              Saratoga Picks - Sunday, July 17, 2022

              Race 1: 8-3-4-7
              Race 2: 3-6-5-2
              Race 3: 4-10-3-8

**Most Likely: Fortin Hill #5 (Race 9)**
              **Best Value: I'm Fine #1 (Race 7)**

Most Likely Winner: (Race 9: Fortin Hill #5, 3/1):

By Mucho Macho Man, this Indiana bred and Bill Mott trainee is all-class. A 6-yr-old, he doesn’t have that many races to his credit, but I like this spot because he comes back to Saratoga after a quality start at Belmont in a similar OC80kn3x. I realize he was favored against the likes of Mr. Phil, who won … but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a superb runner that cannot win here. The odds should be right at 3/1 … anything above that is an overlay. I will be watching the tote closely, and with Jose Ortiz back aboard, he should be able to get the job done for his HOF conditioner.

              Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #5

              Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 7: I’m Fine #1, 8/1):

The good folks at Highlander Training Center in Texas own this mare by Blame, and even though she has won only once out of 19 tries, that doesn’t mean she cannot score in this spot. Looking over her form, there is actually much-to-like. Trainer Joe Sharp entered her on 3 occasions at Belmont, and the results were solid. She will be getting a major rider upgrade with Luis Saez, and that could prove decisive. When it comes to the turf, he is aggressive, and ready for action! The price will be right too at 8/1 or maybe even higher.

              Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #1 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 8: Turf, 5

Rocket Picks : Gulfstream Park, Monmouth Park, and Saratoga for July 17, 2022
                By: Aaron Halterman

Let’s finish off the week strongly today! For the free pick 4, we will head to Saratoga for the Late Pick 4 on the card. We will also have full card selections for Gulfstream Park and Monmouth Park for the paid Rockets, so be sure to check those out.

Below is our free late Pick 4 for Saratoga:

                Saratoga July 17, 2022

                Race 7: Allowance

#2 Just Ok Is Not Ok makes her first start as a four year old for a new trainer, which could lead to an improved effort. She is working well leading up to this race. #5 New Ginya was a neck away from winning at this level last time out at Belmont Park. She wheels back in this race today with a big chance to get the job done.

Race 8: Quick Call Stakes (G3)
                freestar

#8 Big Invasion has looked flawless in his last several races and looks ready to fire a big effort in this spot. He has defeated several of the horses entered here with ease. #4 Nobals has won four straight races in impressive fashion, including a solid stakes win over the turf at Churchill Downs in his last start.

                Race 9: Allowance Optional Claiming

#4 Sound Money gets major class relief for this race after taking on Jackies Warrior last time out at Belmont Park. These horses will be more to his liking. #5 Fortin Hill has hit the board in three straight races coming into this race. He continues to improve as he races more after having trouble staying on the race track in previous years.

                Race 10: Maiden Claiming

#5 Our Jessica ran well when running for a tag for a first time last time out, finishing a solid second. She should show improved running at this level again for the second straight race. #4 Inkblot was third at this level last time out, while she has been close at this level in three straight starts.

                THE TICKET

                $.50 Pick 4 (Races 7-10) 1,2,5,9 / 8 / 1,4,5,7 / 4,5,10,12 – $32

Spa selections 2022: Saratoga picks July 17

                  by Joseph Aiello

In Spa Selections, Saratoga on-site correspondent Joseph Aiello provides Saratoga picks for a handful of key races at Saratoga, including all of the exciting stakes action!

                  Race 7 – Alw 95000n1x

                  1. #9 Russiarussiarussia (7-2) – Will likely be over-bet after Chad Brown’s four win day yesterday, but it would be tough to pass up on this one with others having winning difficulties

                  2. #5 New Ginya (5-2) – Some solid efforts in three tries, but might be one that needs the right set up and a mid-pack trip to be a winner here

                  3. #11 Classic Lynne (6-1) – Adds lasix and comes off a long layoff from October, but has a race at this distance that is good enough to beat most of these

                  4. #1 I’m Fine (8-1) – Doesn’t seem like a winning threat, but one that is routinely finishing in the top four and should be a good play to round out exotics

Race 8 – Grade III Quick Call Stakes

                  1. #8 Big Invasion (6-5) – Should get the right set up, and this will come down to Rosario timing his move well and not having this one too far back

                  2. #4 Nobals (9-2) – Has really hit his stride this year, winning all four tries, but may need to contend with more pace pressure and faces his toughest test in a graded stakes

                  3. #6 One Timer (6-1) – Has flashed some real speed and is a real threat to press Nobals or at least sit off of him for a good trip here

                  4. #7 Asymmetric (7-2) – Takes blinkers off which should be a good move in this field, as this one looks to close and could be the beneficiary of a hot pace

                  Race 9 – OC 80000n3x

                  1. #1 Supremacy (5-1) – We’ll try to take down the favorite in this very tough field where almost anyone can win, but this one could get away with the early lead and cuts back in distance

                  2. #4 Sound Money (8-5) – Drops from two graded races where he finished a distant second, but hasn’t had a great performance up on a fast pace so could be challenged here

                  3. #5 Fortin Hill (3-1) – Has been struggling to win and may not be in as good of form as others, but consistently finishes well and can find his way into the money here

                  4. #2 Night Time (6-1) – Seems to run well at Saratoga and should improve greatly after posing no contest to Jackie’s Warrior last time, plus his best races might be slightly better than others

                      The Walker Group Picks

                      # 10 JV ZOOM FLYING GIRL 7/2

                      # 3 JV PAPPAS POCKETBOOK 6/1

                      # 9 SHEZ MORE LETHAL 5/2

JV ZOOM FLYING GIRL has a decent shot to take this race. Had one of the best speed figures of this group of horses in her last race. JV PAPPAS POCKETBOOK - Is tough not to consider based on Equibase Speed Figures which have been competitive - 71 avg - of late. Valenzuela should be able to get this filly to break out sharply in this competition. SHEZ MORE LETHAL - Ran a solid last race. Could provide positive gains based on very good recent speed figures with an average of 70.

                          The Walker Group Picks

                          # 2 DRAGON ON ICE 4/1

                          # 7 SWEET ZULU 3/1

                          # 3 BOY WITH CASH 8/1

I think DRAGON ON ICE is a very strong choice. His 78 average has this gelding with among the best speed figures for this event. Will most likely compete strongly in the early speed clash which bodes well with this field. SWEET ZULU - Looks decent versus this group of horses in this race and should be one of the early speedsters. BOY WITH CASH - Earning some good dough in short events. Has very good Equibase Class Figures relative to this field - worth a look.
