We kick off our punting week with an enormous nine-race card at Scone on Monday afternoon. The track is currently listed in the Good 4 range for race-day and with only minimum rain forecast across the region, that should be a spot-on prediction heading into the first race scheduled for 1:15pm AEDT.

The rail is out +3m between the 800m to winning post and true the remainder. Let’s start the week with some winners on what looks a massive card to dissect.
Best Bet at Scone: Paradise Island

We head to the middle of the card for race five on the program to find our best of the afternoon in the form of Kris Lees-trained mare Paradise Island. She looks a cracking bet on Monday with two terrific efforts so far this preparation, she approaches this 900m sprinting contest third-up and ready to win after running into some formidable opposition last start at Port Macquarie on October 7. She went down by just over a length to progressive galloper Jacenza on that occasion and was by no means disgraced, she was simply outmatched, but this BM66 contest looks much more suitable for this daughter of Holler. She should get to the one-by-one from the perfect draw of barrier three and when the sprint goes on, Dylan Gibbons will have Paradise Island steaming home down the middle of the track to score at a great price with online Bookmakers.

Next Best Bet at Scone: Willinga Karisma

We’re going back to the well with the Kris Lees-trained filly Willinga Karisma. We tipped her last start at Kempsey on November 4, and she was okay only defeated 0.7 lengths, but was a very short favourite on that occasion. She looks a dower type and the increasing step up in trip here to the 1400m looks to suit this filly by Tivaci. Last start she just seemed to take a long time to wind up, however, with the much bigger track at Scone and a more suitable wide barrier drawn eleven, we think this is the right recipe to see the best of Willinga Karisma. Dylan Gibbons can press forward and lob somewhere midfield with cover before showing off what we know on her best day is an electric turn-of-foot. It’s only career start number four come Monday afternoon, but even then, she looks overdue to break her maiden status.

We look to the second leg of the Quaddie to find our best each-way play of the afternoon with the seven-year-old gelding Supra Marnium. It’s unbelievable to us this guy is still at maiden at his age, and we think he gets his best career opportunity to get a win on the board in this 1600m contest. His form-lines read exceptionally well with his last start the real eyecatcher in the form guide with an outstanding effort beaten by NJC Spring Stakes placegetter Kazalark at Hawkesbury on October 25. He was at the rear of the field and presented late to only go down 2.9 lengths to what now is a top line form reference for Maiden/Class 1 company. From a much more positive barrier two, expect Blake Spriggs to jump and find a more prominent spot than last start, then once the race goes on this lightly raced veteran can close late to finally get his maiden victory on the board.

BAIRNSDALE: RACE 9 @ 5:00

OBSESSIVE NATURE (8) raced below par at his last appearance 11 weeks ago when eighth over 1212m at Sale. He is back a grade and looks a strong winning hope in a depleted field. HIGH RISK (5) has won his only start on this track and will appreciate the two kilo claim. He is best on a wet track and should be thereabouts. MAKE AN EFFORT (13) is fitter for two runs back since a spell and save his best for this track. He has changed stables since last racing and is worth including in all combinations.
SELECTIONS: Obsessive Nature to win.

SCONE: RACE 5 @ 3:40

PARADISE ISLAND (7) is an above average mare who's returned in good order with two solid minor placings. At her peak now and Dylan Gibbons back aboard. No excuses today. CANTRELL (2) showed potential over the 1400m/1600m trips last time in and has placed first-up. Likely to get back from the gate and finish hard late. I'M ON BREAK (3) also returns from a lengthy spell and has some first-up form. Looked forward enough for this when 2nd in a recent trial at Muswellbrook on October 30. UPSIDE (8) resumes here and has good stats this track and trip. No trial form but will be in this for a long way.

#4 Dominant Okie They've all got really dull form in this one, but this dropper might be the controlling pace in here after showing brief speed and fading in the route debut. Wouldn't be shocked to see him find the front and get brave in a bad bunch.
#1 Dens Deville The two-turn debut didn't go great last time out, but his two-back try going short is by far the biggest flash of talent anyone in this group has shown, so maybe he's good enough here if he bounces back a bit.
#2 Magna Tap He was never involved in the debut run, but he has some room to do better here while dropping in for a tag with that first route race under his belt. Wouldn't need much to share.
Race Summary Dominant Okie is probably fast enough to find the front with this group, and maybe he'll stick around a lot better here with this kind of competition chasing him on the backstretch.

Remington Park - Race #7
Picks Notes
#2 Legally Lucky She has to turn some tables from previous races, but she's probably better back on the main track here, and she should be in a pretty good spot into the far turn.
#6 Blameitonmidnight I would want a fair price in here while waiting to see how her two-turn dirt form stacks up here, but she's another who should be able to find a good spot close to the pace, and her best stuff seems competitive.
#4 Bodefide She turned in an improved effort while still not presenting any threat in the dirt debut, but she might like the more leisurely early tempo going long here. Not out of the question.
Race Summary Legally Lucky had a sort of tricky trip while trying the turf for the first time, and something like her two-back try at this same trip would probably make her tough.

Remington Park - Race #9
Picks Notes
#1 Albizu He looks like a good fit here while drawing inside with some ability to settle and finish, as there are a few solid pace players drawn further out who might set things up for him late. Think his California baseline is tough here.
#5 Lake Radio He should be able to find a good spot close to the pace, but he has enough of a rating gear to think he'll settle just behind that early battle and try to land a first-jump type of trip turning for home.
#8 Muni Muni Slew He's a little cheap right now compared to some of these, but he has been popular at the claim box and steps up off a flat effort by his standards. Pressing pace may move and hang around for a share.
Race Summary Albizu is probably tough here if he gets any pace to chase, and that help may come from a few forward players drawn further outside. The California form looks like a great fit here, and I'll lean heavily here in the finale.

STREET SHADOW - Ought to be given a chance - I like the numbers from the last contest. I think he'll be close at the finish. FREDDYNESS - Lone speed horses can be tough to run down. Here's a lone front-runner facing sluggish sorts today. The improved speed figs over the last three races is great. Ness drops him in this contest ready to go. DON'T BLAME FREDDY - I undeniably see good luck for this thoroughbred right here.

This jock/trainer duo has been producing a very favorable ROI, right at +83. I always like to see a campaigner getting Lasix for the first time. Atala adds it on this one today.
