Race 1: Bonham Handicap

#7 Run Run Good has shown he is capable and he could well use the inside gate to his advantage by pushing forward. Expect he does so and he might just prove too good for them here. #2 Quorum ran out of running room late last start. He can improve off that effort and Class 5 is clearly his go. He’s worth supporting also. #9 Medic Elite is doing everything right and gets his chance once more. He’ll give them a head start but watch for him late. #8 London Luckystar should get a sweet run from the draw. He has claims.

Race 2: Bridges Handicap (2nd Section)

#4 Spicy Grill is racing well and appears to be taking the right steps towards another win. Pierre Ng is doing very, very well this season and this horse can add to his already impressive tally. #3 Copartner Era should improve sharply with a return to Happy Valley. The added distance will do him a world of good, especially with Vincent Ho up now. #1 Exuberant has claims and knows what to do in this grade. He steps up in distance but his consistency holds him in good stead. #6 Rainbow Light will get every opportunity.

Race 3: Bridges Handicap (1st Section)

#6 Royal Pride is unlucky not to already be a winner. He closed well last start, even while being cut off to finish alongside Turquoise Alpha who won last Sunday. He gets his chance but will need to save ground, especially from the draw. #4 Blissful Star knows how to run well without winning. He gets one his better chances this time with gate one. #3 Viva Popcorn returns first-up. He knows what to do and the inside gate favours him. #1 All Joyful knows how to win first-up. The wide gate makes things tricky though.

Race 4: Po Hing Handicap

#10 Birdsville looks well placed. He missed last week’s fixture – like a number of these – due to the cancellation. He has the right form behind Jumbo Legend and the outside draw should give him his chance to slip back before finishing off late. #9 Rattan Kingdom did well first-up, narrowly missing by a length. He’ll get his chance here under Zac Purton, however, he just might be under the odds. #6 River Views is racing well and should improve once more. Keep safe. #8 Happy Soul is next best.

Race 5: The Tung Wah Group Of Hospitals Challenge Cup Handicap

Expect #7 Multimore finds the front and from there may prove difficult to get past. He knows what he’s doing out in the lead – twice winning over this course and distance. The inside draw will give him every chance. #6 Yellowfin is without a win but does always do plenty right. Expect the same again from him as he returns to favourable conditions. #1 Awesome Treasure makes a crucial step down to Class 4. This should see him go close. #3 See U Again has consistent on his side. Don’t discount.

Race 6: Po Yee Handicap

#5 Intrepid Winner is closing in on a first win. He’s racing well and returned this season in fine fettle with a strong fifth first-up last start. He can power over the top of this group if they set a hot tempo out in front. #1 Champion Dragon should roll forward and is one of a few who will jostle for the lead. He’s tough and has returned in cracking order. #3 Royal Bomb draws favourably and will need to save as much ground as he can to see this one out. He has a touch of class. #4 Tempest Express has claims. He gets his chance.

Race 7: Po Yan Handicap

They’re going to fly along here and #9 Run Run Cool is one who can capitalise on the prospects of a red-hot tempo. He draws sweetly for this which should give him every chance to position up right behind the leading quartet. #5 Whizz Kid draws wide and may be forced to sit out the probable speed duel. This could be in his favour. #4 Classic Unicorn will use gate one to lead. He’s a great chance if he gets left alone but that isn’t looking likely here. #6 Rock Ya Heart has claims. He’s consistent.

Race 8: Seymour Handicap

#2 Harmony Fire returns from a lengthy layoff with injury. He’s done well ahead of his first-up run, catching the eye in a recent trial at Happy Valley when he was pushed out to cross in first position. Silvestre de Sousa should get everything out of him. #10 Spontaneous is on the steady improve this season. He’s favoured with a lowly impost. #5 Heroic Master did well to finish third on debut last start. He can take another step forward and deserves respect here. #6 California Deeply will take a bit of catching.

Race 9: Tai Ping Shan Handicap

#5 Here Comes Ted looks wound-up and ready to perform first-up. He returns from a lengthy stint at Conghua which appears to have done him a world of good. It wouldn’t surprise to see him take a big step forward here upon resumption. #9 Solar Winds has the closing speed to throw himself in the mix. He can improve once more. #7 Xponential is closing in on another win. He rarely lets his supporters down in contests such as this one. #2 Five Elements has consistency on his side. Keep safe.

The Bendigo Jockey Club will host a competitive nine-race program on Wednesday as the solitary meeting in Victoria. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, but with warm weather forecasted for central Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday, we should get into the Good range come race day. The rail will be in the 5m position for the entire circuit, and racing gets underway at 12:30pm AEDT.
Best Bet: He’s Essential

In the opening leg of the quaddie, the Peter Moody-trained He’s Essential looks very hard to beat as he returns from a four-month spell. This three-year-old gelding only has the one career start to his name, winning a maiden over 1000m on the Pakenham synthetic on June 21. This son of I Am Invincible was made to travel three and four wide for the entire trip at Pakenham, but he was ultra-impressive in the concluding stages as he kicked away on the corner and held on to win by just under a length over some fast-finishing backmarkers. Moody has shown a lot of intent in the two jump-outs this guy has had – especially at the most recent, where the jockey used the whip to ensure that this gelding lengthened nicely and won it. These are the types of things we like to see in preparation for a first-up run, so if Luke Nolen gets any luck from barrier seven, we should see this guy continue his unbeaten start to his career.

We were with the Robbie Griffiths & Matthew de Kock-trained Tiz My Bay at her first-up run at Sale when she went down by the barest of margins in a very tight photo finish with Nickelback over 1400m. On Wednesday this four-year-old mare will find a very winnable race as she steps up to 1600m, and now that she is second-up after a strong resuming run, she should be fit and ready to go. Jumping from barrier six, Jamie Mott will take this daughter of Cable Bay to the back of the field, which is her natural racing pattern, and with even luck this girl should be flying down the outside and breaking her maiden at her 11th career start.

In the fifth race of the day, for the stayers over 2400m, the Archie Alexander-trained Donatrice will be looking for her second win of this preparation and third win of her career at start 13. This five-year-old mare was a bit unlucky at her last start as she travelled into the race in the final 600m but didn’t get the cart into it that she was looking for and peaked on her run late to finish fourth. Declan Bates will jump back aboard this daughter of Contributor after missing her last run, and considering he has ridden this girl at four or her last six starts, we should be see a better showing on Wednesday.

NSW provincial racing heads to Hawkesbury on Wednesday afternoon for a competitive eight-race program kicking off at 1:25pm AEDT. We should have perfect conditions for race-day with a Good 4 track all but assured on the weather map. The rail is positioned +3m between the 1100m-600m and then true for the remainder. Let’s try to find some winners on what looks a tricky card to dissect.
Best Bet: Legio Ten

We land with the Godolphin blue for our best bet of the day at Hawkesbury on Wednesday afternoon. Legio Ten looks an outstanding chance to break his maiden status over the 1300m for James Cummings, coming here second-up from a terrific effort behind Calico Jack at Cranbourne on October 21. She’s had 14 career starts for six minor placings, and while she’s been a frustrating bet for punters that have backed her in the past – being beaten by such short margins as 0.2, 0.3 and 0.1 lengths in her last preparation alone – Wednesday’s 1300m event looks her best chance yet to break through. This mare by Epaulette is first-up now after a confidence-building win at that trials by 1.8 lengths at Randwick on October 28. Tommy Berry was with her on that day and elects to stick here, so Nullify should have every opportunity to break her duck and silence the doubters. She is a great bet in what looks moderate company.

The Ipswich Turf Club will host a very competitive eight-race program on Wednesday. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, but there is good weather on the forecast over Tuesday and Wednesday, so hopefully there will be an upgrade at some stage. The rail will be in the 6m position, and we expect the track will play favourable to leaders and on-pace runners for most of the day. Racing will kick off at 1:18pm AEST.
Ipswich Best Bet: Luskin Hero

In the second race of the day, the Lawrie Mayfield-Smith–trained Luskin Hero looks to be one of the better bets for the day. This five-year-old gelding will return from a six-month spell on Wednesday, with only one public trial under his belt. This son of Kaphero finished off last preparation with a second behind the very talented Boomnova in a Class 6 Handicap over 1000m. This guy has a good fresh record, recording two wins and a second placing from five first-up starts, with the majority of those first-up runs coming off just one trial throughout his career. From barrier four, Adin Thompson should have this guy either outside the leader or just behind the leading pair, which should prove to be the best place to be in the concluding stages at Ipswich on Wednesday. Thompson’s 1.5kg claim brings this gelding right into this and he should be in this race for a long way.

In the second leg of the quaddie, the Tony Gollan-trained Litermont will be looking to break through for her first win of the preparation and third win of her career at start number nine. At her most recent start over 1200m at Ipswich on October 19, this lightly race four-year-old mare was held up before the turn, before having to cut back down to the inside running rail in the home straight. The winner of that race and her stable mate, Da Party Gal, was next to this girl and when she went to the inside the winner went to the outside of the field which ultimately advantaged the winner and disadvantaged this mare. If Angela Jones can get this daughter of Cable Bay to settle just behind the leaders, we could see her peel off their backs late and be very strong over the concluding stages.

This son of Smart Missile showed in the trial that he was very speedy and that he could sustain the gallop and sprint, as the rider pushed this guy to lengthen and extend in the concluding stages of the trial. If he jumps like he did in his trial, this gelding will most likely find the front and be very hard to catch in the home straight.

#6 Flying I The form has been heading in the right direction in those last few starts, and she isn't meeting a whole lot in here in her second local start this season. Best stuff should do here.
#10 Customs Bella Ella She's making her second start of the year, and something like her comeback race would probably keep her in the mix with this group. Still, I worry the price is not going to accurately reflect the risk to see if she can run back to that last one.
Race Summary With Grace tries this $5,000 level for the first time, and maybe she gets a decent finishing trip from midpack while turning back off the fading effort last out. I'd be interested at anything like the 8/1 ML price.

#5 El Deal Me Aces He'll race as a gelding for the first time after losing the rider in the debut run, and the addition of blinkers might work in his favor as well. The barn has done some decent work with these types in recent years here.
#1 Holy Bayou He steps up off what feels like a useful debut run when facing cheaper, but he figures capable of moving forward off that try, and he should be in a pretty decent spot spying the pace early on.
#7 Run Carlos Think there are a couple others in here with enough upside to think this guy might have a battle on his hands, but I do like the way he showed up with a big first local effort. Capable player.
Race Summary El Deal Me Aces has a lot of room to come forward after the no-go run in the debut try in Texas, and for what it's worth, the show horse in that race just graduated the other day at Remington.

#1 Suffragette She has finished behind some of these in recent starts, but I think she might be well served here by committing to settling behind the pace and making one late run after saving ground inside. Gimmick player?
Race Summary For Real Alice may not have as high a ceiling as some of these, but the recent form is pretty reliable, and she should be in a perfect spot to assume command if the pace starts to come back.
