Belmont at the Big A Horses in Focus for Friday, September 16
              by David Aragona

              RACE 1: QUICK HAMMER (#6)

Unknown Agenda (#3) figures to attract support in his debut for the Todd Pletcher barn. This $100k yearling purchase is by 15% juvenile debut sire Munnings. The dam was unraced and this is her first foal to start. This is hardly the classiest female family, but the horse has been working well. He has looked best in company with another unraced stablemate in his recent drills, and appears to have some speed. He looks pretty well suited to debuting at this 6-furlong distance for a barn that knows how to win with these types. Yet I prefer a different firster from another powerful stable. Quick Hammer (#6) debuts for Brad Cox, who has been having a solid season with his 2-year-olds. He debuted some live runners in the last couple of weeks of the Saratoga meet, and appears to have another good one here. This $200k yearling purchase only sold for $100k at the Fasig-Tipton Timonium sale this year after working a furlong in 10 1/5. Mor Spirit is 5 for 30 with debut runners in his first crop, and this colt is a half-brother G1 La Brea winner Kalypso. The dam is also a full-sister to G2 Tampa Bay Derby winner Prospective. He worked competitively with debut runner-up Tapit’s Conquest in late July, and then was best from the gate with an unraced mate on Sep. 3. He appears to have some talent. I prefer these to the experienced Space (#5), who exits a race of dubious quality, and Signator (#4), an expensive auction purchase who looks like he might need a start.

              RACE 4: GLITTER UP (#6)

Tattersalls purchase Expand the Map (#4) has obviously been a disappointment on the racetrack. She was heavily favored over eventual BC winner Pizza Bianca in her debut last summer, but was forced to settle for second after making a wide run on the far turn. She appeared to have that return race gift-wrapped for her this spring at Aqueduct, but shortened stride in the final eighth despite getting away with moderate fractions. Chad Brown is 7 for 19 (37%, $2.65 ROI) with maidens going from routes to sprints on turf over 5 years. She looks like the horse to beat, but I’m not too keen on swallowing another short price on her. I prefer Glitter Up (#6), who is finally concentrating on turf races, as her two grass races are clearly the best efforts of her career. She finally got back on this surface last time after just missing in her turf debut as a 2-year-old. She was no match for winner Mrs. Green last month, but battled on gamely to just miss second after setting a pressured pace. Now she takes the blinkers off, but still looks like the speed. She has the credentials to break through at this level and figures to be a much better price than her main rival. The other runner who interests me a bit is first time starter Wish List (#8). I really like Astern as a sire of turf sprinters, and she has plenty of pedigree for these conditions on the dam’s side. All four of this dam’s foals to race are winners, and two of them won on grass. Second dam Superstar Leo was a top turf sprinter in Europe, finishing second in the G1 Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp. John Terranova typically does better with experienced runners, but he has sent out some big prices to win their debuts on the turf over the years.

              RACE 8: FONTANAFREDDA (#6)

I’m against some horses who could take money in this spot, particularly Jill’s a Hot Mess (#2) and Kokopelli (#9). The former benefited from a great pace setup when she was second at this level last time, whereas the latter just hasn’t really panned out since getting fantastic trips to win the first two starts of her career. I think there are others that are far more appealing, possibly at better prices. My top pick is Fontanafredda (#6). This filly was much the best when she won her N1X condition at Saratoga two back, overcoming an extremely wide trip to get the job done. While she crossed the wire fourth in her first start against winners, she was arguably best again that day. She got taken up soon after the start, and then was again forced to race wide. She was 3-wide early on the turn, and pushed out to race 4-wide approaching the stretch, losing significant ground in a race dominated on the front end. Things then got even worse when she was pushed out in the stretch, for which a rival was disqualified. She’s subtly shown significant improvement in recent starts, and I think she’s actually the horse to beat in this spot. Social Whirl (#5) should appreciate the slight cutback to 6 furlongs after fading in her last start going seven-eighths. She was forced to miss the Saratoga meet, but was in decent form prior to that and just seems like a logical fit here. The other runners that I want to use are Shesawildjoker (#3), who was compromised by a slow pace when unwisely rated last time, and Towering Orbit (#4), who showed affinity for grass against weaker last time but has to break more alertly after having gate issues in most of her recent starts.

Pimlico Late Pick 4 Analysis Friday, September 16, 2022

                  by Frank Carulli

Pimlico’s Late Pick 4 this Friday encompasses a 5F turf sprint, a 6F maiden claiming race and a pair of long-distance starter allowances, one on the main track and one on the grass. A total of 37 runners are entered in the sequence, so the 50-cent wager is worth playing. Here’s a look at the action:

PIM 6th race (3:11 EST) -- BLAZING STAR could return a quick claim dividend off of her turf sprint form at Saratoga. She chased mid-70 Beyer types Nota Bene and Tuscan Queen two starts back, then ran third as the favorite behind Train To Artemis, who came back to open a 6-length lead and win again with an 84 Beyer. She is today’s solo play.

PIM 7th race (3:43 EST) -- LADDIE LIAM stepped up in class off the re-claim by McMahon, accelerated into the final turn, and held safe a commanding stretch lead for his fourth runaway victory in his last seven route attempts. COLONEL MOREHEAD finished 4-1/2 lengths behind the top one in his repeat attempt, now gets more ground to try and turn the tables. WENTZ was hounded by the 7-5 favorite but prevailed for his first win this year. He can make good use of his speed in this field and is coupled in the wagering with THORNY TALE, who also has speed and is seeking a repeat victory.

PIM 8th race (4:16 EST) -- Seven of the 11 entrants in this one-mile starter allowance on the turf posted Beyer speed figures of 67 to 69 last out. Those same seven runners have combined for 33 wins on the lawn, mandating an ‘ALL’ punch in this leg of the Pick 4.

PIM 9th race (4:49 EST) – SMART EULEE pressed and prompted the pace at 7F before tiring in a pair of Maiden Special Weight races won by a 1-to-5 Belmont shipper and an 8-to-5 first-time starter. She is strictly the one to beat on the cutback to 6F and the drop into a maiden claimer. FISHERS was ping-ponged around at the start, appeared to be tiring after a backstretch duel, then re-rallied for second behind the trip-sitting winner. She worked a :47.4 bullet since the claim.

                  Suggested 50-cent Ticket
                  PIM 6th Race: 9
                  PIM 7th Race: 1, 3, 4
                  PIM 8th Race: ALL
                  PIM 9th Race: 1, 2
                  COST: $33

Rocket Picks : Belmont at the Big A, Gulfstream Park and Churchill Downs for September 16, 2022
                    By: Aaron Halterman

Let’s kick off another awesome Friday of racing! For the free pick 4, we will head to Belmont at the Big A for the Late Pick 4 on the card. We will also have full card selections for Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park for the paid Rockets, so be sure to check those out. Let’s GO!

Below is our free late Pick 4 for Belmont at the Big A:

Belmont at the Big A September 16, 2022

                    Race 6: Allowance Optional Claiming

#5 Betsy Blue was a six length winner at this class level last time out at Saratoga. A repeat performance will make her tough to beat today. #4 Piece of My Heart was third behind a horse that went on to be a Grade 1 winner in her next start last time out. She can compete with our top choice.

                    Race 7: Claiming
                    freestar

#3 Dust Devil runs first off of the claim for Noda, which usually leads to an improved race. He also moves up slightly in class, which is a good sign. #2 Chris and Dave runs first off of the claim for Atras, who usually gets a horse to improve. Look for this horse to run much better today.

                    Race 8: Allowance Optional Claiming

#5 Social Whirl runs third off of the layoff in this spot, which should mean she will show up with a top effort. She has been competitive with similar runners in her last two starts. #2 Jills a Hot Mess has run second in two straight starts against similar horses at Saratoga.

                    Race 9: Claiming

#5 Street Culture gets back to the dirt for this race, while taking a big class drop, which should help his chances. #7 Power Agenda will also take a drop in class, while running for a new barn today. It is important to note that Luis Saez will run through the barn change, which is a good sign.

                    THE TICKET

                    $.50 Pick 4 (Races 6-9) 5 / 2,3,5,7 / 2,5,8,9 / 3,5,6,7 – $32

Busan Friday: Race-By-Race Preview (September 16)

Racing is back. After a one-week hiatus, the action kicks off again at Busan on Friday where there are eight races from 12:50 to 18:00. Here are the previews:

                      Busan’s Back.

                      Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

Racing gets back underway with a field of maiden juvenile fillies with all but two racing for the very first time. The experience is favoured. (5) GREAT MISS won a trial before debuting on August 7th when she settled midfield and then ran on strongly for 2nd place, well beaten by a good winner but also herself well clear of the 3rd placed finisher. The time was good, and she won’t need to improve much to win here. Pick of the first timers looks to be (3) FLYING TOUCH. He improved significantly in the second of two trials, running a solid 2nd to the experienced Seobu Cat in a fair time. If he brings that for to the races, he’ll go close. (2) CUQUEMAN should have come on for his debut on August 21st when he drew the widest gate but ran solidly for 5th. (12) BLUE ICON, who beat Cuqueman in a trial, and (11) JANGSAN DEFI are other debut-makers who can impress.
Selections (5) Great Miss (3) Flying Touch (2) Cuqueman (12) Blue Icon
                      Next Best 11, 7
                      Fast Start 3, 4, 5, 11

                      Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

We all love Hansen and (4) I LOVE HANSEN will be favoured to score here. After an inauspicious debut, he improved at start number two at this distance on August 21st, sitting handy and running on for 3rd in a fair time. If he continues to improve here, then he is the one to beat. (6) VICTOR BASIUM put in a couple of encouraging front-running performances six months apart back in 2021. He reappears here for the first time since last November but comes in having been through two trials in mid-August and earlier this month, running good times in both and on the front both times. He can go well first-up here. (7) SPECIAL HERO has shown improvement across her three starts so far and ran 4th to I Love Hansen’s 3rd over this distance on August 21st. That was her first race since February, and she was ridden further forward than in her previous two. She’ll be close to the pace again and is a chance. (2) TEUKGEUP CAMP and (1) EURO STAR others in the hunt.
Selections (4) I Love Hansen (6) Victor Basium (7) Special Hero (2) Teukgeup Camp
                      Next Best 1, 9
                      Fast Start 2, 4, 6, 9

                      Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

It’s hard to look too far past (4) ADELE FLY here. He comes in off his best finish to date when 2nd over this distance on August 19th with a couple of today’s rivals behind him. He has the fastest time for the 1400M among these and today he can go one better. The logical main danger is (3) ILGANG DAERO. He steps up in trip for the first time following three solid showings over 1000M which yielded finishes between 3rd and 5th. He comes up a bit in the weights but finished off those races well and today may suit. (2) STAR MATTA has three top-five finishes, one of them at this distance. He comes in off a solid 4th over 1200M last time out and should be aiming to crack the top-three today. (8) CHONGAL CHARM and (6) NAREUCAT others to look out for.
Selections (4) Adele Fly (3) Ilgang Daero (2) Star Matta (8) Chongal Charm
                      Next Best 6, 7
                      Fast Start 3, 4, 5, 8

                      Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

A big field here but (1) O.K. THUNDER will be a warm favourite. He has four top-four finished from five starts so far including a good runner-up finish in a fast time at this distance. From the inside gate, Franco Da Silva should be able to pick his spot, and he can be running on strong at the finish here. (8) WIND CROSS is yet to win in eight attempts, but the colt has only missed out on top-four on one occasion. He comes in off a good 2nd place at this class over 1300M on August 7th when he overcame gate eleven and he should be right in this again. (4) GOLD TAP has run fairly in three attempts at this class following his maiden win. He carries his fair share of weight here but can be in the finish. (11) DOCTOR KONGSUNI is another who has mixed his form, but he can be running on from wide here. (6) KING BOSS another in the placing frame.
Selections (1) O.K. Thunder (8) Wind Cross (4) Gold Tap (11) Doctor Kongsuni
                      Next Best 6, 3
                      Fast Start 6, 7, 8, 11

                      Busan Race 5: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

                      (3) JEONGDEUN-RO enters with recent form reading well, posting good times at this level in competitive races. She draws very nicely here and with there not being much speed in this race, could potentially get to the front and go all the way. (7) GEUMA UNO is yet to win in four starts but comes up in class following back-to-back runner-up finishes over 1200M and 1300M. He’ll be on pace here and the trainer/jockey combination means that he will almost certainly start as the betting favourite. (12) JOSEPHINE QUEEN had a luckless day at the office at this class and distance on August 6th. Her previous form was good though and while the draw does her no favours here, she can be given another chance. (9) FRIGATE BIRD races for the first time since April but looked well when winning a trial, albeit back at the end of July. (6) MY STAR another who can enter the calculations.
                      Selections (3) Jeongdeun-Ro (7) Geuma Uno (12) Josephine Queen (9) Frigate Bird
                      Next Best 6, 8
                      Fast Start 3, 7, 8, 12

                      Busan Race 6: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

                      (9) JEONGMUN DRAGON gets the nod here based on his class and distance win on August 19th, when he settled back, before gradually improving and running on to win emphatically. He comes up 5kg for that performance (it would be 6kg were it not for an apprentice claiming 1kg) but he looks to have the potential to strike again. (7) B.K. HANA ran 3rd in that race, her first try at this class following a solid class 5 win over 1300M in July. She meets Jeongmun Dragon much better int the weights today and can get closer. (3) COLORFUL WIND also comes in having won at class and distance at his latest start. He wasn’t quite as impressive as Jeongmun Dragon but doesn’t come up so much in the weights either and he can be in contention here. (5) GLORY KING and (11) ALPHA SONGDANG among others who shouldn’t be discounted.
Selections (9) Jeongmun Dragon (7) B.K. Hana (3) Colorful Wind (5) Glory King
                      Next Best 11, 8
                      Fast Start 3, 5, 10, 11

                      Busan Race 7: Class 4 (1600M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

                      (9) BABEL DREAMER enters off very solid recent form and has finished ahead of plenty of today’s rivals. He comes up 3kg on his latest at class and distance on August 19th, but an apprentice jockey takes the edge off and while he isn’t the flashiest of performers, he can grind away and that might be enough to see him home here. (7) K K WON is another who doesn’t exactly win out of turn but looks to be nicely in here. He enters off a runner-up finish at class and distance on August 6th when handy throughout and while he too comes up a little in the weights, he can be very competitive. (6) DAEJI SPECIAL comes up in class following a win over 1300M at class 5 level last time out. He is up in trip too but should be equal to both challengers. (5) WINNER’S TIME and (2) TRAFFIC MARINE others in the hunt for the minors.
                      Selections (9) Babel Dreamer (7) K K Won (6) Daeji Special (5) Winner’s Time
                      Next Best 2, 1
                      Fast Start 1, 4, 6, 7

                      Busan Race 8: Class 3 (1800M) Allowance / KRW 75 Million

Good race to conclude. (4) DONGTEUJA BOY comes up in trip and also significantly in weight on his win at this class over a mile on August 21st. He has ten top-three finishes from twelve starts so far and should be able to contend with the additional furlong today. (5) ORANGE GARAGE comes up in class following three consecutive runner-up finishes over this distance at class 4 level. He comes down in the weights today and can measure up. (7) ALIVE CAPTAIN ran 2nd to Dongteuja Boy over the mise on August 21st. He too comes up in the weights but can be in the finish again. (3) YEONGCHEON SOLEMIO and (9) GALAXY ROAD are among plenty of others who have a shot at getting a place.
Selections (4) Dongteuja Boy (5) Orange Garage (7) Alive Captain (3) Yeongcheon Solemio
                      Next Best 9, 6

Neil Morrice shares his best bets and tips for Friday’s racing coming your way from Newbury, Ayr and Kempton Park on 16 September 2022.

                        by Neil Morrice

                        NEWBURY
                        Race 2 No10 SKYSAIL
Trainer: Marcus Tregoning – Jockey: Dougie Costello

SKYSAIL has the points on the board for a race that’s certain to see money directed towards several in the field. In his favour is that in chasing home Wyoming at Windsor he was green and looked like the outing would do him the power of good. The Tasleet colt looks to have most to fear from Paspaley, who also put in an eye-taking first effort when third at Newcastle.
                        Race 3 No8 PEONY
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Tom Marquand

Skysail will give a pointer towards Wyoming in this but the one that appeals most is PEONY, who though drifting in the market showed with her second to Eximious at Salisbury that she’s a filly with a bright future. The daughter of Churchill should come on in leaps and bounds to cause Wyoming and another previous winner Crystallium plenty of problems.
                        Race 5 No2 HIGHBANK (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: Ryan Moore

This race has thrown up some seriously good horses over the years, including the imperious Shergar. There’s not one of his ilk in the renewal but HIGHBANK takes the best form to post and could emerge as one of Godolphin’s best juvenile colts. He made a hack out of the useful Bold Act on debut at Newmarket, and the form has been given a subsequent double boost. Moore is a fascinating booking for the son of Kingman, who is confidently expected to win.
                        Race 6 No5 SACRED
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

SACRED skipped an opportunity at Doncaster last week and now finds herself downgraded at a track where she posted her best performance last year, when dotting up in the Hungerford Stakes. While failing to cut the mustard in her three 2022 outings, she’s looked more assured in her recent work, and if indeed back on song can outclass her foes.
                        Race 7 No2 SAM COOKE
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Ron Hornby

Cut in the ground helps bring out the best in SAM COOKE, as was the case when the six-year-old opened his account for the season at Newmarket. He landed some good bets when holding HMS President by a neck, and the form was endorsed when the second narrowly failed to go one better at Doncaster on Leger day. His biggest challenge may emerge from Wandering Rocks, who receives lumps of weight and needs to be backed as a saver.
Race 8 No8 VEE SIGHT (Each Way)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rob Hornby

VEE SIGHT had a leg in every county when finishing fourth to Warren Point on ground that was too quick for him at Goodwood. From a bad draw, he then ran a cracker to take home a cheque in Protagonist’s race at Sandown. With just three outings under his belt this season there should be more to come from a horse that has ‘Cambridgeshire’ written all over him.
                        AYR
Race 3 No11 MISS ATTITUDE (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Connor Beasley

The first-day highlight of Ayr’s Western meeting can see MISS ATTITUDE picking up points. The Cityscape filly has blistering speed – evident in her successes at Sandown and Newbury – and though beaten at the first-named track last time she’s strengthened up in the ensuing month. She won her final gallop for this in stylish fashion and looks in the mood to grab some black type at a fancy price.
Race 5 No9 LITTLE TED (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

LITTLE TED has a good draw one off the rail to assist in getting a stalking position just behind the leaders in this 1600 metres race round a left-handed bend. His latest near miss at Ripon smacked of a horse on the cusp of a return to the winner’s circle, and though this is just as competitive he can achieve it.
Race 6 No2 FROG AND TOAD (Each Way)
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

FROG AND TOAD is often ridden for luck, as was the case for his last win at Thirsk. From a wide draw he will need that, but fresh from an eye-taking effort to trouble the judge at the same track he needs taking seriously, with Albegray another to put into your exotics.
                        KEMPTON PARK
Race 3 No4 ROWDOWN ROZA (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: Charlie Bennett

ROWDOWN ROZA was a shade underwhelming when out of the money in a similar race here earlier in the week but is worth another chance stepped up to seven furlongs and from a good draw from which to claim a handy early position.
                        Race 5 No6 FALESIA BEACH
Trainer: Jonny Portman – Jockey: Rhys Clutterbuck

It was in a weak novice that FALESIA BEACH opened her account at Chepstow, but that authoritative display should act as a confidence lifter for this return to handicap company. She finds it hard not to take home a cheque of some kind, and the same should ring true today.
Race 2 No2 MILLTOWN STAR (Nap)
Trainer: Jamie Osborne – Jockey: Saffie Osborne

MILLTOWN STAR had very good form as a juvenile, and though encountering training issues showed he was on the way back with a pleasing run behind Sly Madam at Epsom. He seems to have settled in with his new trainer and remains a well-handicapped horse.
                        Race 8 No9 ROSE CAMIRA
Trainer: Chris Wall – Jockey: Neil Callan

Lightly-raced Camelot filly ROSE CAMIRA has attracted support on both handicap outings and is now in a position to make it third time lucky. Her trainer excels with this type of individual, who can show be opening her account that the money that went west on her is merely lent.

It is Gold Cup Day this Friday at Newcastle, where a competitive eight-race program is scheduled to kick off at 1pm AEST. Headlined by the Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup, alongside the Group 3 Cameron Handicap and Group 3 Tibbie Stakes, it sets us up perfectly for a weekend of Group 1 racing. With recent rain in the Hunter, the track has come up a Soft 7, while the rail returns to the true position.
Newcastle Gold Cup Top Tip – Mankayan

The Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup (2300m) is the featured event on Friday afternoon and having strung together three wins from his four starts this campaign, Mankayan looks the one to beat. The six-year-old gelding from the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace yard managed to beat Smokin’ Romans and Irish Flame at Moonee Valley last time out in a race that is no harder than this one. From barrier four, Ben Melham (who travels for this one ride) should look to have this guy settled up on pace throughout, if not lead the field up in the Cup. If afforded a couple of cheap sectionals, with a near bombproof wet track record, Mankayan should prove too hard to gun down in the 2022 Newcastle Gold Cup.
                          Newcastle Gold Cup

                          Race 6 – Silk #2 Mankayan (4)

                          6yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Ben Melham (59kg)

                          $3.50 with Palmerbet
Cameron Handicap Top Tip – Old Flame

The Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) has attracted a strong field of 12 and we anticipate the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Old Flame can walk away with the majority of the $200,000 on offer. Having gunned down Purple Sector first-up from a spell over 1400m at Rosehill, this son of Invincible Spirit is sure to appreciate the extra 100m he gets here on Friday. With two wins and a minor placing from three starts on soft going, the four-year-old should have no issue with the conditions he faces. Form barrier 12, if Sam Clipperton can have him settled in the first half a dozen with cover, the race looks perfectly set-up for Old Flame to take a sit off a genuine speed, build through the gears and finish over the top of the likes Cross Talk and Purple Sector.
                          Old Flame

                          Race 7 – Silk #9 Old Flame (12)

                          4yo Horse | T: Peter & Paul Snowden | J: Sam Clipperton (54kg)

                          $3.90 with Palmerbet
Tibbie Stakes Top Tip – Hope In Your Heart

Having beaten the smart Frumos at Rosehill second-up from a spell, the Kerry Parker-trained Hope In Your Heart is sure to take some beating at a big price in the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes. Having gained a gun run in transit last time out, the four-year-old mare managed to find clear air at the right time and quickened nicely to get the better of her preferred rival. This is obviously a big step up in class, but with a decent enough form on rain-affected going and already armed with a win third-up from a spell, she presents great value at $13 with online betting sites. As long as she does not get trapped three wide the trip from barrier 10, the Dundeel mare has a nice turn of foot and is sure to take some beating.
                          Tibbie Stakes

Race 8 – Silk #9 Hope In Your Heart (10)

                          4yo Mare | T: Kerry Parker | J: Tim Clark (55kg)

                          $13 with Palmerbet
Best Bet at Newcastle – Ebhaar

We were with the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Ebhaar when she gripped on second-up at the Warwick Farm 1000m on August 31. Having competed in Listed or Group level in all four prior career starts, the I Am Invincible filly appreciated the drop back to BM72 grade in what is sure to be a confidence building win. She travelled three wide up on speed that day and on class alone managed to hold off the likes of Nasturtium and Not Another Reiby. The 900m scamper on Friday looks to be right up her alley and as she showed last time out and at the trials prior to her spring campaign, she is more than capable when it comes to soft ground. From barrier seven, look for Tommy Berry (who sticks on board) to have this girl settled outside the leader throughout. When asked for an effort, Ebhaar should have a bit too much class for this lot.
                          Best Bet

                          Race 4 – Silk #5 Ebhaar (7)

                          3yo Filly | T: Peter & Paul Snowden | J: Tommy Berry (55kg)

                          $2.45 with Ladbrokes
Best Value at Newcastle – Ting Tong

We will be looking to make our mark early on Friday when the Kris Lees-trained Ting Tong steps out in the opening event. The now four-year-old gelding has not been seen since his sixth-placed effort in the Queensland Derby and despite dropping back to the mile first-up, he looks to present great value. With a first-up record of one win and a minor placing from two goes fresh, this son of Epaulette is sure to handle what is in front of him with great aplomb. With Zac Lloyd on board claiming 1.5kg, he goes around with 61kg on his back, which is sure to benefit his chances of running on late. With a few of these wanting to settle up on speed, the race looks perfectly set up for Ting Tong to flash home over the top of his rivals at a nice price with online Bookmakers.

KATALIN was also an acceptor at Caulfield tomorrow but her connections chose this race as the best target. She stepped up into this distance range when she was produced second up last start at Wyong and she did all but win. She can only present race-fitter today.

Her latest effort when she stepped up to tackle this journey (1400m) occurred after a break of twenty-four days. This quicker back-up creates scope for improvement today.

It is Gold Nugget Day out at the Ballarat Turf Club on Friday, and with plenty of rain forecast in the region, the meeting has been transferred to the synthetic track. HorseBetting’s Victorian form expert presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the meeting, which kicks off at 1:30pm AEST.
Gold Nugget Top Tip – My Boy Birmingham

My Boy Birmingham is a deadset superstar on the synthetic and is the one to beat in the Gold Nugget (1500m) worth $100,000. The five-year-old gelding has five wins and two seconds at the track and four of those wins have come here at the 1500m. Outside of Spanish Snitzel, the five-year-old gelding is the only one to have tasted success on synthetic and considering he should gain an uncontested lead, he should prove too hard to gun down. Barrier one is a big plus and with Dean Holland on board looks to the perfect recipe for success. Holland has five wins and three minor placings from nine goes aboard the son of Unencumbered and we expect them to build on that already impressive record in an all-the-way victory for My Boy Birmingham in the Gold Nugget.

Best Bet at Ballarat – Full Blown

Following a strong third-place effort on debut, the Mike Moroney-trained Full Blown comes the Ballarat synthetic 1100m and looks the one to beat in the opener. The three-year-old colt managed to lead the field up at Bendigo on August 25 and was only gunned down late by Wee Neesy and Enuffon. Wee Nessy has since come out and been beaten 1.5 lengths in the Cap D’Antibes Stakes at Flemington to help frank the form. From barrier two, look for Daniel Stackhouse to once again have this bloke leading the field up. With three of his rivals making their debut and the others potentially wanting further, Full Blown has the tactical speed and race fitness on his side. He looks a clear best bet of the day early on in the program.

Next Best at Ballarat – Hurtle

The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Hurtle returns to the Ballarat synthetic, a track he has a strong affiliation at. Having won twice and filled a minor placing at three starts at the track and trip, this four-year-old gelding gets his chance fourth-up from a spell on Friday. The plan from barrier one should be simple for apprentice Celine Gaudray; hold the rail, break their hearts and lead throughout this 1000m BM64 event. Following the claim, he goes around with just 59kg on his back, the same weight he carried when peaking on his run last time out in similar company. If Hurtle is anywhere near his best, he is sure to appreciate the cosy lead and looks a great bank builder at the half-way point in the card.
