The Cleveland Guardians have taken over 1st place in the AL Central with a 60-53 record. They lead the Minnesota Twins by 1.5-games. The Guardians saw their six-game win streak snapped on Saturday by the Blue Jays, 1-2. Shane Bieber will start today for the Guardians with a 7-6 record and 3.28 ERA. Beiber has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last three starts. The Toronto Blue Jays won't win the AL East, but they are in the thick of it for one of three AL Wild Card slots. The Jays currently hold the top Wild Card spot, a half game ahead of Seattle, two games over Tampa Bay and three teams within four games. Kevin Gausman will start today for the Jays with a 8-8 record and 2.91 ERA. He's been slightly better of late with a 3-2 record in his last seven starts and a 2.33 ERA. Gausman has not allowed a run over his last two starts (14 innings) with 15 KO's and just one walk. Your free play for Sunday is on the Blue Jays.

The Orioles (+152) are worth a look as a big road dog against the Rays in Sunday's MLB action. Big time value here with Baltimore. Tampa Bay should be favored at home with Drew Rasmussen on the mound, but not by this much. Orioles are playing well and still in the playoff picture. I don't think these two teams get viewed as equals, yet they basically have the exact same record in mid August. Baltimore has a great shot at winning this game and at this price you can't pass it up. Play the Orioles +152!

These are two rebuilding teams. But the Cubs have the better talent, hold a pitching edge in this matchup and draw the Reds at low ebb once again. Cincinnati is 3-7 in its last 10 games with five consecutive losses.
Cubs starter Keegan Thompson quietly has been effective. He's 9-5 with a 3.36 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Thompson held the Nationals to one earned run in six innings during his last start.
Cincinnati is giving Justin Dunn another start. He's been limited because of injuries. When he's pitched it hasn't been good. Dunn has a 5.79 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in only 4 2/3 innings. Dunn isn't likely to get much relief as the Reds' bullpen ranks last in the majors in ERA.

I like the Atlanta Braves to win this game against the Miami Marlins on Sunday. The Braves have won 5 games in a row now and they are starting to look really good in their games again. They have cut down the Mets lead in the division to 5.5 games now and I expect them to keep winning games to try and cut down that lead even more. The Braves have already won 3 in a row over the Marlins here and I see them getting the sweep with how well they are playing. The Braves have been putting up a ton of runs in their games with 4+ runs in 5 games in a row now, but the Marlins offense has been very cold lately. The Marlins have played 13 games in a row now without putting up more than 3 runs in a game and I don't see them keeping up with the Braves here. I expect the Braves offense to continue putting up runs in this game while the Marlins continue to struggle here. I like the Braves to win this game.

After a couple pitcher's duels to start this series between the Brewers and Cardinals, look for the bats to come out to play Sunday. These are two vulnerable starting pitchers and two lineups that were hot coming into this series.
Miles Mikolas is coming off his worst start of the season for the Cardinals. He allowed 10 earned runs and 14 hits in 2 2/3 innings of a 16-5 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Mikolas allowed 6 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings to the Brewers in his lone home start against them this season back on May 29th. Milwaukee is scoring 5.0 runs per game against right-handed starters this season.
Aaron Ashby is definitely the weakest link in this Milwaukee rotation. He is 2-8 with a 4.71 ERA and 1.528 WHIP in 15 starts this season, including 1-5 with a 5.11 ERA and 1.750 WHIP in 10 road starts. The Cardinals are scoring 4.7 runs per game overall and 4.8 runs per game against left-handed starters this season.
Milwaukee is 13-2 OVER after scoring 3 runs or fewer in two consecutive games this season. Expect both teams to bust out for 4-plus runs each this afternoon. Bet the OVER in this game Sunday.
