My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Thursday was with the Seattle Mariners with the money-line versus the Los Angeles Angels listing both starting pitchers George Kirby and Shohei Ohtani. Seattle (28-35) has lost three of their last four games after their 5-0 loss at Minnesota yesterday. The Mariners have rebounded to win 7 of their last 8 games after a loss. They have also won 5 of their last 7 opening games to a new series. Los Angeles (29-35) has lost three in a row after a 4-1 loss on the road across town against the Dodgers yesterday. The Angels have lost 19 of their last 26 games after a loss. They have also lost 11 straight games on the road. Take Seattle with the money-line listing both starting pitchers. Best of luck — Frank.

SILVERLEAF - Based on this filly's recent efforts, she should benefit from this shorter trip. Speed is always important in horse racing, but the lone speed horse is always dangerous. This filly is in top form right now. Finished second last time out and comes back soon. You have to really like that most recent race speed figure, 79, which is the highest most recent race speed rating of this group. TAKE A STAND - Oliver has this filly spotted in the right contest. WHAT'S TO DO - Just see her most recent speed fig, 79. That one fits in this bunch. This filly should improve after adding Lasix in the last race and getting it again today. Have to forget about that last grass race. This filly should do better hitting the dirt right here.

ALLTHEWAY TO CAIRO - Racing over a familiar track, where he has won multiple times before, I have to put this thoroughbred at the top of my list of contenders in this race. It looks like the pace horses may duel each other into the ground. When the real running starts this gelding should be closing strongly. Ran a lackluster race at Charles Town in the last race. Racing without the off-track conditions puts this gelding at the top of my contenders roll call. FLUENT IN SARCASM - A horse coming back this promptly after a good effort is a good sign. INSIDE RISK - I'm figuring this fine animal to run a big race today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #9 ZAINO BOYZ (ML=9/5), #8 LITTLE BOLD BANDIT (ML=5/1), #4 CONFUSION BABY BOY (ML=8/1),

ZAINO BOYZ - I find it hard to wager on any racer in a sprint event if he hasn't finished in the money in a sprint in the last 60 days. LITTLE BOLD BANDIT - Hasn't finished in the money in any short distance affairs of late. Improbable to see him doing it today either. This gelding recorded a speed rating in his last event which probably isn't good enough in today's race. CONFUSION BABY BOY - Hard to take this questionable contender at the odds after the finish (fourth) in the last affair.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - ALLTHEWAY TO CAIRO - This gelding takes a big tumble in the class figure department from a rating of 96 down to 84. Strong contender.
