One of the most pleasant surprises in the SEC and, furthermore, overall in college football this season has been the play of Mississippi State. They trampled through their nonconference schedule, winning and covering both contests against the likes of Memphis and Arizona. The Bulldogs were favorites in both games and had no problem covering point spreads of -17 and -13. In their season opener, LSU was supposed to take down Florida State.

However, lost a squeaker, 24-23, as a four-point favorite. Last week they needed a confidence builder devouring Southern 65-17. But I think we would all agree they are stepping up in class here today. Once again, this season, Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers is making headlines. He picked up where he left off last season. In 2021/2022, the gunslinger passed for over 4,449 yards, with a 75.1% completion rate, tallying over 35 TDs and only eight INTs. Already in the 2022/2023 campaign, he has gashed defenses for 763 yards passing, on a 78.6% completion rate, nine TDs, and only two INTs. He currently leads the nation in completions per game, is tied for second in passing touchdowns, and third in average passing yards. One thing he has this season is an arsenal of receivers.

Already six different wideouts have caught TD passes. Dillon Johnson is proving to be a very capable running back. Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels is also making some news. He’s putting up some impressive numbers. But there is no question he will be outshined by his counterpart here. The one thing that he does offer is the fact that he’s a dual threat. He could also run the ball pretty well. But the Bulldog's front seven are playing extremely tough against the rush. And you could look for the LSU backfield to have a much tougher time here in this matchup than they’ve experienced the last few weeks.

They are expected to see the return of John Emery Jr., But the RB hasn’t played since the end of the 2020 season because of academic issues. He will be rusty for sure. And he certainly hasn’t had to line up in a game against a defense playing as tough against the run as Mississippi State is right now. As we all know, the SEC is one of the toughest and most competitive conferences in the nation. And I’m not saying the Bulldogs are going to win the SEC. But what I am saying is that to us bettors, they are money. Mississippi State is 5-1 ATS the last six on grass, 5-1 ATS the last six following an ATS win, 5-1 ATS the last six on the road, 4-1 ATS the last five conference games, and 7-2 ATS the last nine overall.

The one thing LSU has problems with his back-to-back solid performances. Particularly against the spread. They have not covered b-2-b outings in a year. This line here should be at least several points higher.

I’ll take the Bulldogs to take a bite out of the Tigers.

I like the Miami Florida Hurricanes to win this game against the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday. Everyone is going to be all over the Aggies in this one after getting upset last week against Appalachian State. There's no way they can be upset again, can they? Well, this Miami FL team is really good. And when I say really good, I mean really really good. Miami comes into this game 2-0. Although both of their first two matchups were a significant mismatch, the Hurricanes look like they are back and ready to make some noise this season. QB Tyler Van Dyke is someone that all eyes should be on here in this game. He can make some huge plays and make them look easy when they really aren't. Also, watch out for WR Xavier Restrepo, who is very reliable, with 199 yards through the first two games. For A&M, they were the buzz of the offseason after their ridiculous recruiting class. Their only problem is that they've got a battle for the QB position, and they are extremely young. I expect the Hurricanes to upset this Aggies team on the road here on Saturday. Even though I personally wouldn't consider it an upset.
