diego. The Padres are 4-3 in Martinez's seven starts this season but it has had little to do with his strong pitching. Martinez has recorded a 4.29 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. In three daytime starts he has struggled mightily, posting a 7.07 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. Packy Naughton will get a spot start for the Cardinals. He labored through his only previous outing this season but will undoubtedly be happy about facing the Padres on Monday. Note that Naughton's lone career victory came against these same Padres last season as he tossed five shutout innings in a 4-0 Cards victory. He's catching San Diego at the right time as it has produced a grand total of 15 runs over its last six contests. Off an 8-0 drubbing at the hands of the Brewers yesterday, look for St. Louis to bounce back here. Take St. Louis.

I'll take my chances with the Rockies as a +137 home dog against the Marlins. This to me is just too good a price to pass up on Colorado. The Rockies are a different team on their home field, especially at the plate. Colorado averages just 4.6 runs/game on the season, but that spikes to 6.0 runs/game at home.
It would be one thing if the Marlins came into this game playing well, but they are just 2-7 over their last 9 games. Miami is getting a ton of love here because of who they got on the mound. Pablo Lopez has a 2.21 ERA and 0.962 WHIP over 9 starts. However, he just gave up 4 runs on 9 hits (3 HR) in his last start and will be making his first ever start at Coors Field. Give me the Rockies +137!
