                Free Selections – Belterra Park – 5/31/2022

posted on May 30, 2022 in Blogroll, Free Picks and Tips, Handicapping, Horse Racing, WinningPonies.com | Comments Off on Free Selections – Belterra Park – 5/31/2022

As we shake off the BBQ hangover and get back to work. Don’t forget there is some good value to be had at Belterra Park. – This week will start off hot, a little rain, and on Friday for the $500,000 Best of Ohio it will be sunny and 75 degrees! – In the meantime, here are a few runners that need a good look before hitting the windows.

                Belterra Park

                Race #1

#2 – Etelka = 2nd time off a layoff and is eligible to improve for Richard Estvanko. Eder Martinez in the saddle as they switch from a 6f sprint to a mile. She is 3/5 ITM at BtP and sports a couple of bullet works.

                Race #2

#1 – Speightful Charge =Draws the rail for Phil Sims who is winning at 50%. Jack Gilligan in the saddle and they are shipping in from KEE getting a 2nd shot off the layoff. She is a stalker and should be dangerous down the lane.

                Race #3

#4 – English Challenge = is a closer shipping in from CD and hails from the Estvanko barn with top rider Santiago Gonzalez in the irons. Cuts back in distance and faces a little better competition suited to his liking.

                Race #4

#5 – Momos Humor = 3rd off the layoff shipping in from Indy. Hails from the Claude L. Brownfield barn with Santiago Gonzalez in the saddle. Drops in class today and the barn wins 23% 3rd time off. She has a solid late punch.

                Race #5

#2 – Carmen Electra = Ships in from Cleveland for Elliot Sullivan and Sonny Leon in the saddle. Going a sprint-sprint-route of ground yields a 32% clip for the barn. The trainer has been 5/6 ITM the past two weeks.

                Race #6

#3 – Solesofhershoes = is a daughter of Street Boss for Rowena Beck winning 29% at the meet. Santiago Gonzalez in the saddle and she drops down in class today coming off freshened from a 2-month layoff.

                Race #7

#6 – North Elkhorn = 2nd off the layoff as trainer Jimmy Corrigan wins 20% with a repeating claimer. Abel Lezcano is winning 43% with Corrigan and make for a formidable team. The trainer has been red-hot going 4/4 ITM the past two weeks.

                Race #8

#4 – Dominar = Been off for 8 months for Eric Reed (26%) and Sonny Leon (23%). They ship in from CD and drop down in class. This is his 2nd race off the claim and trainer Eric Reed wins 25%. You may have heard of him. He trained Rich Strike to win the Derby his winning rider of the same race aboard. The sharp work puts him at the top of my list.

                  Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #4
                  Picks Notes
#2 Back to Ohio The barn has been sending live wires here, and these are the types of horses who would have typically been debuting at Arlington Park in the past, where Rivelli was ridiculous with these types. Figure she's dangerous here.
#5 I Once Stood Alone I like that he got a little experience in that two-furlong race at Parx, and he might be better with that under his belt. Wouldn't be surprised to see him turn in something better here.
#8 Mikey Bananas He'll make his first start here for a team that is capable with the right kind of firster, and he draws well to avoid any chaos near the inside early.
Race Summary Back to Ohio goes first out for the Rivelli barn, and they have dominated 2-year-old races on synthetic footing in recent years. With Arlington closed, some of those types likely end up here.

Presque Isle Downs - Race #6
                  Picks Notes
#1 Music Amore She should get a pretty great trip right near the top here, and she figures to appreciate meeting this softer group after a good first effort with winners last out.
#3 Mon Paradis The new footing is a question, but the Tampa form looks pretty compelling on paper, and she should be able to find a good spot tracking the pace early on.
#4 Serene Warrior Will be interesting to see how these three sort themselves out with similar running styles, but she's another forward player in with a chance after a really good local debut last time out.
Race Summary Tough to separate these three, but dropping Music Amore might be the right one, as she's likely to show a little pace from the fence while getting in with this easier group.

Presque Isle Downs - Race #7
                  Picks Notes
#5 Madam Maclean She's back off the layoff after last racing at Saratoga in September, and she might work out a decent trip with these while tracking the splits. Interesting.
#6 Crazyland She'll make her first North American start here, and she's not meeting the deepest group here after facing Group types last summer. Wouldn't surprise.
#8 Maggie's Bid Her form can be spotty, but she might work out a good trip from the wide draw, and I think there's a chance she really likes the new footing. Considered her on top and want her on the tickets.
Race Summary Madam Maclean gets the slight edge off the bench, as she can probably spy the speed early on here, and she seems like a good fit at this local level after the claim last year.

                    Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

                    Northfield Park - Race #1
                    Picks Notes
#4 ENFORCE THE LAW Should pop of the class drop but must stay flat.
#3 CURLY’S SON Started from post 8 in 3 of last 5 starts, ran ok in between.
#2 HITITOUTOFTHEPARK Ran third in 2 of 3 at this level before amateur races.
Race Summary Enforce The Law trotted evenly behind the three favorites off a three-month layoff. He had a breaking problem early in the year, but should win on the class drop if he stays on stride. Play 4-2 and 4-3 exactas.

                    Northfield Park - Race #5
                    Picks Notes
#1 PC’S EXPRESSO Eye-catching move to sweep past field on final turn, today’s Best Bet.
#4 AMERICAN VISION Faded while second-over against similar foes, second start for new barn.
#2 SMILING TERROR Won twice with Merriman in April, no factor in fast follow-up races.
Race Summary PC’s Expresso made a last-to-first move through a :55.4 back half. He took back from post 7 and rallied widest, but should get involved early from the rail tonight. Play 1-2 and 1-4 exactas.

                    Yonkers - Race #1
                    Picks Notes
#2 MULLINAX Held his ground until late in unthinkable 1:47.3, cuts back to half-mile oval.
#7 ANOTHRMASTRPIECE N Lived up to the hype in his U.S. debut with Lasix.
#5 WINDSUN RICKY Two wire-to-wire wins in April, rallied for third last out.
Race Summary Mullinax chased the favorites through torrid fractions and battled gamely until mid-stretch in the fastest mile at the Meadowlands this year. He draws post 2 with Gingras and should be the target tonight. Play 2-5 and 2-7 exactas.

Parx Racing Picks for May 31, 2022 – Horse Racing Betting Tips

We’re less than a week away from the Belmont Stakes, which is usually a big race. I haven’t heard that much noise about the Belmont Stakes this year, though.

That’s because there isn’t a Triple Crown on the line, but it’s probably not going to be the best field. At least compared to some recent Belmonte Stakes, there isn’t a clear Horse of the Year candidate participating.
                      Belmont Stakes Coming Soon
This marks the end of Triple Crown season. However, there hasn’t been much excitement over this race. I’m already looking ahead to the Breeders’ Cup in November.

Our first look Tuesday afternoon is at Parx in Philadelphia. Parx has 11 races worth $348,000 in prize money. Head below for our best Parx Racing picks on May 31, 2022.

                      Purse:$21,000

The first at Parx is a $21,000 event covering a mile and 70 yards. Singinthruthestorm and Will Take Control are likely in the mix for the win.

Singinthruthestorm is a one-time winner through 11 attempts in his career. He is looking good recently and the best form of his career.

                        Today’s horse racing tips – 31st May 2022
                        By: Racing and Sports Time

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 31.

                        HAWKESBURY: RACE 2 @ 12:35 PM

The well-related MATLOCK (6) returns to racing here but showed enough when last in work to warrant serious consideration in this. Van Overmeire has placed one from one when in the saddle and should take a forward position from the low draw. Tuned up for this with a solid Randwick trial win and shapes as a key contender. TAMBOURINE MAN (8) is facing the starter for the first time but has shown ability at the trials and won't need to be a superstar to be competitive against this lot. Keep a close eye on the market. GLOBE RUNNER (4) has improved with each run this time in and should be near his peak now. In the mix. KHUMBU (5) has had a few chances but is usually thereabouts and should earn some minor money. SEBROSSA (7) draws the inside alley and can run a race while fresh.
                        SELECTIONS: Matlock to win.

                        TAMWORTH: RACE 6 @ 3:20 PM

RED BOULEVARD (3) resumes for the high-striking Messara barn and was last seen over a mile at Group 3 level. Has the rail and Bullock sticks from a sharp Scone trial, Will have come on and has the form to take this out. HEAD ABOVE (7) was much better here on the same day in a bit stronger. Fitter and a hope with Buckley sticking. CARRIER BUSTER (5) comes back in grade and the former Victorian should be ready to show more and be competitive. SHEMAKESASTATEMENT (2) will be better for the two runs back in stronger races and won here only third-up outing. The 2kg claim is handy and quick improvement is likely.
                        SELECTIONS: Red Boulevard appeals.

                        HAMILTON: RACE 10 @ 4:30 PM

PURE DEAL (1) made a last-to-first midrace move then kept going to score with ease last time out over 2100m at Echuca. Shoulders 64kgs today but the weights are quite compressed save for the one at the bottom. Has thrived since switching to Victoria and is a big chance again. ANDAI STEPPES (7) led all the way to secure his long-awaited maiden win last start over 2100m on the Ballarat synthetic. Progressive stayer worth following up. SUPER SNITCH (8) also collected his maiden victory recently, coming from a long way back to score with a bit in hand at the end of 2000m at Stawell. Getting better as the trips get longer. NED AND POWER (2) went forward after being caught deep early then showed plenty of fight to get home narrowly over 2000m at Casterton 16 days ago. Very honest gelding who gets weight off the main dangers after the claim. Big chance again. BAZINI (6) missed by a whisker first up at Geelong. Promising stayer who can go one better without surprising.
SELECTIONS: #1 Pure Deal to win again.

                        TOWNSVILLE: RACE 8 @ 4:05 PM

MONSIEUR MACRON (5) is a wonderfully consistent performer who was only caught late over the mile last start. The drop in distance looks ideal and from the perfect inside gate he will take some catching again. On top. TENNESSEE BOY (11) did not take long to find his best form again with a resounding on pace victory last start. He revels in wet ground and there is no reason why he can't win again. WILLYGOOD (3) scored a narrow win two starts back and then had no luck at all last time out. He has a wide draw to overcome but should be allowed another chance. Include in all combinations. BOONA BOY (14) came with a determined run last start to win going away against lesser company and even with the step up in class here, he should not be totally overlooked. Each way value.
                        SELECTIONS: Monsieur Macron win bet.
