      Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 20th September 2022

      by Racing & Sports

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 20.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Warracknabeal and Forbes.

      WARRACKNABEAL: RACE 8 @ 5:00 PM

BEATBOX (1) resumed for the premier barn winning the Maiden as expected. Had been away 422 off a strong effort at Hawkesbury. Has the small claim and fitter is a chance to repeat. GUARANTEED (10) made the placings the latest and is a threat. LUCAMOUR (12) was better the latest and Yendall sticking is a positive. In the mix with the run of the race.
      SELECTIONS: Backing Beatbox.

Racing heads to Warracknabeal Racecourse for the first time since April 30 where an eight-race card is scheduled on Tuesday afternoon. With the short home straight, the track often favours those closer to the speed, but considering the track is rated a Heavy 10, with the rail in the true position, horses with fitness on their side may be the ones to side with. The first race is set to jump at 1:30pm AEST and here are our free Warracknabeal racing tips.

This meeting was originally scheduled for Horsham and has been transferred to Warracknabeal.
        Warracknabeal BEST BET: Justdoit

The Luke Oliver-trained Justdoit finished midfield in a BM64 at Mornington on September 2 in Heavy 9 conditions, but we anticipate the step back into BM58 will help this mare find her way back to the winner’s stall. She chased home La Zucca on that day, who wasn’t disgraced at Caulfield on Saturday and finished two-lengths off Rolling Moss who subsequently ran a nice second at Geelong on September 16. Prior to that Mornington effort, she won her maiden by six-lengths in dominant fashion on a Heavy 10 at Cranbourne and with similar conditions on Tuesday, she is sure to handle what is in front of her at Warracknabeal. From barrier two, Daniel Stackhouse will look to edge her off the rail almost immediately. If he is afford that luxury, this girl has a strong turn of foot and in clear air, should prove too hard to hold out over 1400m.

NEXT BEST AT Warracknabeal: Come Along Jeffrey

Come Along Jeffrey is racing in career best form having won two of his last three starts and has not finished worse than third in four runs this time in. We expect that impressive form to continue when he steps out in the third leg of the quaddie on Tuesday. The five-year-old gelding was aided by a gun run in transit at Wodonga on September 5 and despite needing to lug 61.5kg, managed to launch late to get the bob in on the line. Following Maddie Price’s 4kg claim, he goes around with 59.5kg in a race that is no harder than what he won last time out. He has a win and two minor placings on heavy ground and with $3.20 on offer from online Bookmakers, Come Along Jeffrey simply looks too good for this lot.

        Race 7 – silks#1 Come Along Jeffrey (12)

        5yo Filly | T: Jamie Edwards | J: Maddi Price (a4) (63.5kg)

        $3.20 with Neds
Warracknabeal VALUE BET: Trust In Rose

We will be looking to round out the day on a winning note when the Luke Oliver-trained Trust In Rose looks to bounce back from a poor showing at Wodonga. The five-year-old mare was below her best following a convincing maiden victory the start prior at Cranbourne, but we anticipate she will bounce back in emphatic fashion on Tuesday. She chased home Come Along Jeffrey last time out (who we fancy earlier in previous race), but it was her win on a Heavy 10 on August 17 that has us keen to play. She managed to build through the gears nicely on that occasion and managed to put just over a length on her rivals to show she loves the slop. If it is a day where the track plays fairly, the $9.50 on offer with some online betting sites about Trust In Rose in the last looks a great price to take on.

Louisiana Downs Pick 5 for Tuesday, Sept. 20
            Kevin Kilroy

The second-to-last week of Louisiana Downs offers up another interesting Pick 5. No one hit last Saturday’s sequence. We can be targeted in our structure and focus on pressing our strongest opinions for multiple shares, or we can be aggressive and go for the entire kit and caboodle.

            50-cent Pick 5 = $36
            Race Horses

            2, 4, 6
            Race 3 Dirt 6 Furlongs Clm 5000B 3-year-old fillies

#1 Our Perfect Princess (9-5) looks to stay hot after winning her last, a freshened up effort over a solid field. #3 New Year’s Party has been running well but flying wide in his previous races. A better trip and we should have our winner right here, and her trainer Patrick Mouton has been hot this meet. #4 Salaciousacusation (6-1) showed nice improvement between the first and second starts off the layoff. One more step forward for win #6.
            Race 4 Turf About 1 Mile Clm 7500N4L 3-year-olds & up

#7 Big One (5-2) has been facing tougher at Colonial Downs and the class drop should be more than enough to put him back in the winners circle for trainer Steve Asmussen and jockey Joel Dominguez. By singling in a field where many will be spreading, we can gain some equity and find our prices elsewhere.
            Race 5 Dirt 6 Furlongs Clm 5000N3L 3-year-olds & up

#1 Ry Don’t Lie (2-1) should be gunning to the lead from the get-go in his first start since trainer Rosa Ramirez claimed him back, after previously training him into peak form in his July 11 race. #2 Robtadi Storm (8-1) dueled through the stretch and got the best of next-out winner G’s Storm. We know this one will have his game face on. Maiden-special-weight winner #4 Ghoster (5-2) should have no trouble running well against these, if he can retain his form from the Lone Star n2l he won last out. #6 Freightrainfreeman (5-1) has the top speed figures in the field, though coming on turf, but is more than a little camera shy, winning only two of his 13 in the money efforts.
            Race 6 Turf About 7 1/2 Furlongs OC 12k/N1X 3-year-old & up statebreds

This is the race that justifies getting involved in this sequence. I do not think these morning line odds will hold up, but still, this is a competitive field, and there are two price horses that have every right to run well against this field. #3 Guitar Slim (12-1) will try the turf again, and who’s to say he will like it any better than the previous abysmal performances? Trainer Sarah Delany claims this five-year-old, who has impressed me in the past, and moves him up in class while adding blinkers - a positive signal from a horse whose best can win. #7 Justa Swingin (20-1) looked fantastic when winning his second race after taking the blinkers off. His last effort came going wide on an off the turf sloppy track, so the return to grass should be all this one needs for a monster run.
            Race 7 Dirt 6 Furlongs Clm 5000N3L 3-year-old & up fillies

The old class-dropping, surface-swapping, shortening-up speedball #2 Social Date (8-1) is dangerous in here. I’ll lean on #4 Tay Tay’s Baby (5-2) - trainer Karl Broberg wins with 25% when his horse won while earning a top speed figure in their last race. #6 Leudeal (5-2) raced her best three back, which was the last time she was on the dirt. The turf efforts can be excused, likely not taking the surface, but either way, in each she had trouble getting away form the gate cleanly and in a preferred running position.

Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Sept. 20
                Dick Powell

Dick Powell offers his picks and analysis for the Tuesday racing card at Presque Isle Downs.
                Race One:

1st: #6 EXTRA MEDIUM – changed barns to Mike Rogers two starts back and missed by a head in a wide rally. He came back as the even-money favorite and ran about the same race and now faces them again. Rogers wins 16% with his overall claimers.

2nd: #3 CAPTAIN MAD JACK – horse for the course raced evenly against better two starts back then ran against state-breds last out. He drops down to the bottom for Shelly Radosevich who wins 18% with her overall claiming starters.

3rd: #2 MORETHANSOULTITLE – has yet to win here but has two seconds and three thirds mostly against this level.
                Race Two:

1st: #1 CREATIVE CHOICE – just missed against this class and distance two starts back then ran well again last out. He should work out another inside trip from the rail with Mike Allen and it would not surprise if Allen hustles him to the front.

2nd: #5 OLE G MAN – stretched out to two turns for the first time and went gate to wire to break his maiden by four lengths. Cathy Rosantz wins 17% with her overall claimers and the last 92 show a healthy flat-bet profit.

3rd: #3 STUDYLONGSTDYWRONG – had been racing evenly in sprints then ran well last out going a two-turn mile.
                Race Three:

1st: #2 SLENDER BETSY – still a maiden after 10 tries but since adding blinkers, she ran well against state-bred male maidens with a second and third. Kevin Rice wins 16% with his synthetic-track starters and the last 419 show a flat-bet profit.

2nd: #6 AEGONTHECONQUEROR – speedball has improved in each of his three career starts. He was a good second last out in fast time and moves back up to a class level that he was third against two starts back off a long layoff.

3rd: #5 GOLDBAR – first-time starter from Mike Stidham has been training well on the Tapeta at Fair Hill.
                Race Four:

1st: #1 PERFECT PROVISION – broke her maiden in her Tapeta debut at Gulfstream Park as the 2-5 favorite. She did nothing there next time out but went to Saratoga and held on for second on the dirt. The daughter of Connect moves up off the claim.

2nd: #4 MORE RANSOM – woke up and broke her maiden two starts back here when Lasix and blinkers were added. She romped that day by almost three lengths as the 13-10 favorite but tired badly after a half mile against allowance foes.

3rd: #6 MUY CHISTOSA – took her nine tries to break her maiden but she did it style and has some back class.
                Race Five:

1st: #8 AZTEC PRINCESS – raced evenly in her career debut here going 5 1/2 furlongs but woke up big time next out going two turns when she rallied from far off the pace to miss by a nose. Tim Hamm wins 19% second time going long.

2nd: #6 BY THE YARD – first-time starter from Mike Stidham who wins 15% with his debut runners. The daughter of Uncle Mo (14% debut winners) is out of a dam by Seeking the Gold (17% debut winners) that has produced six winners from six foals to race.

3rd: #3 WARRIOR’S RANSOM – has improved in each of her three career starts and won’t have to overcome the rail.
                Race Six:

1st: #2 CAMINO DE SANTIAGO – broke his maiden second time out here as the 3-5 favorite when he stalked the pace, then went up to Woodbine and raced wide in a turf sprint stakes race. Tim Hamm wins 26% with this surface switch.

2nd: #3 SHAMMAH – missed by a head in his well-bet career debut as the 3-2 favorite, then broke his maiden easily when he went gate to wire and was pulling away. Tim Hamm wins 23% with his overall synthetic-track starters.

3rd: #1 LEGEND OF CHARLIE – went gate to wire to break his maiden first time out but was soundly beaten in a dirt stakes.
                Race Seven:

1st: #4 YOUMUSTBEA WEASLEY – took him 10 tries to break his maiden. He came back with a second and a pair of thirds but the last two came against open company and he showed good speed last out. Kevin Rice wins 20% going short to long.

2nd: #8 SHOOT YOUR CUFFS – returns off short rest after running second here in his last three starts going six furlongs. His two starts going this distance were not good enough but the recent sprints should have sharpened him up for this.

3rd: #7 SACHMO – makes his Tapeta debut after winning two of his past three turf starts at Penn National.
                Race Eight:

1st: #5 C THE KING – horse for the course has been stuck at this level but at least he runs some good speed ratings. After racing evenly two starts back, he was a good second in a wide trip last out and can beat these if he can run back to that effort.

2nd: #7 FARAT – after four poor efforts, he woke up at 17-1 and won going this distance in good time. The son of Lemon Drop Kid drops down in class and has some decent form on the turf against better. Huber Villa-Gomez rides back – 3 for 4 for Dave Markgraf.

3rd: #2 BELIEVEINHOLIDAYS – fits these conditions like a glove but he tired badly last out with no apparent excuse.
