1st race – (4) Leavenworth missed by a head in his debut and should graduate here. (7) Get Khozy didn’t fire on dirt, may like turf. (5) Shankar ran well on Tapeta and should handle turf. (8) Cutie gets Saez and merits attention. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 4-5-7-8.
3rd race – (7) Prominencia drops in class and looks best here. (4) Live Like Laura was third in her debut and should be the main threat off a class drop. (5) Action Rose was second in her last two starts and should be in the picture here. (8) Cosetta could be a threat in the stretch. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 4-5-7-8.
5th race – (3) Rosie’s Halo was third in her first start against winners and could take a step forward here. (2) Twirling Grace was second last time and should be the main threat. (6) Awesome Anmarie might turn in a better effort today. (7) More Glory can make her presence felt at the end. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-6-7. Doubles: 2-3-6-7 with 3-5-6-8.
6th race – (6) Aruba will welcome the added distance here. (8) Border War may perk up in this spot. (3) Mohegan seems ready for a big effort in his debut. (5) Tepper might respond to a switch back to turf. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-5-6-8.

Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis

Tonight, Yonkers Raceway has a compact 9-race card scheduled. The $1.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6, and the sequence will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6

1-Midnight Miracle (3-1)-Gillis trainee has been disappointing, but this is a soft spot and it should be wake up time. Starts from the rail, has some gate speed and raced okay on the 1/2 in Ontario at GrVr. Might be overlooked and Stratton should keep in play.
3-Look In My Eyes (9/5)-Bumps up after drawing off by over 8 lengths. This isn't a strong crew and needs to be used. But hoping the 5-year-old isn't bet hard.

Race 7

1-Fox Valley Cachet (7/2)-This 3-year-old meets some older foes but has won versus this kind before. Has been stuck outside in the last 4 starts and systems should be on go for a big try.
4-Raise The Ante (7/2)-Beat this kind 2 back and then was off 3 weeks, so will excuse the dull performance. Siegelman could be aggressive, land on the point and not look back.

Race 8

2-Beerthirty K (3-1)-Comes back to Yonkers in a spot to shine and has won 8 of 25 here. Stratton will be between the pipes, has the gate speed to race near the top of the stack and should be a main player.
4-Kandy Sweet (9/2)-This is another who should relish the company and has taken pictures versus $50,000 claimers at YR in October. It's best to respect the Brennan-Di Domenico combo on the drop.

Race 9

3-Ship Wreck Beach K (3-1)-Recent form has tailed off but missed a start and the rest could help. Was a winner in 6 straight before the last 3 races and could return to his winning ways tonight.
6-Artist Best (20-1)-Beaten chalk at this class from the rail last week is now 20-1 in the morning line. Needs a trip and with this post draw Boyd could roll off cover and pay a solid price.

Turfway Park - Race #1

#7 Dom Gervasio	He moved up nicely when trying similar last time out, and he caught a forward player who set the tempo and couldn't be reeled in. Dangerous here if he holds that form again here.
#11 Roan for the Rose	Think he has some upside on the move to the local footing while dropping in class for this one, but I worry he's overbet in this spot based on the weight many bettors will give the debut run on the turf. Obvious player.
#8 Forrest City	He was sort of one paced in the debut try, but he has room to come forward with that start under his belt, and I'm never mad about a class hike off the claim. Wouldn't surprise.
Race Summary	Dom Gervasio gets the edge in what seems like a spot where one of the more logical players should land this, but I'd also want #9 Myuddermamasapaint on some tickets with a ceiling high enough to share at a price.

Turfway Park - Race #4

#12 Wild Acclaim	Barn hasn't started many of these types of 2-year-old maidens, but they've gone 3: 1-0-1 here the last few years with this type, including a $66 winner here earlier this month. Take a look on the track and tote, but I wouldn't be totally shocked to see her run like a live one at first asking.
#1 In Color	She didn't have the cleanest go of things in the debut run, but she has some upside here with that race in her rearview. Not sure I'd want to be sitting here at the 3/1 ML price, but I also think she's one of the more logical ones.
#7 Mighty Madison	Her two sprint tries have both been solid, and she makes a lot of sense in here with one of her better efforts from what should be a good tactical spot.
Race Summary	Wild Acclaim offers a little intrigue for a barn that has done some decent work from limited starters in similar races, and I'd also want to take a look at #6 Red Lemonade and #8 Chasing After You on the track.

Turfway Park - Race #7

#4 Boise	Don't think he gets too forgotten on the board in here, but the price might stay just playable enough in a race with a lot of different and capable options. I have a mild worry about the race shape, but he has historically been very good on synthetic footing, even turning in a stakes win at Golden Gate last year as a juvenile.
#9 Blue Kentucky	One of many options in here, he is riding a two-race winning streak, and he's probably tactical enough to stay in touch early with these. Have long thought there might be a bit more here.
#3 Koufax	He has done a lot of his work going longer than this, but he's probably quick enough to find the front with this bunch and showed a useful pressing gear last time out. Best of the forward players?
Race Summary	This is a really fun race to look forward to -- think you can make a fairly interesting case for more than I can list here, but I'm also considering #13 Bourbon Traffic, #14 Maya Prince if they draw in, and #8 Ian Glass makes sense underneath in the main body. Boise makes sense for me here at what I'm hoping is something like 9/2

#5 SHANKAR (5-1)	Bid 4-wide on turn to lead, held second at 1-1/6 miles, projects ideal trip.
#1 FOR THE CHIEF (9-2)	Took overland route on day that favored ‘wide’ runners, finished second.
Race Summary	Taking the Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained runners to finish 1-2 on the step up from the maiden claiming ranks. LEAVENWORTH was well meant in his debut going a route, nearly overcoming early traffic and a wide trip to win. He finished behind Mister Abarrio, the same rival SHANKAR got the jump on to finish second at 1-1/6 miles. Bet on LEAVENWORTH to win and place.

Gulfstream Park - Race #2

#1 LOVE MAKES CENTS (9-2)	Benefited from track bias but can repeat nonetheless.
#3 LEXINATOR (10-1)	Longshot possibility on class drop if you can overlook her comeback try.
#5 CHASING JOY (5-1)	Claimed in eight straight, won last three, finally steps up in class.
Race Summary	LOVE MAKES CENTS raced 4- to 6-wide throughout and prevailed on a track that catered to that style. But he earned a competitive speed figure for this spot, moves from post 11 to the rail and makes his third start of a cycle at a fair price. Bet to win and place.

Gulfstream Park - Race #4

#1 APPRAISAL (3-1)	Hit board in 10 of 17 this year, plunges for score and pursuit of $100k Club.
#6 FULTON STREET (5-1)	Chased 9-2 winner, leveled off in stretch, held runner-up spot.
#7 TOSCANITO (10-1)	Romped in prior two one-mile starts, tired in pair of longer routes.
Race Summary	APPRAISAL chased a fast pace and held his ground until he drifted in the stretch at one mile last out. But he has been a steady check-getter all year, gets major class relief and can upstage to a victory. Bet to win and place.

My selection in here is BOURBON ST TAPPIN. Is a very strong contender based on figures garnered recently under today's conditions. In this field, this one is prominent in earnings per start in dirt route contests. Always seems to be close at the finishing post. ALIGNED INTEREST - He ought to be considered given the respectable speed figs. A solid 86 avg class rating may give this gelding a distinct class edge against this field. ANDIAMO GIACOMO - Will probably compete admirably in the early pace battle which bodes well with this group of animals. The winning percentage shown by horses entered by Birzer running at this distance are the most respectable in this field.

HEART ON THE RUN - I usually like playing sprinters who are 3-4 races into a return. Ranks highest in earnings per race entered. A solid try right here in this race will add to that total. BIG BLUE NOTE - Took a significant drop in class rating in the last race at Turf Paradise. Returning to a similar level right here. I'd expect a strong performance. I have to believe that this race's shorter trip should help this filly. Just missed hitting the board on November 19th at Turf Paradise. With decent M/L odds right here in this race, she has my interest. LOW DOSE - This mount should be motoring in the lane.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 SHE'S BLUE DIAMOND (ML=3/1), #1 A WHOLE LOTTA HULA (ML=5/1), #6 MISTY MATT (ML=6/1),

SHE'S BLUE DIAMOND - Hard stretch run on September 3rd and last time around the track. Probably won't have anything to give down the lane this time out. Run-of-the-mill speed fig last out at Sweetwater Downs at 5 1/2 furlongs. Don't think this pony will improve too much today. A WHOLE LOTTA HULA - Nice race on December 1st at Turf Paradise, but the fact that there are no workouts since has to make one a little worried. The speed fig last out doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the class rating of today's race. Mark this entrant as a likely underpriced contender. MISTY MATT - This was a live one, but now this one hasn't been doing anything in the morning. Have to be leery of this one.

He has decent class ratings, averaging 98, and has to be considered in this contest. EARTH - Has been running very well lately and will probably be up on the lead early on. NEW YORK'S FINEST - With a strong 91 Equibase Speed Figure last time out, will clearly be a factor in this affair. Solid rider with conditioner numbers make this horse a strong choice.

FRIENDLY FELLA - Gonzalez had been running this gelding at higher levels recently. Did win a non-classified race race though, on Aug 19th. Could do it again here. Ortiz rode this horse for the initial time last race out and comes right back in today's race. Sub-par try last out at Laurel was due to the off-going (he finished fifth). Should do much better in this race without the off-track conditions. MYSTIC LINK - I expect this mount to stun some fans today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 WENTZ (ML=2/1), #5 CHARGING LION (ML=4/1), #2 ILLUSTRIOUS (ML=6/1),

WENTZ - This favorite may be out of shape without any recent workouts. CHARGING LION - Difficult to put any money on this gelding on the win end. Likes to hit the board though. Registered a mediocre fig in the last race in an $8,000 Claiming race on Nov 30th. Improbable to see an improved performance off of that rating. ILLUSTRIOUS - Not probable that this horse will finish better than he did last time out when finishing fourth.
