Wednesday's MLB Free Pick: Cubs/Cardinals UNDER 8
I'll take my chances with the UNDER 8 in Tuesday's series opener between the Cubs and Cardinals. Really like the starting pitching matchup we have going in this one. St Louis will send out veteran Adam Wainwright, who has a strong 3.28 ERA and 1.208 WHIP in 20 starts.
Wainwright has been at his best at home this year, posting a 2.01 ERA and 1.080 WHIP in 9 home starts. Wainwright has also owned the Cubs of late. In 4 starts going back to 2020, he's given up just 5 ER over 28 1/3 innings.
Chicago will give the rock to Keegan Thompson, who has really pitched well of late. Thompson has a 2.65 ERA and 1.118 WHIP over his last 3 starts. Give me the UNDER 8! Confidence Rating: 5 (Scale of 1-10)

MLB | Royals vs White Sox

The Chicago White Sox have been one of the most disappointing teams in baseball. They are still hovering around .500 amidst massive expectations. They are without Luis Robert, arguably their best hitter. They were just held to one run yesterday in a loss to the Royals and have been held to 4 runs or fewer in four straight. Brad Keller is probably the best starter the Royals have with his 4.35 ERA in 19 starts this season. Keller has enjoyed plenty of success against the White Sox at 5-5 with a 3.35 ERA in 15 previous starts against them. Lucas Giolito has been a disappointment for the White Sox and should not be this big of a favorite. He is 6-6 with a 5.14 ERA in 18 starts this season, and 2-4 with a 6.28 ERA in seven home starts. Give me the Royals.
Rickenbach Free Pick Tuesday MLB Under 7 in Los Angeles Angels vs Oakland A's @ 9:38 ET - Like the fact Cole Irvin has been enjoying a fantastic stretch on the mound both home and away. Also, Noah Syndergaard so tough at home for the Angels. Regardless of of the starting pitching here, the key is the weakness in these two lineups. Oakland has been scoring a little bit better of late but still is not an imposing lineup by any stretch of the imagination. Additionally, the Angels have struggled so often to score runs as their lineup is just not the same without the bat of Mike Trout. Two of the lowest scoring teams in the majors in a night game on the west coast so the set up is perfect. Especially with the expected starting pitching match-up adding value to this one. UNDER 7 in LA Angels
Dave's Tuesday Free Play:
1* on Oakland A's +114 The Key: I like the price we are getting on the Oakland A's tonight over the Los Angeles Angels with their edge on the rubber in this one. Cole Irvin is 6-7 with a 2.96 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 18 starts for the A's this year. Irvin sports a 2.92 ERA in 6 lifetime starts against the Angels. Noah Syndergaard is 5-8 with a 3.82 ERA in 15 starts this year for Los Angeles. The A's are 7-3 in their last 10 games overall with 6 upset wins as underdogs. The Angels are 16-42 in their last 58 games overall. The A's are 10-4 in their last 14 matchups in Los Angeles. Take Oakland.
#979 ASA PLAY ON Oakland A’s +110 over LA Angels, Tuesday at 9:35 PM ET - Oakland has been playing solid baseball as of late and they have their top starter on the mound tonight. The A’s have won 7 of their 10 games since the All Star break including a 3 game sweep of the A.L. West division leading Astros. Over that 10 game span are averaging over 5 RPG and they have a run differential of more than +1 RPG. Lefty Cole Irvin gets the call tonight for Oakland and he has allowed 2 ER’s or fewer in 5 straight starts. The A’s have won 4 of Irvin’s last 5 starts including wins over Houston (twice) and red hot Toronto and his ERA in July was a miniscule 1.85. He should have his way vs an Angel offense that has been flat out bad as of late. LA is averaging just 3.5 RPG over their last 10 and vs lefties during that stretch they are putting up barely 2 RPG while hitting .170. For the season, LA is averaging just 3.2 RPG vs left handers which is a full RPG less than they average vs right handed pitching. The Angels send Syndergaard to the mound who has been OK this season but far from his dominating past self. He’s allowed at least 3 ER’s in 3 of his last 5 starts and his velocity and strike out rate are way down this season. Since coming back from Tommy John surgery Syndergaard has an ERA of almost 4.00 so he has fallen off. LA has actually lost 7 of his last 8 starts dating back to late May. We’ll take the team that is playing much better baseball with the better pitcher as an underdog here.
Jack's Free Pick Tuesday: Los Angeles Dodgers -135
The Los Angeles Dodgers should be bigger favorites over the San Francisco Giants tonight. The Dodgers have won five straight meetings with the Giants, who are now below .500 on the season and basically out of contention after going 3-9 in their last 12 games overall.
The Dodgers have a big advantage on the mound with Tyler Anderson, who is 10-1 with a 2.64 ERA and 1.016 WHIP in 17 starts this season. He has been untouchable of late, going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in his last three starts while pitching 19 innings without allowing a single earned run.
Anderson pitched 6 innings without allowing an earned run in a 5-1 victory in his lone start against San Francisco this season. He'll be opposed by Alex Wood, who is 7-8 with a 4.11 ERA and 1.212 WHIP In 20 starts this season for the Giants.
The Dodgers are 13-3 in Anderson's last 16 starts after giving up one earned run or fewer in his last start. Los Angeles is 8-1 in its last nine road games. The Giants are 0-8 in their last eight vs. NL West opponents. Bet the Dodgers Tuesday.
