SMOOTH RITHMS - Hasn't run at today's distance recently but does have a speed rating notched last time she tried this trip good enough to win. This thoroughbred obviously likes the conditions for today's race. Has registered the highest Equibase speed figure on the turf at the distance & surface. Have to make this filly a solid contender; she comes off a strong race on May 29th. Looking at today's Equibase class figure, this pony is meeting an easier group than last time out at Mountaineer Park. BISCOTTINI - You have to like this thoroughbred changing from dirt to turf for the first time. She finished on the board on a sluggish dirt track on May 20th. A sign she may take to turf. A definite class advantage goes to this horse. What that tells me is she will be very competitive in this race on the grass. FIONA POWER - I like when a thoroughbred wins after shipping in from elsewhere. It shows that they really like the track here. I'll take this mare to win again. This mare likes to lay just off the pace and the way things shape up here, she should get a perfect trip. Popular angle - 3rd or 4th start after a layoff generally leads to a big effort. This horse is live today. That 73 fig this mare earned in her last event tells me she's a main player this time around.

TANTARA - A bit of a less than stellar performance when this mare finished seventh. I don't normally play a chalk horse that hasn't been to the track in the last 3 weeks. CHEERFUL CHIMES - Can't bet on this mount in today's sprint of 7 furlongs. Hasn't even finished in the money in a sprint race lately. WEST BURKE - This horse hasn't been close in either of her last couple of outings.

This is a play on the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS for our Monday Free Play. St. Louis lost its series with the Cubs over the weekend and might have starting pitcher Jack Flaherty las he just two innings before leaving with shoulder stiffness and that would be a big blow to the staff. The Cardinals have dropped three of their last four games and are now a game behind Milwaukee in the National League Central. They remain home where they are 22-15 and are hitting .254, fourth highest in the National League, while posting a 3.62 ERA, which is No. 7 in the league. Adam Wainwright is coming off a couple poor starts but those were on the road and he has a 2.68 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in six home outings. St. Louis is 15-4 when the money line is between -100 to -150 this season. Miami salvaged the series finale against the Mets on Sunday with a 3-2 victory and finished its homestand with a 4-2 record. The Marlins are five games under .500 overall and while solid at home, they have not been good on the road, going 14-22 and both sides are to blame. Miami is hitting only .288 away from home and the team ERA is 4.22 with the bullpen being the big problem, posting a 5.12 ERA. Pablo Lopez has been solid all around with a 2.61 ERA and 1.06 WHIP and that is keeping the number for St. Louis very manageable. Miami is 9-27 in its last 36 road games against the money line after allowing two runs or less over the last two seasons. Here, we play on National League favorites with a money line of -110 or higher with a starting pitcher whose ERA is 3.70 or better on the season, after a game where the bullpen threw eight or more innings. The Texas Rangers have been one of the bigger surprises in baseball up to this point. They are 34-37 on the year and flirting with .500. Ace Martin Perez has been a big part of that.
Perez is 5-2 with a 1.96 ERA and 1.134 WHIP in 14 starts this season and the Rangers have gone 10-4 in those starts. His most impressive stat is the fact that he has only allowed two homers in 87 1/3 innings.
Perez is 3-0 with a 2.16 ERA in his last three starts against Kansas City, allowing just 4 earned runs in 16 2/3 innings. He'll be opposed by lefty Kris Bubic, who is 1-4 with a 7.37 ERA and 1.819 WHIP in nine starts this season.
The Rangers are scoring 5.2 runs per game against left-handed starters this season. Texas is 5-0 in its last five road games vs. a left-handed starter. The Rangers are 6-0 in Perez's six road starts. Bet the Rangers Monday.

I'll take my chances with the Rockies as a +175 home dog against the Dodgers in Monday's series opener. This to me is just too good a price to pass up on Colorado. LA is coming off a big 3-game series against the Braves that ended with an extra innings affair last night. Could be tough for them to get up for this game.
Colorado is not a real threat and have lost 5 of their last 6. That stretch was all on the road. Rockies are a different team at home and you got to think they show up with a big effort against the Dodgers.
I also like who Colorado has on the mound. Chad Kuhl is just 4-5 with a 3.95 ERA and 1.434 WHIP in 13 starts, but has posted a very strong 3.29 ERA and 1.207 WHIP in 5 home starts this year. Give me the Rockies +175!
