3rd race – (8) Vanishing Interest (B) was a solid second in his first dirt race and looks best here. (4) Gambling Holiday is an interesting firster from Pletcher. In a wide open maiden juvenile state bred sprint offering several possibilities, let’s shoot for an 8-1 gamble on this first time starting colt from a low profile outfit. The son of Uncaptured flashed excellent quickness (though failing to change leads) when breezing a quarter mile in a quick 21 2/5 seconds at the April OBS sale before bringing $60,000 through the ring. His recent work tab is solid, steady, and strong, and should have him fit and ready for a major effort first crack out of the box. With a good break from the gate, the Ramon Minguel-trained Florida-bred he could outrun expectations at a nice price.

4-Roxy’s Ball (9/2)

Smoked a furlong in 9 4/5 seconds at the OBS Spring sale – the fastest clocking for the distance at the venue – and eight months later finally surfaces in the entries in this competitive maiden special weight sprint for fillies. The $650,000 daughter of the prolific first crop sire Bolt d’Oro shows a couple of fast gate local workouts to have her cranked and ready, so we’re expecting a big effort from this Keith Desormeaux-trained juvenile. She is listed at 9/2 on the morning line and is worth a play at or near that price in the win pool and in the various rolling exotics.

For a 20-cent base wager, it’s well worth it to try and pick the top five finishers in the scheduled 12-horse field. Use our suggested $115 ticket below, or create your own. Here’s some notes to help shape your ticket:

YOURTHEONE sat a golden pocket trip, awaited room in mid-stretch and surged late to defeat five of the same rivals he meets tonight. THE BOSS SAID changed tactics and finished full of run in the 4-path to finish second. But the two morning-line favorites will start from the second tier if there are no scratches, turning the Jackpot Hi-5 into a wild scramble to solve. EMMETTS BUDDY caught the eye with a rail rally in the stretch. He was in tight late, squeezed through to get beat 1-1/4 lengths and galloped out far in front. HOWIES MAN wasn’t in the aforementioned race, but he rebounded from a disappearing act in his return to Woodbine-Mohawk Park two starts back with a wire-to-wire victory. He can make good use of his speed in this spot, too. MIDNIGHT MOOD is another longshot to consider, stepping up in class off a victory for a sharp claim barn. ACAPULCO SUNBURN came first-over at the half-mile marker, pressed the pace-setting favorite through a :27.2 third quarter and tired late.

Fair Grounds - Race #3

#7 You Have No Idea	She has fairly reliable form, and her tactical pace should keep her in a good spot early on. Wouldn't be surprised to see her turn in a good effort in her local debut as something like the second choice.
#6 Electric Sense	She might drill this group, but it's never a good sign to dip in for a tag for the first time, run up the track, and then return for a price like $15,000. The one to beat, but I'll stand against on principle here.
#3 Puttin' Presley	Debuter goes for a team that doesn't win a bunch of these races but can land a decent price, and this filly is one of two to go from the barn on debut in this spot along with #5 Two Hands Full.
Race Summary	You Have No Idea brings form that isn't flashy, but she's a pretty reliable runner who can grind out a finish on her best day. Think she draws well to have every chance.

Fair Grounds - Race #6

#4 Harold's Cloud	He couldn't hang when trying special weight company in that second start, but his debut was pretty decent, and he should be right up on the splits while moving around two turns.
#8 Wolf Hunter	He has faded late in all five lifetime starts, but he draws well to force the issue on the early pace, and he has some upside on the drop into maiden claiming company.
#3 Natural Red	He has shown a little bit in those two sprint tries, but he was never competitive when trying a route trip for the first time last out with better. Expecting better here.
Race Summary	Harold's Cloud probably gets bet a bit in this spot, but he makes a lot of sense in here while getting around two turns with a chance to control the tempo early on. Guessing he bounces back today.

Fair Grounds - Race #8

#9 Bru Na Boinne	Think her form pegs her as a big of a standout in this spot, as she has shared underneath in a couple of pretty fast races, and there's a real chance she will hammer these barring a big first-timer.
#8 Johanny	Debuter might be ready to go with a pedigree that trends enough toward early wins to give her a long look, and she brings a couple of forward-looking works in advance of this.
#2 Last of the Nile	She was no threat when even money against three others in the debut run at Evangeline, and I wouldn't be surprised to see her outrun her odds in a spot she is sure to get overlooked.
Race Summary	Bru Na Boinne would probably handle these with something similar to either of her first two tries, and she gets a great draw to prompt the pace early on from the outside.

SILKY WARRIOR (IRE) - Coming off a fifth place finish at Gulfstream Park, some may pass on this horse. I'm not. She just missed hitting the show spot, and has pretty good M/L odds today. This jockey and handler have a beneficial return on investment when they team up. Ranked at the top in earnings per race entered. Another indicator that this animal is classy. FOR EVER OURS - Nice return on investment for this rider and trainer twosome. This filly has higher odds on the morning line than the other entrant from the stable of Barboza. Better beware this angle.

BOSSHOG THEM DUKES - Was in a $16,000 Maiden Claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs in the last race. That race had a class figure of 71 and he is moving down in this race. A certain strong challenger. This gelding gets a weight break of -12 pounds from last race. Could be helpful in this race.
