Wednesday NBA Free play. My selection is on Houston plus the points over Los Angeles at 8:10 pm et on Wednesday.

These two teams were just involved in a tight, low-scoring affair two nights ago in Los Angeles. While the Rockets are going nowhere this year as they continue their rebuild, they will undoubtedly be hungry for a win on Wednesday after losing four straight and seven of their eight contests to open the campaign. On a positive note, the Rockets have been playing some defense, limiting four straight and five of their last six opponents to 90 or fewer field goal attempts. They shouldn't have much difficulty keeping that going on Wednesday as the Clippers have managed to hoist up no more than 87 field goal attempts in any of their seven games this season. Los Angeles has knocked down 37 or fewer field goals in four of its last five contests. Teams playing like that don't tend to win by margin, also noting that the Clips aren't close to being in midseason form defensively, with five of their last six opponents making good on 40+ field goals. Take Houston.

The Lakers finally got off the schneid in their last game, and I think they can keep the momemtum rolling here. I think LA is undervalued right now by both the public and the bookmakers. Everyone loves bagging on LeBron James and the Lakers, but they're filled with experienced talent. Chemistry has been an issue early, but they definitely appeared a lot better finally in their 121-110 victory over Denver, revenging an earlier loss. New Orleans has been pretty good to start the year, as it's 4-2 after beating the Clippers here 112-91 the other night. The Pelicans return home to face Golden State on Friday. Not many teams look past the Lakers, everyone likes kicking the King while he's down, but LA is for sure the hungrier dog in this fight. LA has a favorable stretch of games here, with Utah and Cleveland coming to town over the next week, so this is a good spot for sure for the Lakers and Darvin Ham. They're off their first win, they have something to build off, and Russell Westbrook seems to fit better coming off the bench. Zion Williamson returned in the win over the Clippers after missing two games with a hip injury, but it's repored that he's still extremely sore. These teams have been polar opposites as far as shooting the three ball, as the Lakers have been one of the worst in the early going, and the Pelicans one of the best. But, the NBA is all about making adjustments from game to game, both for the players and coaches, but also for handicappers. I see lots of value here by grabbing the points with the Lakers!
