Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Sept. 6
        Dick Powell

Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis by Dick Powell Tuesday 09/06

        Race One

1st: (5) CLAW – beat this level back in June then was beaten 37 lengths in his next five starts when moved up in class. He dropped back down to this claiming level and held well for second and should get a similar trip here with Walber Alencar.

2nd: (4) BELIEVEINHOLIDAYS – showed high speed when stretched out to two turns, then beat this level twice in a row. The last start he showed an ability to rate better, so Pablo Morales has his options early in the race.

3rd: (1) ADIOS BOBBY – came from just off the pace to win going away two starts back, then won again versus conditioned claimers.

        Race Two

1st: (4) CASCADE PARK – was claimed for $20K three starts back and was a good third against open allowance foes in very fast time. The daughter of Medaglia d’Oro came back and won and now drops down in class for trainer Mike Pappada, who wins 29% off the win.

2nd: (5) ISTHATYOURHARLEY – very inconsistent filly won against state-bred allowance foes three starts back then did nothing here behind the top choice. She did nothing on the dirt last out and now drops down in class for Gerry Brooks.

3rd: (3) CANARY – won on the dirt going six furlongs then tired going two turns but she gets leading rider Pablo Morales.

        Race Three

1st: (6) CHARLOTTE THE BRIT – won going six furlongs in good time two starts back here against better horses, then was a game second going a two-turn mile. She drops back down in class and distance for trainer Kevin Rice, who wins 17% going long to short.

2nd: (1) LAWN DART – horse for the course was a sharp winner here in her first start off the claim by Gerry Brooks, then just missed against this class level last out. She draws the rail and has enough gate speed to keep from getting shuffled back.

3rd: (3) TIDAL WATERS – beat males then came back and beat females by seven lengths for Tim Girten.

        Race Four

1st: (5) SWELTER – was a game second going two turns for the first time, then could not keep up last out. The son of Tiznow drops back to a sprint and tries maiden claimers for the first time. Trainer Tim Hamm wins 18% going long to short.

2nd: (6) CITY TRIPPER – flashed good speed for a half-mile in his career debut and drops to maiden claimers for the first time. The son of Majestic City is out of a stakes-winning dam and could be tough here if he can shake loose early.

3rd: (3) TANGO MIKE – another colt that showed good speed in his career debut and now drops down to maiden claimers.

        Race Five

1st: (2) DON’T DARE ME – was a game second in his career debut going this distance in fast time, then was right there in the deep stretch when moved up to this claiming level off the claim by Ed Rojas. Pablo Morales rides back – 29% with Rojas.

2nd: (3) SAMURAI LEGACY – horse for the course dropped down to this claiming level and won in very fast time. He tired badly last out when moved up in class but that was because he behaved badly before the start.

3rd: (7) NOTACATBUTACARD – woke up last out when dropped down to the bottom and he won by almost six lengths.

        Race Six

1st: (5) TWILA MAE – beat similar company three starts back, then missed by a nose coming from off the pace in fast time. She raced evenly last out when moved up in class and now drops back down to Kevin Rice, whose last 403 synthetic starters show a profit.

2nd: (7) AMERICAN GODDESS – had been sprinting but stretched out to two turns two starts back and finished second in fast time behind the top choice. The daughter of American Pharoah raced evenly in a very fast sprint last out.

3rd: (6) GENEVIEVE’S Z VA – went gate to wire against similar two starts back then did it again when dropped down in class.

        Race Seven

1st: (8) ROBBY’S RANSOM – took him eight starts to break his maiden in a turf sprint at Penn National, then came back there with a good second on a sloppy track. He was a good third against open allowance foes back on the turf and now tries Tapeta.

2nd: (10) QPIDSCARIZMATKQTEE – broke her maiden in her well-bet career debut on the dirt at Laurel then came back here two starts later and won her Tapeta debut. Her last dirt start at Parx Racing was terrible so she comes back here where she fits.

3rd: (7) MORE RANSOM – raced evenly in her first three career starts, then woke up to win last out when Lasix and blinkers were added.

        Race Eight

1st: (11) SNAKERATTLEANDROLL – just missed against better company two starts back in his first start off the claim by Ed Rojas, and then dropped down to this claiming level and won by four lengths. Rojas wins 28% first start after a win.

2nd: (10) ALPHA PREDATOR – took him 13 tries to break his maiden but he came right back to win again. After racing poorly, he bounced back with a good second as the beaten favorite against this class level for Tim Hamm.

3rd: (12) LAKE NAKURU – missed by a length two starts back in his Tapeta debut against better company.

Tuesday’s Horse Racing Tips: Goodwood, September 6th
          Stephen Harris Horse Racing Expert

          Today’s Horse Racing Tips – September 6th

There are 5 meetings in Britain and Ireland on Tuesday, with flat turf action dominating from Catterick, Galway, Goodwood and Leicester. The recent rain easing the ground could well complicate matters for punters, with all of the last few summer months form coming on very quick ground across the board. For NH fans there is a low grade card at Hexham to get stuck into, with the action getting underway at 4.17pm and a big crowd likely at the most picturesque jumps track in the country.

          Today’s Daily Nap

          Morando

          Goodwood 3:40 (UK time)

Andrew Balding’s stayer has shaped as though running himself fit in two runs so far this summer, and stepped forward when sixth in a huge field at Haydock last time out. His losing run now stretches back to October 2019 at Ascot, but his mark has now eased to reflect that, and the likely strong gallop up front should set things up ideally for a late charge under Callum Hutchinson.

          Odds: NA
          Today’s Value Angle

          Hashtagmetoo

          Goodwood 1:55 (UK time)

Jamie Osborne’s 5-y-o mare has not won since September 2021, but she has been running well in defeat all summer and shaped well up the inside at Kempton last time out under David Egan. Saffie Osborne is back in the plate this afternoon taking off an invaluable 3lb, and she should go really close with conditions to suit and this mark now well within her capabilities.

          Odds: NA

Odds are best odds available as at 8am September 6th 2022. Odds may now differ.

Scone racing tips & quaddie selections | Tuesday 6/9/2022
            September 5, 2022 9:24 am.

Where Scone Racing Club – Bunnan Rd, Scone NSW 2337

Scone will play host to seven races on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst has found a couple of best bets and a quaddie for the day. The track is rated a Heavy 9 and the rail is in the true position for the entire course, with the meeting set to get underway at 1:20pm AEST.
Best Bet at Scone – Casino Lord

Maybe Casino Lord is an exception because he is yet to win on the wet despite being by Casino Prince, but we are confident he can buck that trend on Tuesday when he steps out in a 1000m scamper. The five-year-old is ultra-consistent, finishing in the first three past the post in eight of his 13 career starts. When resuming back in June, the Cody Morgan-trained gelding charged late to just miss over 1000m, before not having a great deal of luck in his second-up run in late July at Tamworth. Now about six weeks between runs and back significantly in grade, Casino Lord should be going close to winning under Bailey Wheeler.
            Best Bet

            Race 6 – Silk #1 Casino Lord (8)

            5yo Gelding | T: Cody Morgan | J: Bailey Wheeler (a1.5)(61kg)

            $3.40 with Ladbrokes
Next Best at Scone – Russian Standard

Cody Morgan looks in for a good afternoon at Scone, and we are confident he can open his account early on in the day when the odds-on favourite Russian Standard steps out in the third. The four-year-old gelding is yet to win from six starts, but four minor placings – including a 0.23-length defeat last time out – should set him up nicely to win in his second run for the preparation. The son of Capitalist has placed three times on rain-affected tracks, so the Heavy 9 shouldn’t be too uncomfortable for him, while barrier two will allow Matthew Palmer to hold a positive position in the run. This is his race to lose.
            Next Best

            Race 3 – Silk #8 Russian Standard (2)

            4yo Gelding | T: Cody Morgan | J: Matthew Palmer (59kg)

            $1.85 with Palmerbet
Best Value at Scone – Lovemetender

John Ramsey’s mare Lovemetender is the clear class of the field in the last race of the day. She has run fairly in a number of Group races, including a five-length defeat in the 2021 Group 1 Flight Stakes. The four-year-old by Testa Rossa hasn’t won since her maiden victory, but she should be really fit coming into this second-up assignment after a good trial between her first-up run and this. With apprentice hoop Chelsea Hiller claiming 4kg, Lovemetender should be able to get the job done in a race like this with 56.5kg on her back.
            Best Value

            Race 7 – Silk #1 Lovemetender (10)

            4yo Mare | T: John Ramsey | J: Chelsea Hiller (a4)(60.5kg)

            $12 with Neds

                #4 HALF LEGEND (ML=7/2)

WHAT'S SO FUNNY - Filly is a few starts into a return to racing here. Should give a big race today. Lets try to beat the low-odds horses with this filly. Just missed last out, but ran a pretty decent race. Forgive the off the board finish on the off track last time out. Under normal track conditions, has a good shot in today's race. HALF LEGEND - When a thoroughbred finishes in the money as often as this filly does, you will usually want to use her in your exotic wagers. I like that most recent race on Aug 22nd at Thistledown where she ended up third. When a horse drops at least five pounds (like this one is), you must take notice. It may not seem like much, but could make the difference.

                Vulnerable Contenders: #5 PLAYFUL SUMMER (ML=5/2), #2 VOODOOISM (ML=3/1), #3 AWESOME WONDER (ML=6/1),

PLAYFUL SUMMER - The finish of eighth in the last event shows me that this animal may be losing physical conditioning. Notched a pedestrian speed fig in the last race in a $12,500 Claiming race on August 17th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that rating. VOODOOISM - Difficult to put your dough on the win end of any thoroughbred that finishes second and third as frequently as this horse does. AWESOME WONDER - No picnic to bet on this pony in today's event. Make her show you something in a sprint contest before you play her in a race of 6 furlongs. I'd like to see more conducive recent efforts with oddsmaker's morning line of 6/1.

                STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Bet on #6 WHAT'S SO FUNNY to win if you can get at least 5/2 odds

My choice for this event is GINNY B. Could best this group based on the Equibase Speed Figure - 72 - of her last race. The average Equibase class figure alone makes this one a solid choice. Could best this group here, showing strong figs of late. GOLD INCLUDED - She should have a good showing versus this less demanding field. Has to be given a shot - I like the figures from the last contest. TOTAL MALICE - Could best this group here, showing competitive figures of late. Reason to like this filly as she has in the irons one of the best jocks using winning percentages over the last month.

                      #11
Handicapped by The Turf Club Analysts

                      Mountaineer Park - Race #1 - Post: 7:00pm - Allowance - 7.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $21,200 Class Rating: 86

                      Rating:

                      #4 LIGHTNING JACK (ML=6/1)
                      #2 GOTTSACKER (ML=5/1)
                      #6 PRINCE AMADEUS (ML=9/2)
                      #7 CASK (ML=12/1)
                      #5 THE BLACK STRAT (ML=6/1)

LIGHTNING JACK - This gelding is in excellent condition right now. Finished third in the last race and comes back quickly. Have to like the way Kocijan has raced this gelding back into shape off the layoff. Animal is well spotted in this sprint and I think he'll run well today. GOTTSACKER - Comparing how the horses in this field have fared under similar conditions, I see this animal has the highest Equibase speed figure for the distance-surface. Look for this one to go wire to wire at some respectable odds in this race. Ran sixth in last race, but not more than 5 from the lead at the wire. PRINCE AMADEUS - Have to give this gelding a chance. Ran a solid race last out within the last 30 days. CASK - That last effort must not have been too hard on this gelding for him to be able to race again so quickly. Always be careful of the longer priced horse when a trainer has an 'uncoupled' entry in a race. THE BLACK STRAT - When I handicap a grass race, I think sometimes class ratings are more important than speed figs. This horse has the highest average class in the entire field. This gelding likes to be near the lead. Today's event is a shorter trip and should enhance his likelihood of winning. Vitali is good with horses moving to the turf for the first time. You have to figure this gelding is going to be in contention in this race. Ranked number one in EPS (earnings per start). Another confirmation that this horse has class.

                      Vulnerable Contenders: #1 POLITICAL RIOT (ML=3/1), #9 OUT WORK'N (ML=6/1), #8 TRIGZ TOO (ML=6/1),

POLITICAL RIOT - This chalk horse may be out of form without any recent morning activity. OUT WORK'N - Most of the time I need a sprinter to have some recent success in short distance affairs in order to wager on him. You always think this equine has a shot to be victorious, but he comes up short often. Somewhat easily forgotten speed figure last out at Belterra Park at 1 mile 70 yards. Don't think this runner will improve too much in today's event. TRIGZ TOO - Racer ran a great speed fig last time out, but that was in the slop.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Have to go with #4 LIGHTNING JACK on the win end if we get at least 6/1 odds
                      EXACTA WAGERS: Box [4,7]

                      TRIFECTA WAGERS:
