    Monday’s game

Houston @ Philadelphia (series is 1-1)
McCullers is 3-1, 2.74 in his last six starts.
He is 2-1, 3.45 in five road starts this year.
He is 2-2, 2.77 in 18 postseason games (11 starts).
He is 0-1, 1.50 in one start vs Philly.

Houston is 8-1 in playoffs this month.
    Astros are 54-30 on road.
Houston is in playoffs for 6th year in row- they were in World Series three of last five years.

Syndergaard is going to start; he’s thrown total of 5.1 innings in his three playoff games this month, so this is likely a bullpen game.

Phillies are 10-3 in playoff games this month, 5-0 at home.
Phillies are 76-49 since they changed managers.
Phillies are 52-34 at home this year.
Phillies are in the World Series for first time since 2009.

Phillies are 2-3 against the Astros this season, all in Houston
Teams had yesterday off; bullpens are mostly rested.

Ballina races betting tips & best bets | Monday, October 31
      October 30, 2022 4:07 am.
      Nathan Keven

      What Ballina Races
Where Ballina Jockey Club, Racecourse Rd, Ballina NSW 2478
      When Monday, October 31, 2022
      First Race 2:10pm AEDT

      Visit Ladbrokes

Country racing heads to the Ballina Jockey Club on Monday afternoon for a seven-race card. The track is currently rated as a soft 7, although with some clearing day’s ahead, we could end up in the good to soft range come race-day. The rail sits in the true position, with racing set to get underway at 2:10pm AEDT. Let’s find some winners.
      Best Bet: Proost

We look to get the damage done nice and early on the Ballina card with Paul Shailer-trained mare Proost. She broke her maiden last start in stylish fashion at Grafton on October 18, Proost smashed her rivals winning by 3.8-lengths that day and looks to go back-to-back. We love the step up in trip here at Ballina to this 1900m contest, with a race filled with plenty of gallopers hitting their peak already, it looks like Proost has more progression going forward. Ben Looker rode her to victory last start, and so long as he gives Proost clear running turning for home, she looks a great bet to start the day.
      Best Bet

      Race 1 – silks#3 Proost (9)

      4yo Mare | T: Paul Shailer | J: Ben Looker (58.5kg)

      $2.70 with Ladbrokes
      Next Best: Deelosh

We look for a race-to-race double tipping wise with our next best of the day Deelosh in race two. This lightly raced four-year-old for the Kris Lees yard look due to break her maiden status, with this 1300m race looking a great chance to do just that. Deelosh is third-up after being beaten favourite last time out at Lismore on October 16, she pressed forward in a race with too much speed and petered out late on the line to go down by 2.5 legnths. Stepping back to 1300m here should see Deelosh run out the trip, plus a favourable speed map, she looks a great hope in moderate maiden company. Andrew Mallyon will go to the front, and hopefully be too strong to the line at a good price with online Bookmakers.
      Next Best

      Race 2 – silks#2 Deelosh (7)

      4yo Mare | T: Kris Lees | J: Andrew Mallyon (58kg)

      $2.80 with Palmerbet

        Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 31st October 2022

        by Racing and Sports

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 31.

        Picture: Steve Hart

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings today held at Ballina.

        BALLINA: RACE 2 @ 2:45 PM

DEELOSH (2) has hit the top-five in all five career outings to date and strikes a very winnable contest here. Hails from the astute Lees barn and can improve enough to take this out. SAVAROSA (5) put in a career-best performance when a close-up second last time out and looks to be improving with racing. Shapes as a major threat. CHEROKEE GIRL (7) has been thereabouts in recent efforts and gets 2kg off from the inside alley. Has to be included. VANDACEOUS (10) failed last start but go on the good third to commence the career. In the mix. PEANO GRIGIO (3) strips fitter third-up from the spell and looks one of the each-way hopes in this field.
        SELECTIONS: Deelosh to win.

Neil Morrice best bets and tips – Monday 31 October 2022

Neil Morrice shares all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing coming your way from Hereford, Kempton Park, Plumpton and Wolverhampton.

            HEREFORD
            Race 2 No7 MARBLE SANDS
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan

From a stable with a strong team of novices, winning bumper horse MARBLE SANDS can gain an overdue first success over jumps. He troubled the judge in all four starts after joining his handler and is ready for this first outing in almost eight months.
            Race 3 No8 PRINCESS MIDNIGHT
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Harry Kimber

Kimber will take a useful 5lb off the back of PRINCESS MIDNIGHT whose record of two successes and three placed efforts from just six starts for her trainer speaks for itself. This is her first run over fences on a right-handed track, but she should prove adaptable to going that way.
Race 5 No4 MIDNIGHT JEWEL (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Longsdon – Jockey: Lilly Pinchin

MIDNIGHT JEWEL is a winner without a penalty after falling with the race at his mercy at Stratford. This normally reliable jumped can get back to winning ways as a worthy favourite.
Race 7 No4 EROS (Each Way)
Trainer: Kayley Woollacott – Jockey: Ben Godfrey

EROS put together a string of earning runs after being switched to fences. He was still in contention when falling on his latest start at Wincanton, and has worked well ahead of this return to the fray.
            KEMPTON PARK
            Race 4 No7 ISLAND BANDIT
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: Jason Watson

ISLAND BANDIT completed a hat-trick on turf in the summer and went down in a photo over this course and distance last time. He looked to enjoy the switch to Polytrack, on which he’s inexperienced and can only improve.
Race 5 No11 MR BUSTER (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rob Hornby

MR BUSTER shaped well to finish second on his Nottingham introduction. He hails from a stable full to the brim of useful juveniles, and is well drawn to assume a good stalking position.
            Race 6 No5 STOWELL
Trainer: George Boughey – Jockey: David Probert

A chance is taken on STOWELL to live up to his early promise on a first start for his handler. He’s competed in Group and Listed company this year, and could be a new broom returning as he is today after a breathing operation.
            PLUMPTON
            Race 2 No6 SCARFACE (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Brendan Powell

As long as he can adapt to the tight track, SCARFACE should open his account in this novices’ hurdle. He ran into some classy foes like Skytastic and Sir Gerhard at Ascot and Cheltenham, but this fine prospect is in far calmer waters today.
Race 7 No1 NEVERBEEN TO PARIS
Trainer: Pat Murphy – Jockey: Lorcan Williams

NEVERBEEN TO PARIS has the wherewithal to defy top weight and repeat his 2021 success in this race. Interestingly he’s running off the same mark and has been readied by a pleasing run on the Flat.
            WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 2 No6 LULWORTH COVE (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: John Fahy

LULWORTH COVE returned from a five-month absence to trouble the judge at Windsor, a run that has put her spot on for what should prove a first career success in this fillies’ novice. She should have too many guns for Martini Nights and Calluna.
            Race 6 No7 PARAMETER
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: PJ McDonald

McDonald is an eye-taking booking for the lightly raced PARAMETER who is well drawn and capable of progression given her endearing pedigree.

            Place Accumulator Perm (Races 2-8)

            6, 7 x 5, 10 x 4, 3 x 7, 11, 1 x 7, 10 x 7, 4, 5 x 2, 7

              Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

              Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #1
              Picks Notes
#2 Bumpy He's capable of something a bit better than he showed last time out, and I think he's in line for a great trip right up on the splits. Think he can turn the tables on Cha Cha Larry today.
#3 Student Prince He rarely turns in an effort that would be competitive here, but I'm not sure he's meeting a super deep group here, and his best career race came at this trip locally.
#5 Cha Cha Larry Not going to be much of a price here, but there are a couple running lines on his page that would almost surely leave the rest running for second, but I would be a bit nervous about the way he gives away ground late in his races.
Race Summary Bumpy gets the edge in a race where the likely chalk, Cha Cha Larry, could be a bit vulnerable late in the lane. Student Prince has a bit of price appeal for me here, too.

              Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #5
              Picks Notes
#11 Habuiah She proved a good fit when stepping out into open company last time out, and I'm hoping she is able to find a decent spot without getting hung out too wide into the first turn. Think she might get a bit overlooked, and Morales has been an ace turf route rider this season on percentage and ROI.
#10 Timeless Rose She's a good fit here after facing a decent group in Chicago last time out, and she has been fairly competitive with similar in some recent starts. Capable.
#8 Treasure of War Her form was pretty sharp until the dud in stakes company at Colonial in September, so this group probably gives her a lot of room to bounce back.
Race Summary Habuiah has really reliable form and turned in a nice effort when facing an open group for the first time last out. She's got a little versatility in running style that should give her rider a couple options out of the gate.

              Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #7
              Picks Notes
#8 Evil Intentions Debuter goes for a barn that has done some good work from limited 2-year-old sprint starters here in recent years, and I think we probably get a pretty fair price here first time out.
#2 Knockenera The debut effort was really solid, and she could be tough here if she is able to move forward at all off that effort, but the barn is just 1-for-21 with these types in the last couple years. Tough call.
#12 Unbridled Talent She should appreciate getting back around one turn after the fading effort when going long with stakes company, and she might be able to find a decent spying trip from out here.
Race Summary Evil Intentions is a fresh face in a race that may call for it, and he's coming out of the box for a team that has quietly done good work with this kind of runner locally.

                Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

                Parx - Race #2
                Picks Notes
#5 WILD UNION (8-5) First or second in 11 of 26 on main track, takes magnified class drop in this field.
#7 SOCIAL GROUP (7-2) Race close-up throughout in his last three starts at Parx, all at one mile.
#3 CALL FITZROY (3-1) Met pair of 8-5 winners on short rest, stretches out in distance.
Race Summary WILD UNION is eligible for this spot by four days, earned his top speed figure this year when second in a 4-horse field last out and drops below his claim level for the first time. Not crazy about the price but a win and place bet is in store nonetheless.

                Parx - Race #3
                Picks Notes
#5 NO SALT (3-1) Met pair of $600k earners recently, can get back in the win column in this spot.
#7 MAYTHEHORSEBWITHU (9-5) Seeks third win in a row, runs one mile for the first time this year.
#4 ICY STORM (6-1) Improved, plenty of route experience, can top $100k in earnings this year.
Race Summary NO SALT was no threat to Sevier (24-61, $647k) on a muddy track at Delaware Park last out and faded against Thomas Shelby (11-31, $603K) in the race prior. But the hard-hitting 5-year-old won four of his prior five starts on the main track and deserves a chance to bounce back. Bet to win and place and play 5-4 and 5-7 exactas.

                Parx - Race #4
                Picks Notes
#8 RED PEPPER GRILL (5-1) Rode rail, decent stretch run, added ground a plus at inflated price.
#2 BRODY SLAM (3-1) Steady check-getter at $7,500 claiming level, sheds 7 pounds.
#1 RELENTLESS RUBY (2-1) Eased back early, rallied late between runners, ran second at 6F.
Race Summary RED PEPPER GRILL was outrun on the backstretch behind a bunched group of rivals, advanced on the rail and finished willingly, albeit as the beaten favorite. She must stay in closer contact early for her new barn to make the extra furlong pay off with a victory. Bet to win and place.
